6 Kornelia Bakos- mezzosopran I first sang on stage in the title role of Handel's Giulio Cesare as a guest of the Hungarian Opera Studio in the summer of I was a member of the Studio from September 2003 to June 2006 and received thorough tuition from Géza Oberfrank on the theatre, the stage and operatic roles, while music director Emil Petrovics generously offered me a number of stage appearances. On my debut night at the theatre I sang 3rd Lady in Mozart's Magic Flute, a role I have since kept at the same theatre. I have a regular working relationship with the Budapest Chamber Opera (artistic director: Domonkos Moldován) (Handel - Semele, Monteverdi - L'incoronazione di Poppea), the Savaria Baroque Orchestra (art. dir.: Pál Németh) (Vivaldi - Juditha Triumphans, Salve Regina, Stabat Mater), Soma Dinyes and the Ars Longa Chamber Ensemble (Bach - Christmas Oratorio, Handel cantatas, duets etc.) and Salamon Kamp and the Hungarian Virtuosi Orchestra (Bach - Christmas Oratorio). I often sing solo for organist and conductor András Virágh, (Liszt Prize) (Bach, Handel, Mozart, Haydn, Liszt), with whom I sang the Hungarian premier of Liszt's Esztergom Mass arranged for organ accompaniment in August Since I won 1st Prize in the International Handel Competition in May 2007, I have been a soloist with the Italian I Virtuosi delle Muse (cond.: Stefano Molardi) and regularly given concerts with them all over Italy. As one of the finalists in the closed competition Rome Musica Sacra in November 2008 I gained admittance to the I Virtuosi della Musica Sacra, lead by Daniela de Marco. In 2007 I teamed up with István Kerek, an old friend and excellent violinist, to create a chamber group called Perle della Musica, hoping to share with our Hungarian audiences all the experience and knowledge I had gained during my stay in Italy. We are dedicated followers of the Venice style, characterized by a broad range of dynamics and tempi and bold musical ideas, all in an effort to enhance the excitement inherent in the pearls of Baroque music. Since 2006, I have regularly appeared in the role of Grimgerde in The Valkyrie during the Wagner Days organized by the Budapest Palace of Arts and conductor Ádám Fischer. In november 2009 I sang Vitellia in Vivaldi s Tito Manlio in Ravenna with the Orchestra Accademia Bizantina e Stefano Montanari. FRIDAY ORGAN CONCERTS IN THE BASILICA 6
