1 BLUES ON TAP Blues, R&B, Jazz Blues on Tap is a blues, R&B and jazz band of veteran musicians. In addition to playing in festivals and clubs throughout the Pacific Northwest, Blues on Tap s band members have performed in Canada, Asia, Australia, and Europe. Blues on Tap was nominated by the Washington Blues Society for the Best New Blues Band of 2013, and the band s Steve Peterson was nominated for Best Male Blues Singer. With a devoted fan base, the band uses its substantial mailing list and social media to promote all its musical events. They have performed weekly for over two years at 88 Keys in Pioneer Square, Seattle. Two band members (Bruce and Ray) were recently on the cover of and interviewed in Big City Blues Magazine (see cover below). For booking, see contact information below. 2 Ray Hartman Bass & Vocals Having started playing bass professionally at 18 years old, Ray Hartman now puts down Blues on Tap s solid bass foundation. Since the 1960s Ray has played in many blues bands in the Pacific Northwest, Asia and Australia, having the opportunity to play with many of the Pacific Northwest s top musicians. These included a long stint with the Dick Powell Band in the 1980s and 1990s, which included opening for B.B. King and the James Cotton Band. Ray was a founding member of the Stacy Jones Band, playing with the band in the 2000s. Blues on Tap is fortunate to have such a seasoned professional anchoring the bass end musically. Steve Peterson Guitar & Vocals Steve Peterson has been nominated by the Washington Blues Society for the Best Male Blues Singer in Steve has been an active member of the Pacific Northwest music community for over 30 years. In the 1970s he played in the band Key to the Hiway, and more recently played in several Pacific Northwest bands including 3 Left Feet, Vinyl Transit, Bay, Hearts & Diamonds, Fishbone Super Band, and currently Blues on Tap. Steve s vocal style is throaty and full-bodied, his vocal influences including Delbert McClinton, Lou Rawls and B.B. King. Steve s guitar playing is stinging and lyrical, influenced by Ronnie Earl, Kenny Burrell and Eric Clapton. Besides electric blues, Steve is also active in acoustic folk music, sitting on the board of Victory Music and being a contributing writer to multiple issues of Victory Review. Jim Plano Drums Jim Plano has been a veteran of the West Coast music scene since the 1960 s. He was drummer for the Crome Syrcus ( ) in Seattle and San Francisco, which opened for the Doors, Creedence Clearwater, Big Brother & the Holding Company, Three Dog Night, Traffic, Taj Mahal, and many others. Jim was also drummer for The Second Coming ( ), Dave Conant & the D-Rangers (1990 s), Daddy Treetops (1990 s), the Isaac Scott Band (1990 s), the Paul Butterfield Band, and the J.B. Hutto Band, and has shared the stage with Albert Collins. Jim has recorded on over 20 CD s, 12 LP albums, and 18 singles with the Crome Syrcus, Dave Conant & the D-Rangers, Eric Two Scoops Moore, and others. Bruce Ransom Guitar Imprinting on the fertile New Orleans music scene and his years of playing with Big Time Blues Man Isaac Scott, Bruce Ransom s blues, R&B and funk guitar style exhibits striking melodies and syncopated rhythms. While living in New Orleans, Bruce got his first guitar at age 14. Two years later he moved to Seattle, and after playing in several rock bands was tapped at age 19 for the R&B band of Ron Holden, with the multi-million selling single Love You So. After playing in the Mud Bay Blues Band for four years, in the 1990s he served as guitarist and musical director for R&B diva Mauva Belle, recording two CD s with her. Bruce played and recorded with Isaac Scott for several years until his untimely death in 2001, and subsequently handled guitar duties for Hurricane Andrew Larsen s Girl Trouble Blues, and was awarded the Washington Blues Society s Best of the Blues Award for the Best New/Reformed Band. Prominent musicians Bruce has shared the stage with include Taj Mahal, Elvin Bishop, Roy Gaines, Kenny Neal, Billy Branch, Jimmy Burns, Mitch Woods, Deanna Bogart, Leon Blue, Barrelhouse Chuck, and Eden Brent.
