1 Certified Healthcare Contractor A Certification Program for Healthcare Facility Contractors ONLY 2013 DATE IN LEXINGTON! January 17-18, 2013 Lexington, KY Crowne Plaza Campbell House June 20-21, 2013 Louisville, KY University of Louisville Shelby Campus
2 from the Administrator The Kentucky Society of Healthcare Engineers is pleased to announce the 2013 schedule for our Certified Healthcare Contractor Program. The purpose of this landmark program is to educate contractors (owners, operations managers, project managers, etc.) in the many critical aspects that are unique to working in healthcare facilities. Hospitals created the concept of 24/7, and therefore whenever a contractor performs services in a healthcare facility, the team of employees must be familiar with the Patient Safety, Patient Privacy, Infection Control, Risk Assessment and more. This Program will give you the knowledge you need to successfully navigate the rules and regulations that hospitals and their contractors must abide by. KSHE membership has long supported the concept of certifying contractors who wish to work in their Kentucky hospitals. The emphasis is on Certification because at the end of this 2-day program, there is a certification exam. Those who pass the exam will be designated Certified Healthcare Contractor. This certification will be valid for 3 years. During that timeframe, opportunities will be available to earn continuing education credits in order to maintain certification, or prior to the end of the 3-year term the contractor can re-take the course. When KSHE introduced the Certified Healthcare Contractor Program in 2006, many Kentucky hospitals simply encouraged their service providers to become certified. Since then, many Kentucky hospitals have been requiring that any contractor performing work in their facility be certified and the number of hospitals taking this stance is growing all the time. Do not miss out on this unique opportunity to expand your knowledge of the Healthcare Environment of Care and Patient Safety issues and how they affect you when performing services in Kentucky hospitals. Space is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. REGISTER TODAY. Sincerely, Jack Rutledge, ASCS, CMRS KSHE Chapter Administrator NOTE: Those who earn their Healthcare Contractor Certification in 2010 must submit evidence of earned continuing education credits, or schedule to attend one of the 2013 Programs, in order to maintain their CHC Certification. If you have questions regarding our Certified Healthcare Contractor Program or other KSHE programs, contact Jack Rutledge at (888) or [email protected]
