1 Healthcare Incident Management System Explore Knowledge Center s Healthcare Incident Management System (HIMS) ¾¾ Integrated Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) ¾¾ Created for the specialized, continuous use healthcare requires ¾¾ Unites real-time communication capabilities with critical situational awareness tools ¾¾ Incident, Triage, Resource, Critical Infrastructure and Document management tools ¾¾ Connects your responders keeping you aware, informed, and making a difference ¾¾ Proven performance for managing incidents and events
2 Why Knowledge Center? Knowledge Center in Action Proven Providing Unsurpassed Situational Awareness Between EMA and Healthcare like no other incident management solution Optimized for specialized, continuous usage in real-time Integrated with HICS-based incident, resource, critical infrastructure, and document management Interoperable to eliminate duplication of entries across systems already in place Unprecedented coordination across EMS & Public Safety Knowledge Center has the HICS forms fully integrated into the system so that as the IAP/ICP is developed (Objectives, Organization Chart, Communication, Medical, etc ) it is compiled and housed as an integrated part of the incident. From the IAP/ICP screen above, user may print a fully integrated IAP/ICP upon creation, along with any relevant documents to be included as part of the plan. Fully integrated HICS forms Easily print a single report or the entire IAP/ ICP Identify completed reports at a glance Attach documents to accompany HICS forms Quick access to HICS forms through hyperlinks Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm (TS) Lee brought many challenges to the Emergency Management Agencies and Hospitals of Southeastern Pennsylvania. Fortunately, because the Regional Task Force and the local hospitals utilize the Knowledge Center software suite s incident management system software, communication, resource management, incident management and documentation capabilities were greatly enhanced. The integration of Knowledge Center s EMA (KC) and Healthcare products provided a real-time common operating picture and critical situational awareness for both, the community emergency management personnel and hospital emergency management personnel, creating the optimal environment for coordinated response efforts. Ed Atkins, Director of the Department of Emergency Services for the SEPA RTF s Chester County commented, The combination of the hospitals on HIMS and the emergency managers on KC provides us all with a better sense of what is going on, where there are trouble spots, and more importantly where trouble is developing. The HIMS/KC combination lets us all do a better job faster. Distributed Use, Virtual EOC Access All of the information made available by KC and HIMS was provided by emergency management personnel. It was distributed throughout the affected areas in many different agencies, from State to Municipal, creating a common operating picture from which all could reap the benefits. This increased efficiencies because the information came from a trusted source. Tom Grace, VP of Health Services and Emergency Preparedness of the DVHC commented, In the past, most of the information came from the press so we had to call to verify the info which took time from both parties. Now the information comes through self-reporting, so we know that it is valid and can respond to it real-time, or at minimum be aware of it if it isn t vital to our situation. During the storms, some KC and HIMS users were unable to leave their homes, or wanted to access the software in the off hours. Both KC and HIMS are Web-based systems, so access from outside of the EOC was not a problem and over 5000 log entries and 160 incidents were entered and reviewed by KC and HIMS users, who shared information about various activities such as the ones mentioned above. Grace knows this is extremely important. He stressed that responsible emergency management means being aware, assessing and making a logical decision to benefit the health and welfare of all involved in the response effort and those they serve.
3 Comprehensive Capabilities Patient Tracking Tracks patients from Mass Casualty Incidents based on Priority Color coded priority fields Integrates field data from handhelds Allows EMS Coordination Evacuation Tracking Tracks patients for evacuation based on Priority Tallies patient totals by Priority throughout the process Provides the ability to upload patients from a template Reunification Store detailed patient reunification data Search Triage patients for the closest match Merge records when a match has been determined Action Requests Mission Tasking Action Requests provide the ability to poll the deployment for resource status, overall status, or ask basic questions of the user base. All data is tabulated for reporting purposes. It is also used to assess bed availability and fulfill Federal HAvBED requirements. Browser Agnostic HIMS provides a dynamic, web-based Internet accessible front-end interface that is browser agnostic and performs well with Internet Explorer, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari. It is also mobile enabled and formatted to function properly on ipad, Droid and Windows based tablets. HIMS provides a Mission Tasking function that incorporates Requests, Assignments, Taskings and displays Status throughout the lifecycle. Users may create, prioritize, and set objectives for each mission. HIMS tracks who created the mission and their organization, as well as the percent complete and whether or not the mission is on schedule. Each mission is linked to an event, and as resources are released and missions are closed, resource information is retained in the incident for reporting and cost recovery purposes. Action Request Alerts Mission Tasks Alerting In addition, HIMS provided these additional Alert notifications: Incident/Event Alerts notifies users of new incidents Resource Request Alerts notifies resource owners that their resource has been requested Missing Assignment Alerts notifies users that a mission is being requested of them Action Request Alerts notifies users that a response is requested Triage Alerts notifies users that a triage patient is being sent to their facility Triage HAvBED Patient Tracking Evacuation Action Request ipad/tablet HAvBED Reunification
4 Knowledge Center connects your hospital s responders to their resources across the event to keep you aware, informed, and making a difference. Daily-use Healthcare-specific Interoperable Created for the specialized continuous use hospitals require, Knowledge Center HIMS unites real time communication capabilities with HICS-based incident, resource, critical infrastructure, and document management. With Knowledge Center, hospital emergency managers can coordinate and effectively manage incidents, develop future operational plans, prepare comprehensive periodic reports, track information requests, and maintain accurate records. Instead of searching for information, healthcare providers can look to Knowledge Center for a consolidated view of their critical information. Knowledge Center is based on a service-oriented, open architecture that easily integrates with third party tools. Because of this design, Knowledge Center can seamlessly integrate with a wide variety of emergency and incident management tools, bed tracking systems, and other applications. For example, Knowledge Center connects your hospital to your local public service partners. Patient/Triage tracking Evacuation tracking Casualty tracking Reunification Bed Availability (HAvBED) Hazard Vulnerability (HVA) Public service partners Bed tracking systems Mapping (GIS) Situation Reporting (SITREP) After Action Reports (AAR) Knowledge Center provides a comprehensive set of tools outof-the-box to develop a real-time common operating picture and integrate resources through a virtual collaborative environment. Knowledge Center is designed specifically for hospitals to provide rapid access to information to decision makers in an easily understood format.
