2 1. Consistent with your mission and within your cultural context, describe how diversity in your business programs is demonstrated (see Eligibility Procedures and Standards for Business Accreditation, January 27, Eligibility Procedures D). The benefits from its location in the most ethnically diverse county in the nited States. The student body reflects that diversity, drawing students from the local population, from the mainland.s., forma a wide variety of Pacific Island nations, from Japan, Taiwan, the Asian mainland, and Europe. Ethnically, there is no majority group at H-Hilo. The CoBE student body is typical of the broader university student body. The full-time faculty of the CoBE is 25% female, but remains predominately Caucasian. Aggressive efforts to recruit minority faculty members as positions have come open have so far proven fruitless. These efforts have included advertising in publications with wide circulation among minority faculty groups, and approaches to persons listed in Minority Faculty Registers. The competition for such persons is intense, and small schools like H-Hilo are at a disadvantage in recruiting these persons. The College faculty employs a wide variety of instructional methods and technologies. Extensive use is made of team projects, group presentations, and case analysis. Many instructors provide opportunities for their students to participate in projects that aid local businesses and public agencies, as a means for development of specific skills and the application of theoretical material learned in class. Students frequently participate in exchange programs with mainland.s. universities, and the niversity and College have developed exchange and outreach programs to provide opportunities for our students to study in Japan, China, Korea, and Taiwan. 2. Describe the established expectations of the institution or the business programs of the institution for ethical behavior by administrators, faculty, and students (see Eligibility Procedures and Standards for Business Accreditation, January 27, Eligibility Procedure E). As an agency of State Government, the comes under the jurisdiction of the Hawaii State Ethics Commission. The Code of Conduct for State Employees is contained in Chapter 84 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes. The Ethics Commission has also promulgated Administrative Rules that interpret the statute, and provide specific guidance on ethical questions. All faculty members and administrators are required to comply with the statute and rules governing ethical behavior, and to make annual disclosures of any possible conflicts of interest. The niversity, at the institutional level, has adopted a Student Conduct Code that establishes standards of behavior expected of student. This student conduct code includes established administrative procedures for dealing wit instances of impermissible behavior, and is explicit in its definition of categories of behaviors that are subject to sanction, along with description of the possible sanctions that may be applied.
