17 Conclusions An interdisciplinary doctoral program was initiated by the DLR Institute of Aerospace Medicine in close cooperation with several partner universities. The time span from the initial idea to the start of the program was ~18 months. SpaceLife supports the progress of the theses and allows the participants to make contacts in the scientific community. SpaceLife gives an overview on current research in space life sciences and will foster interdisciplinary thinking.
