Refugee Employment Training Program (REP), a program of the CIU, is directed at all refugees who have been in the U.S. for less than five years and who reside in Los Angeles County. It offers Refugee/Immigrant Training and Employment Program (RITE), a program of the CIU, is directed to non- English and non-spanish speaking refugees and immigrants who have lived in the U.S. for over five years. Services include welfare recipient employment programs for CalWORKs eligible students, pre-job guidance, job training, and work experience programs for TANF recipients. The program provides case management, educational assessment, educational and career planning, a broad range of training and vocational education programs and job development and placement services. Work-Experience programs for TANF and GR recipients provide part-time employment of up to 20 hours per week, for full-time (12 units) students. Support services for TANF recipients also include child care, health and psychological support services, and referrals to community services. Eligibility: Must be a CalWORKS recipient. Fee: 12 college units per semester; hours per work of work study at $6.25 per hour; and books, transportation and child care provided by CalWORKs.

The campus also offers an Adult Learning Center (provides individualized instruction to improve adult basic educational skills such as reading, spelling, vocabulary, and math in preparation of the college placement examination as well as GED tests), a Child Study Center, a Senior Studies Program, a Women's and Men's Resource Center and vocational education. There are no geographic restrictions. Specialized services include an ESL Office (see the site list for details); services for students who have disabilities; and a center for learning assistance. Support services for all students include academic, career, and personal counseling; financial assistance; health services; childcare; and job placement assistance. The program also provides vocational education in a variety of industrial occupations and trades.. Specialized services for students who have disabilities include registration assistance, counseling, tutoring, and in-class assistance. The center for learning assistance provides instruction, tutoring, workshops, and supplemental media materials to help improve students' learning skills. Eligibility: You are 18 years of age or older; OR You have graduated from high school, GED, or high school equivalency certificate; OR You are under 18 years of age and have not graduated from high school but have permission from your high school principal and your parents. Fee: Enrollment fees for California residents- $20/unit, non residents- $194/unit, International students - $204/unit. Classes consist of lecture and lab to develop practical skills in fields such as air conditioning/refrigeration, auto body, auto mechanics, aviation maintenance, cabinet/furniture making, carpentry technology, CNC computer numerical control, diesel mechanics, horticulture, machine tool technology, sheet metal, and welding technology. Eligibility: You are 18 years of age or older; OR You have graduated from high school, GED, or high school equivalency certificate. Fee: Enrollment fees for California residents- $20/unit, non residents- $194/unit, International students - $204/unit. Health Fee- $11

The Senior Studies Program offers credit and non-credit classes for older adults age 55 and older to enhance job skills and meet educational goals. Studies for students age 55 and older include information about the college system; counseling; assistance with class registration; and specialized classes on topics which may include law for seniors, art, nutrition, and national affairs. LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH: Cambodian, Spanish, Vietnamese. Eligibility: Students age 55 or older. Must be an LBCC student.
