1 Page1 CONFIGURING THE CISCO VPN CLIENT TO CONNECT TO ESEYE MOBILE NETWORK MICROSOFT WINDOWS 7 The following instructions are for Microsoft Windows 7, and have been tested on Windows 7 64 Bit, SP1 with Cisco VPN client vpnclient-winx64-msi k9 was tested. Please visit for additional information. If you have a Cisco account, you may wish to download the client directly. Otherwise, the please contact Eseye for the VPN client software. 1. Check that the PC clock is set correctly. Click on the clock in the system tray, and in the pop up, select Change Date and Time Settings 2. In the Date and Time window, Select the Internet Time tab 3. Click on Change Settings, and allow Administrator privileges if necessary. 4. In the Internet Time Settings window, verify that Synchronise with an Internet time 5. server is ticked, a server is selected, and press Update now 6. Press OK to close the time setting windows. 7. The client is supplied as an installable archive file. To install run the executable file:vpnclient-winx64-msi k9.exe

2 Page2 8. Double click on the file, and use the self extractor. It is recommended to use the default destination folder. (Change the folder only if necessary) 9. Click Unzip and verify that 7 files were unzipped successfully. Press OK 10. Windows 7will warn that the program is unknown. Click Yes I trust this program 11. Click Next to the Welcome screen. 12. Read and accept the license conditions, continue by pressing Next 13. Accept the installation destination folder. Then press Next 14. and Next again to install 1. Wait for your computer to complete 'Updating System'

3 Page3 15. Click Finish to complete installation. You will need to reboot, after installation. 16. Press Yes to reboot

4 Page4 CONFIGURATION OF THE VPN CLIENT Having rebooted after the install the next task is to configure the client itself. Authentication is a two stage process. The first is 'Group Access' followed by 'User Access'. 1. Start the Cisco VPN client from the Start Programs Cisco Systems VPN Client VPN Client 2. When the VPN Client has initialised itself, the following window is displayed: 3. Click on New and the New VPN configuration window appears: 4. The Connection Entry field, is a friendly name for your reference. We suggest you use 'Eseye,' with a Description of 'Eseye cellular connectivity'. The Host is er1.eseye.net. Ensure Group Authentication is selected. 5. Add the name and Preshared Key provided to you by Eseye in the name and password fields of the window before selecting Save. NOTE: the group name and pre-shared key need to be typed exactly as provided i.e. a single capital letter, followed by lower-case letters.

5 Page5 6. In the main Cisco VPN window, Click on the Connect icon, and the User Authentication window appears: 7. Enter your user name, and password (exactly as provided by Eseye). Note that this field should contain the password (not the pre-shared key) click OK. NOTE: the user name and password need to be typed exactly as provided i.e. a single capital letter, followed by lower-case letters. 8. If everything is correct, a small confirmation window will appear before all the windows disappear: 9. You are now connected, and the VPN client has added itself to your system tray 10. To disconnect, right click on the Control Panel icon, and select Disconnect. 11. If you wish to confirm connection to the VPN, start a command Window and type: route print Check that: The interface list includes Cisco Systems VPN adapter In the IPV4 route table the Network Destination with Netmask still lists your gateway onto the Internet (normally your router s IP address) There will be either 1 or two entries in the IPV4 table similar to xxx.0 or 10.0.xxx.0 and 10.8.xxx.0 (depending upon the Interconnect you are using) and they both route to an address similar to 192.xxx.yyy.zzz the exact details will depend on your specific VPN.

6 Page6 CONFIGURING THE SOFTWARE FOR AUTO RECONNECT Normally the client software will drop the connection after an hour of inactivity, or if the network connection is temporarily broken. The client software supports automatic reconnection, but this cannot be configured from the GUI. The instructions below show how to update the software. 1. Verify that the VPN client software is not running. 2. From Windows explorer, open the directory C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client 3. Edit the file VPNClient.ini using Notepad or another editor 4. In the section Main Add or modify the following lines of configuration in bold: [main] ClientLanguage= EnableLog=1 ConnectOnOpen=1 AutoInitiationEnable=1 AutoInitiationRetryInterval=1 AutoInitiationList=MyVPNtoEseye [MyVPNtoEseye] Network= Mask= ConnectionEntry= YourVPNName [GUI] DefaultConnectionEntry=YourVPNName WindowWidth=813 WindowHeight=670 WindowX=549 WindowY=374 VisibleTab=0 ConnectionAttribute=1 AdvancedView=0 Note thatyourvpnname is the name of the.pcf file in the folder C:\Program Files(x86)\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\Profiles e.g. for a pcf file of Eseye.pcf, the AutoInitiationList would be set to Eseye. Note that Connection Atttribute must be 1 and Advanced View must be set to Save the configuration File. 6. Start the VPN Client software, and note that the default VPN connection is immediately started, the connection to the VPN is made and the VPN padlock icon 7. appears in the tooltray. 8. To test the reconnection, break the network connection to the computer for seconds, and then remake it e.g. Disconnect the network cable. Wait for 1 minute, and verify that the VPN has reconnected.
