6 NEW PLAYERS RECEIVED INSTRUCTION IN MARCH Joe Boyd (Instructor), Jim Bachman, Eugene Turner, Jim Sole, Lynda Turner The bocce portion of the Senior Games was held on May 16 th, at the College Walk courts for the first time. There were nine Connesteeans participating of the total twenty-two players. Winning Connesteeans were: Charlotte White, Doris Wilson, Nancy Carson, and Phil Miller for first-place gold medals; Darien Aiken for a second-place silver medal; Carolyn Migues, Bob White, and Jim Holpp for third-place bronze medals. 8 The subcommittee put out a great spread IS IT IN?? New folks got a chance to roll the ball. Old timers got a chance to nap.
9 The Spring Season ended on Thursday, May 16 th with SEVEN of the ten teams tied for first place. Blame the rain. Anne Spencer s Team 4 would have been the undisputed champs, but for Jack Frederick s Team 9 whipping them on the last day of regular play. So on Wednesday, May 22 nd all seven teams participated in the six games of a playoff tournament. 16 On June 13th, we held our annual Play n Party at the courts. A subcommittee of four (Aiken, Boyd, Burkhart, Mason) and many volunteers gathered in the face of thunderstorm possibilities to offer to the community the chance to have a hot dog and a drink, and of course to play bocce.
