7 Janis Stirna State Education Development Agency, Latvia Alexey Barsh Balashikha Industrial-Economical College, Russia Description of the Skill Category The competition tasks are based on the assessment criteria for Excellent (3) in the requirements for Vocational Qualification in Information and Telecommunications Technology. In the competition, eight IT-professionals implement a modular customer task. The competitors skills in hardware and software assembly and in system maintenance are tested in the task. The competitors are expected to have a good knowledge of the English language. All the software and source materials used in the competition will be in English. The competition task descriptions are in Finnish. If a participant whose native language is Swedish competes in the Finals, the task descriptions will be provided in Swedish. 7 / 12
8 Form of competition Individual competition. Competence requirements A successful competitor is able to install, assemble, update and maintain PCs install, configure and update operating systems install, configure and update software plan a local area network according to given requirements (physical planning, assigning IP addresses) cable a local area network according to the standards install, assemble, update and maintain the active equipment of the local area network install, configure and maintain servers with defined basic services and operate as the main user of the network install and configure the workstations of the local area network inaugurate and configure cloud services inaugurate and configure mobile devices carry out and maintain required documentations comply with occupational safety regulations and safety at work comply with electrical safety regulations Competition tasks Competition tasks at the finals and time allotted to perform them Competition tasks The competition tasks are based on the assessment criteria for Excellent (3) in the requirements for Vocational Qualification in Information and Telecommunications Technology. Day 1 Task 1: a Linux task. The task is to configure a virtual server, install the necessary operating systems and test the function of the system. 8 / 12
9 Day 2 Day 3 40 % share of the total score. The time reserved for the task is 6 effective working hours. Task 2: a Windows task. The task is to configure network services, a workstation and to test the function of the system. The time reserved for the task is 7 effective working hours. Task 3: a network task. The task is to configure and carry out network installations, changes and tests. The time reserved for the task is 3,5 effective working hours. Preliminary assignments The preliminary assignments will be published eight weeks before the finals on the Internet. There will be a 30 % change in the tasks at the finals. Assessment The competition tasks are modular which means that the results can be announced at the end of each competition day. The total score of the competition tasks is 100 p. Areas of assessment Task 1. Linux task 35 p Task 2. Windows task 35 p Task 3. Network task 25 p There is also subjective assessment involved in the tasks each day. (Total 5p.) Description of carrying out the assessment Each section will be assessed separately according to the planned scoring both subjectively and objectively. Equipment at the competition site Standard-PC computers, possibly also laptops Switch (Cisco 2950), router (Cisco 2621) Operating systems: Windows 8 Enterprise Edition, Windows Server 2012 and Linux Debian 7.1.x 9 / 12
10 Devices and equipment at the competition site Standard-PC computers, possibly also laptops Switch (Cisco 2950), router (Cisco 2621) Operating systems: Windows 8 Enterprise Edition, Windows Server 2012 and Linux Debian 7.1.x Server environments are arranged in virtual environment Hyper-V Mobile device, tablet Cisco Packet tracer The operating systems and the necessary tools used in the competition will be provided. The operating systems are in English. Materials at the competition site No materials will be used. Materials and equipment the competitors must bring along The competitor does not have to bring anything along to the competition site.
