6 Red Hat Cloud Infrast ruct ure 5 Release Not es Chapter 1. Overview of Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure is a hybrid infrastructure-as-a-service cloud solution based on tight integration between Red Hat CloudForms, Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, and Red Hat Satellite. Offered under a single subscription, Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure allows you to combine these products and take advantages of the capabilities they provide via a common user interface. Red Hat CloudForms Red Hat CloudForms is a hybrid cloud management platform that provides a single portal for deploying, managing, and monitoring cloud services across multiple virtualization and cloud platforms. Red Hat Enterprise Linux O penstack Platform Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform provides the foundation to build a private or public infrastructure-as-a-service cloud on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, offering a massively scalable, faulttolerant platform for the development of cloud-enabled workloads. Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform is implemented by a collection of interacting services that control its computing, storage, and networking resources. Red Hat Enterprise Virtualiz ation Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization is a data center virtualization solution that allows you to manage more traditional enterprise Linux and Windows workloads. Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization provides a platform for managing virtualization hosts, virtual machines, and their storage. Red Hat Satellite Red Hat Satellite Server is a platform that allows you to manage all aspects of the life cycle of systems, from deployment to monitoring and providing updates. Red Hat Satellite Server offers a flexible solution for managing systems in a wide range of environments, including those with or without external network connectivity Component Compat ibilit y This section provides an overview of compatibility between different versions of the components included in Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure. For a full list of component compatibility, see the RHCI D eployment Planner. Known Issues The following issues have currently been identified in Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure: BZ# Under certain circumstances, attempting to connect to a virtual machine in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform environment using SSH causes a kernel panic in the networking nodes when Neutron networking is selected as the networking back end. As a work around, you can disable generic segmentation offload and TCP segmentation offload for all network interfaces on the networking node. The following script can be executed on networking nodes to automate this process: #!/bin/bash for IF in `ifconfig -a sed -ne '/^[a-z]/ { s/:.*//; p; }'`; do ethtool -K $IF gso off ethtool -K $IF tso off done for NS in `ip netns list`; do 5
10 Red Hat Cloud Infrast ruct ure 5 Release Not es for IF in `ip netns exec $NS ifconfig -a sed -ne '/^[a-z]/ { s/:.*//; p; }'`; do ip netns exec $NS ethtool -K $IF gso off ip netns exec $NS ethtool -K $IF tso off done done BZ# While Fog produces a ServiceNotAvailable error when it attempts to connect to a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Openstack Platform service that is unavailable, it produces an unexpected error when Swift is unavailable. This issue is caused by Fog expecting the value of 'openstack-service-type' to be an array where this value is the string 'object-store' for Swift. This causes attempts to refresh Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform environments without Swift to produce this error and fail to refresh. BZ# When you provision Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform using the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform installer and select Neutron networking as the networking back end, the value of the 'External networking bridge' parameter is not automatically populated, preventing virtual machines from having external network connectivity. As a work around, you can use the 'Advanced Configuration' tab for a deployment to manually edit the Neutron Networking deployment role for that deployment and set the value of the parameter to 'br-ex'. 6
