RESEARCH INTERESTS In general my research interests comprise a wide area of research activities which have addressed to diverse application areas of signal processing, speech and image processing namely, and their real-time implementation, using the soft computing techniques such as artificial neural networks, genetic algorithm, particle swarm and taboo search to. This wide area of research activities can be traced on the projects I have involved as a principal investigator or researcher. Also in recent years, my research activities focus on the Implementation of Signal Processing and Pattern Recognition Techniques on Embedded Systems, especially on FPGA (Field Programming Gate Arrays) for real-time applications. I have successfully established a research group at Nigde University and conducted several projects funded by national funding organizations to set up a laboratory and we have recently completed several projects on this field (please check the project list under the title Funded Research Projects for further information) In recent three years, I have involved several projects related to developing enhanced engineering education and e-learning, m-learning (mobile-learning) environments. We have conducted two projects and published numerous papers on the engineering education and training. LEGO Mindstorms NXTrobots and Scratch ( are used in this projects as a new and attractive educational tools. In this line, we have proposed a couple of projects and these are still under review process.

2 I have also interested in medical application of signal processing and have recently proposed a project to TUBİTAK to diagnose the lung related illness using the sound analysis of the patient obtained by a stethoscope and machine learning methods. The research topic was the bimodal feature fusion for emotion detection from speech data and face image.
