2 What is BIM? Building Information Models Task at RWS: Simplify the information from the building contractor to projectorgantisation and from them to the Assetmanager Collect information once and use it frequently during the life cycle of the asset 2 29 mei 2012
3 RWS BIM-program Group of approx. 25 RWS employees that started in 2011 with BIM Scientific world and stakeholders involved in developing BIM for RWS and the Netherlands Organize, standardize, relate and inform (communicate with) all in this field Test the BIM-products at 4 DBFM pilot projects, like SAA EU-funded project V-Con 3 29 mei 2012
4 DBFM-contracts The Contract focusses on results and outcome (traffic) Contractor: built safe roads and maintain them in a way the road is (maximum) available for the traffic RWS remains responsible for traffic, information and incidentmanagement Information should therefore be available during the entire period of approx. 25 years to manage the network Opdrachtnemer Contractor RWS Users of infra 4 29 mei 2012

10 BIM and its environment Products like IDS, objecttypelibraries and BIM-database are developed together with leading principals in the infra sector, consultancy firms etc. National open standards in discussion with all stakeholders European Open standards need to be developed via EU-project V-con and RWS invites other countries for CEDR-tasks mei 2012
11 V-Con s Aims and Objectives The Virtual Construction for Roads (V-Con) project aims at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the National Road Authorities by improving data exchange in the civil infrastructure sector using the Building Information Modelling (BIM) approach V-Con has two primary objectives. To establish a draft version of a standardised information and data exchange structure. To procure and test software systems that comply with this structure in a PCP process. The results will be embedded in the procurement process of two large infra projects, one in the Netherlands and one in Sweden.
