2 The Problem One of the key factors in controlling labor costs and optimizing the company s resources is employee productivity in the workplace. The old business adage Time is money holds true even today and every minute wasted directly affects companies bottom line. Companies continuously strive to improve employee productivity without disturbing the work-life balance of its employees. Lord Kelvin once famously said, If you cannot measure it, you cannot improve it. But the definition of productivity varies and therefore, so do the means of measuring it. The Solution Time Trove is that instrument of measurement, which can help enterprises increase their employees productivity. Time Trove is an enterprise software focused on helping employees enhance productivity by tracking the time they spend on various activities on the computer, analyzing and categorizing activities, and generating summarized as well as detailed reports on how well the employee has utilized his/her time. How does it work? The Time Trove architecture consists of an unobtrusive, light-weight agent on every computer in the organization that monitors usage. It quietly logs every activity that the user performs and the time spent on each. All this data is transmitted securely to the organization s Time Trove Server (a web application residing on the intranet web server) and detailed reports are generated for every user, department and the entire organization. These reports can then be viewed The time trove client agent by authorized management users (admin, dept. admin etc.) and analyzed for employee usage behavior and productivity. Moreover, each employee can access his/her reports for self-analysis and consequent productivity enhancement. Time Trove can be deployed on a user s computer in one of the following three modes: Administrative mode - The user reports define productivity by selecting activities to be included in Time Trove s statistics and by categorizing activities according to his/her preferences. The reports can also be viewed by administrative users. Reports (read only) mode - The user can view his/her reports but cannot define productivity or categorize activities, which can only be done by administrative users. Restrictive mode - The user can not see the client agent and is not aware of Time Trove s presence on his/her computer.

3 Activities Time Trove monitors actvities on the computer. Using an applications like software development IDEs, image editing softwares etc. or surfing a websites constitutes an activity. Timeline and bar graphs for activities and software Clicking on an activity in any graph will reveal the time spent on individual sub activities. For e.g - every file opened in an application or all the pages visited on a web browser are sub activities. Bar chart showing sub activities under google.co.in Offline Activities Apart from monitoring online activities, Time Trove lets employees add offline activities to their reports. An important phone call or a meeting with a client are just some of the activitites that can be reported. The offline time note feature enables Time Trove to present a more comprehensive picture about the employee s productivity.

4 Categories Categories are used to group together similar software, which helps employees and enterprises understand productivity patterns. Bar charts illustrating user productivity by category. Clicking on any category will reveal time spent on all activities belonging to that catgory. Each category can be alloted a score based on how productive it is for the employee. The score will be applicable to all the activities belonging to that category. Individual scores can also be alloted their own scores different from the ones alloted to the catgory they belong to.

5 Productivity Time Trove defines productivity scores for users based on the scores defined for activities and categories. Productivity score, split and timeline productivity charts for a single user Users can be grouped together based on factors such as department, location etc. and the statistics collected provide an excellent way to determine efficiency benchmarks for users within groups.

6 Administration Timetrove allows the central administrator to define privileges for a single user or for a group of users. Administrators can choose 1 of 3 privilege settings for users. Certain activities can be excluded from being reported on the Time Trove dashboard. This ensures unwanted activities such as system processes do not show up in the reports.
