12 G et t ing St art ed wit h t he Red Hat Cloud Infrast ruct ure Unified Inst aller Chapter 3. Deploying Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and Red Hat CloudForms Use the Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure web user interface to deploy Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization for a private cloud environment and Red Hat CloudForms for the cloud environment management tool. The deployment time depends on the download speed of RPM packages. D eploying Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform with Red Hat CloudForms is currently not supported and will be available with the general availability of Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure 6.0. The unified installer machine has access to three main networks: an internal storage network, an external network to download and synchronize content from Red Hat Content D elivery Network, and a provisioning network that is only available to the unified installer machine and the systems to be provisioned by the unified installer machine. No DHCP or TFTP services should be running on the provisioning network other than those configured by the unified installer machine itself. Figure 3.1. Network Architecture 8

13 Chapt er 3. Deploying Red Hat Ent erprise Virt ualizat ion and Red Hat CloudForms Prerequisites: You must have completed the previous steps to set up the Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure unified installer machine. You must have Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure with Smart Management subscriptions. You must have a minimum of two physical hosts discovered by the unified installer machine. One host is to be used as the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager and one to be used as the hypervisor. Red Hat recommends having at least three physical hosts; two of which can be used as hypervisors for a highly-available Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization environment. See Appendix C, Discovering Hosts for host discovery. Make sure all host hardware clocks are synchronized with the hardware clock on the unified installer machine. You must have prepared two storage domains for the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization environment. One is used as the data storage domain, and one is used as the export storage domain. It is recommended to have a separate storage server to host storage domains for easier storage management. The storage server must be accessible to all Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization machines. For more information on how to set up storage domains with appropriate permissions, see the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Installation Guide, Preparing NFS Storage for more information. Note For evaluation purposes, you can run the fuso r-l o cal -nfs-setup script and set up local NFS storage. The script creates the required storage domains and updates the firewall rules. The mount points created are: For the data storage domain: /var/l i b/expo rts/vms For the export storage domain: /var/l i b/expo rts/expo rts To ensure the firewall rules are updated correctly, only run this script after the l aunchfuso r-i nstal l er script has completed. 18 G et t ing St art ed wit h t he Red Hat Cloud Infrast ruct ure Unified Inst aller Chapter 4. Known Issues and Workarounds Known Issues BZ# For Technology Preview, it is strongly advised to use the specific RPM versions installed from the Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure ISO. Updating the unified installer machine to use the latest packages available could lead to deployment failures. D o not register the unified installer machine to the Content Delivery Network and do not run yum upd ate. BZ# Internet Explorer 11 is not a supported browser version for Technology Preview. BZ# When deploying Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and Red Hat CloudForms, if the progress bar for the RHEV deployment hangs at 95.5%, and you see the following error message, it means that the NFS service failed to restart when the eng i ne-setup script was first run. On the Manager machine, rerun the eng i ne-setup script manually, and the deployment will continue. Expect 30 to 45 minutes of time for the rest of the configuration to complete before you see the progress bars updated. (/Stage[main]/Ovirt::Engine::Setup/Exec[engine-setup]/returns) [ ERROR ] Failed to execute stage 'Closing up': Command '/sbin/service' failed to execute BZ# When creating a new life cycle environment during a Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure deployment, the Next button is disabled and users cannot click Next to proceed with the deployment. To work around this issue, click the Library life cycle arrow, and then the newly created life cycle environment. The Next button will be enabled again. BZ# When doing two ore more concurrent Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure deployments, the first deployment to start content synchronizing tasks locks other deployments from content synchronizing and causes other deployments to fail. To work around this issue, wait until content synchronizing for the first deployment is complete, and resume the failing tasks for other deployments. BZ# When deploying Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and Red Hat CloudForms, it is recommended to configure all components of the deployment and click D epl o y within the same session. When the session times out, users are not logged out of the Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure Portal, and any changes made then will not be saved. If you have left your session idle for a while, make sure you log out and log back in to continue with the deployment tasks. BZ# If the hardware clock on the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization hypervisor host is largely out of synchronization with the hardware clock on the unified installer machine, the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization deployment fails with SSL errors in the logs. 14

19 Chapt er 4. Known Issues and Workarounds BZ# If connecting to the Red Hat CloudForms Portal using the Firefox browser on the unified installer machine, you will need to install the Adobe Flash plug-in. Otherwise, you will see the following error message: A plugin is needed to display this content. 15

20 G et t ing St art ed wit h t he Red Hat Cloud Infrast ruct ure Unified Inst aller Chapter 5. Troubleshooting Tips 5.1. T roubleshoot ing T ips Content synchroniz ing errors If you click Vi ew C o ntent Sync Status and see an error message related to package download failures, see Synchronizing Content to resynchronize the content manually. After content synchronizing is complete, perform a new deployment. If the failure persists, contact the Red Hat Global Support Team. Root password is not set on the unified installer machine If you see the following error message, that means you did not set the root password during the base operating installation. Re-install the unified installer machine and make sure you set the root password. Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure is now successfully installed on your system, but some configuration still needs to be done. Finish it and then click the Finish configuration button please The progress bar for the RHEV deployment hangs at 9 5.5% When deploying Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and Red Hat CloudForms, if the progress bar for the RHEV deployment hangs at 95.5%, it indicates an error with configuring the Data Center for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization. See /var/l o g /messag es for error logs. NFS related issues are the most common reason for a deployment failure. Verify the below: The NFS shares are set up with the appropriate permissions. The shares should be owned by user vd sm and group kvm with the mode set to Firewall rules are not preventing hypervisor hosts from mounting the NFS shares. The NFS shares should not have existing data. Ensure the shares do not have content from a previous Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization deployment. If you see the following error message, it means that the NFS service failed to restart when the eng i ne-setup script was first run. On the Manager machine, rerun the eng i ne-setup script manually, and the deployment will continue. Expect 30 to 45 minutes of time for the rest of the configuration to complete before you see the progress bars updated. 16
