Introduction The world is unpredictable and unfortunately filled with potential dangers and threats for women, children, aged persons, etc. There is an urgent need for an Electronic Personal Safety Device which can send SOS message in emergency. When it comes to protecting our women, children or senior citizens, personal GPS tracking is becoming an affordable solution. The need for monitoring of children on their journeys to and from school or on Holidays and monitoring of Senior Citizens especially those suffering the early signs of dementia and Alzheimer s is very critical now a days. An electronic Personal Safety Device (epsd) is a device to send a distress message on a single click during emergency to provide timely help to the person in distress and thus reduce the crime rates. The device should have facility to acquire the current position and send it wirelessly to predefined numbers or to an emergency number / portal. The usage of device has to be simple and user friendly. It should be robust and compact and can be effectively carried by individuals and used by them to send SOS messages (using GPRS) and location information (using GPS) to pre-defined phone numbers. 2.
