1 Puerto Rico Practical Shooting Association Multi-Gun Match Rules Revised January 20, Safety Rules 1.1 Participants are subject to match disqualification for violation of any rule or regulation in sections 1 or All Puerto Rico Practical Shooting Association Multi-Gun matches will be run on COLD RANGES COLD RANGE (definition): Competitor s firearms will remain unloaded at the match site except under the direction of a match official. 1.3 Designated Safety Areas Designated Safety Areas (if any) will be clearly marked with signs ONLY unloaded firearms may be handled and/or displayed in the Safety Areas No ammunition, snap caps, dummies, or loaded magazines may be handled in any Safety Area Competitors may only handle their guns on a stage with the permission of or under the direction of the range officer Rifles and Shotguns (carry from vehicle or between stages) Rifles and shotguns must be cased or carried slung with muzzle up Rifles and shotguns must have a chamber safety flag in place and detachable magazines removed Once at a stage, rifles and shotguns must remain cased, in a gun cart, or in a gun rack until it is your turn to shoot. 1.5 Handguns (carry from vehicle or between stages) Handguns must be cased or remain in holster, magazine removed except in designated safety areas, or under the direction of the Range Officer(s) on a stage Handguns must be carried with the Hammer/Striker Down No handling of uncased Handguns in the parking lot On stages, the Ready Condition of Handguns must be Hammer Down for DA autos & revolvers, and Cocked and Locked for SA autos or DA autos with override safeties. 1.6 No participants or spectators shall consume or be under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs at the match site. Any participant found to be impaired and deemed unsafe as a result of legitimate prescription drugs may be directed to stop shooting and requested to leave the range. 1.7 Eye protection in mandatory for participants, spectators and range personnel at the match site.

2 1.8 Ear protection is mandatory for participants, spectators and range personnel while on or near a stage of fire. 2. Disqualifications Match Disqualification will result in complete disqualification from match and the shooter will not be allowed to continue with the match. Shooter will not be eligible for prizes. Final decision will be with the Match Director. 2.2 Match Disqualification for Negligent Discharge Negligent Discharge is defined as the discharge of a firearm in an unsafe manner or unintentionally in which the projectile (bullet) strikes the ground within 3 meters of the competitor or range officer, or outside the confines of the backstop The discharge of a firearm in the loading/unloading process is considered a Negligent Discharge regardless of where the projectile strikes the ground. 2.3 A participant shall be disqualified from the Match for dropping a loaded firearm, for dropping a firearm while in the loading/unloading process and for dropping a firearm or causing it to fall at any time during a course of fire, loaded or not. 2.4 A participant shall be disqualified for allowing the muzzle of his/her firearm to break the 180 degree Safety Plane (except while holstering, drawing or re-holstering). 2.5 A participant shall be disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct, which includes, but is not limited to filing to comply with the reasonable directions of a Match Official. 2.6 A participant shall be disqualified for cheating, which includes, but is not limited to: Intentionally altering targets prior to the target being scored to gain an advantage or avoid a penalty Altering or falsifying score sheets Altering the configuration of firearms or equipment to gain advantage. (See rules 5.3, 5.4, and 5.5) 2.7 A participant shall be disqualified for unsafe gun-handling. This includes, but is not limited to: handling a gun while people are downrange, handling a gun on a stage without permission of the range officer, abandoning a gun in an unsafe direction or in an unsafe manner, and grounding a firearm in violation of rules 10.1 or ALL disqualifications and reshoots will be issued by the Match Director. 3. Sportsmanship and Conduct 3.1 Participants and spectators are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous, sportsmanlike manner at all times. Disputes will be handled promptly and fairly by the Match Director. 3.2 Clothing with any offensive or obscene logos, sayings, pictures or drawings will not be worn or displayed while at the match site/range.

3 3.3 Violation of magazine/ammunition limitations in Tactical and He-Man Classes will result in the shooter being placed in Open Class for the entire match. (See rules 6.3.3, & 6.8.9) 3.4 RO s may assess additional unsportsmanlike conduct penalties to competitors that intentionally fail to make a good faith effort to engage and hit targets in order to gain advantage. The Match Director shall be the final arbiter of any such penalties. 4. Ammunition 4.1 No tracer, incendiary, armor piercing, or steel jacketed ammunition is allowed. 4.2 Pistol/Revolver ammunition shall be 9x19 or larger. (HM Class:.45ACP &.45 GAP only; Junior Category: 22 LR.) 4.3 Rifle ammunition shall be 9mm,.223 Remington (5.56 NATO) or larger. (HM Class:.308 Winchester/7.62x51 NATO or 30-06/7.62x63 NATO only; Junior Category: 22 LR.) 4.4 Shotgun ammunition shall be 20 gauge or larger. LEAD SHOT ONLY. (HM Class: 12 gauge minimum; Junior and Senior Categories:.410 gauge.) 5. Firearms All firearms used by competitors shall be serviceable and safe. 5.2 If a competitor s firearm becomes unserviceable during competition, that competitor may replace his/her firearm with another of the same model, caliber and sighting system if approved by the Match Director or his designee. 5.3 For purposes of this ruling, a firearm consists of a specific caliber, receiver, barrel, and stock and sighting system combination. 5.4 The same firearm system, for each gun, per Rule 5.3 shall be used during the entire match. 5.5 Competitors will not reconfigure any firearm during the course of a match. (i.e. change caliber, barrel length, sighting system or stock style.) 5.6 No full auto, burst fire, or bump shooting stocks will be allowed. 6. Firearms Classification: Open Class, Tactical Class (Scoped, Limited or Iron Sight), He-Man 6.1 Handgun Open Class No limitations on accessories (see Rule 5.3) Magazine length may not exceed 170 mm. 6.2 Handgun Tactical Class (Scoped, Limited or Iron Sight) Firearms must be of factory configuration Internal modifications are allowed provided that they do not alter the original factory configuration of the handgun Firearms with custom or factory installed electronic sights, optical sights, extended sights, compensators or barrel porting are NOT allowed in this class.

4 6.2.4 Magazines used shall not exceed 170mm overall length for single stacks, and shall not exceed 140mm OAL for staggered magazines. 6.3 Handgun He-Man Class Handguns must comply with the Tactical Class handgun rules All handguns must be.45 ACP or.45 GAP only Pistol magazines in the HM Class shall not be loaded with more than ten (10) rounds Rifle Open Class No limitations on accessories. (See Rules 5.3, 5.4 & 5.5) 6.5 Rifle Tactical Class (Scoped, Limited or Iron Sight) Firearms must be of a factory configuration. (See Rules 5.3, 5.4, 5.5) Internal modifications are allowed provided that the modifications do not alter the original factory configuration of the rifle Rifle external supporting devices (i.e. bipods, vertical grip, etc.) are not allowed in this class Rifle may have a compensator that is not more than 1 in diameter and 3 long No drum magazines or beta/c mags allowed in this class Tactical Class Iron Sight rifles may be equipped exclusively with iron sights Tactical Class Limited rifles may be equipped with no more than one (1) non-magnified electronic or optical sight. Electronic or optical sights originally designed to be capable of any magnification (whether used or not) are prohibited Tactical Class Scoped rifles may be equipped with no more than one (1) electronic or optical sight. A supplemental magnifier may be used with the permitted electronic or optical sight provided that the magnifier does not contain an aiming reticle, cannot be used as an aiming device by itself, and remains mounted in the same location on the rifle for the duration of the event. A competitor may use the magnifier in either the magnified or unmagnified mode without restriction Rifle He-Man Class (Iron sighted rifles) Rifles in HM must comply with the Tactical Class Iron Sights rules. (Rule ) Rifles in HM Class will be.308/7.62x51 NATO or 30-06/7.62x63 NATO only Rifle magazines in HM Class shall not be loaded with more than twenty (20) rounds. 6.7 Shotgun Open Class No limitations on accessories. (See Rules 5.3, 5.4, and 5.5) Barrel length shall not be changed for the duration of the match Magazine tube length shall not be changed for the duration of the match.

5 6.7.4 Shotgun speed loaders are allowed in Open Class Shotgun speed loaders must be the new type with the primer relief cut Use of Shotgun speed loaders without the primer relief cut will result in Match Disqualification. (See Appendix A1) 6.8 Shotgun Tactical Class (Scoped, Limited or Iron Sight) Shotguns must be of factory configuration. (See Rules 5.3, 5.4, and 5.5) Barrel length may not be changed for the duration of the match Magazine tube length shall not be changed for the duration of the match Internal modifications are allowed providing the modifications do not alter the factory configuration of the shotgun No electronic or optical sights are allowed on shotguns in this class No shotgun supporting devices (i.e. bipods) are allowed in this class No compensators or porting on barrels are allowed in this class No shotgun speed loaders or removable magazines are allowed in this class No shotgun in tactical class may start a stage with more than 9 rounds total in the shotgun. 6.9 Shotgun He-Man Class Shotguns must comply with Tactical Shotgun Rules (6.8) Shotguns in this class must be 12 gauge only Shotguns in this class must be pump actions only. 7. Holsters and Equipment 7.1 Handgun holsters and other 3-gun equipment All Classes 7.2 The handgun holster must be capable of retaining the handgun during the vigorous movement that may be required or otherwise encountered during the course of fire. 7.3 The handgun holster must allow the competitor to safely draw and reholster the handgun without causing the muzzle to point in an unsafe direction at any time The handgun holster must completely cover and protect the handgun s trigger guard. 7.5 The competitor shall use the same handgun holster for the duration of the match. 7.6 Spare ammunition, magazines, speed loaders and other equipment must be secured in pouches, pockets and/or carriers on the competitor s person or firearm. 7.7 The competitor may not abandon any equipment during the course of fire except detachable magazines, speed loaders or ammunition clips. 8. Classes and Categories

6 8.1 Open Class Any Open Class gun OR Open Class Equipment puts the competitor in Open Class for the entire match See firearms Classification (Rule 6) for details. 8.2 Tactical Class Iron Sighted Rifle Competitor will shoot a Tactical Handgun (Rule 6.2), Tactical Shotgun (Rule 6.6) and a Tactical Rifle with Iron Sights (Rule 6.5.6). 8.3 Tactical Class Limited Rifle Competitor will shoot a Tactical Handgun (Rule 6.2), Tactical Shotgun (Rule 6.6) and a Tactical Rifle with a single non-magnified electronic or optical sight (Rule 6.5.7). 8.4 Tactical Class Scoped Rifle Competitor will shoot a Tactical Handgun (Rule 6.2), Tactical Shotgun (Rule 6.6) and a Tactical Rifle with a single electronic or optical sight (Rule 6.5.8). 8.5 He-Man Class Iron Sighted Rifle Competitor must shoot a He-Man Handgun (Rule 6.3), He-Man Shotgun (Rule 6.9) and a He-Man Rifle with Iron Sights (Rule 6.6) 8.6 Junior Category A competitor that is at most 15 years will shoot in the Junior category in any of the above defined classes Minimum handgun caliber will be 22 LR. If the competitor uses 22 LR, the following will apply: If the course of fire starts with the handgun, the shooter will start with the handgun at a 45 degree angle and with a loaded magazine and empty chamber regardless of the conditions indicated in the stage description If the course of fire starts with a different firearm, the handgun will start grounded in compliance with rule 10.2 on the location that the Range Officer deems to be as close as possible to the location where the firearm previously used will be grounded Minimum rifle caliber will be 22 LR Metal targets engaged with 22 LR must be hit, but do not have to fall to score. If the stage includes metal targets that activate mechanisms which present other targets, those targets shall be displayed and available as if they had completed their motion if they are not disappearing targets. If a metal target activates a mechanism that presents a disappearing target, such target will not be available to shoot. In all cases the metal target must be hit before engaging the targets that it would normally cause to be available. If the shooter fails to comply with this, one penalty for each shot fired at these targets will be assessed Minimum shotgun caliber will be.410.

7 8.7 Senior Category 9. Scoring A competitor that is at least 60 years old will shoot in the Senior category in any of the above defined classes Minimum shotgun caliber will be All scoring will be Comstock as per the latest edition of the IPSC Handgun Competition Rule Book. 9.2 All classes and all firearms are scored as minor except for He-Man Class, which will be scored as major for all firearms. 9.3 Frangible targets (i.e. clay pigeons) must break to score (one BB hole is a break). 9.4 Only RO s may call hits, if an RO calls a hit, it s a hit. 10. Grounding Firearms 10.1 During the course requirements of a Multi-Gun stage, a competitor may be required to ground a firearm in order to transition to another. During the stage briefing, the location(s) where a competitor is authorized to ground a firearm shall be clearly specified The following provisions outline the only acceptable ways to ground a firearm during a course of fire in the location(s) specified in the stage briefing: a. Completely unloaded/empty (NO rounds in the gun). b. Loaded, safety engaged pointing to the ground or pointing downrange, provided that the course of fire prevents the shooter and the range officer from being in front of the firearm. If the course of fire allows the possibility for the shooter or the range officer to be in front of the grounded firearm it shall be grounded per 10.2a.
