2 Welcome to the Department of Pediatric at Poznań University of Medical Sciences. The main goal of our Classes is to provide a base of information regarding anesthetic management of surgical patient as well as pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of critically ill patients treated in intensive therapy unit. Specific targets of our Classes are as follows: 1. To understand the role of intensive care and invasive monitoring in unconscious, critically ill patient. 2. To achieve some practical skills related to the anesthetic management of surgical patient. 3. To increase the knowledge of acute respiratory failure with special emphasis on practical management 4. To improve the knowledge of pathophysiology of shock. Students taking the Clerkship spend a total of 2 weeks in the Departments. This period consists of seminars and clinical activities in operating rooms and intensive care units of : 1 st Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy ( Lord s Transfiguration University Hospital ul. Długa 1/2) Department of Pediatric (Karol Jonscher s University Hospital, ) Department of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Therapy and Pain Treatment (Heliodor Święcicki ) Your Classes in for subgroups A1, A2 will start on April 25 th 2016 and will last for two weeks till May 6 th 2016, and for subgroups B1, B2 from May 9 th 2016 till May 20 th Details regarding further arrangement will be given on the first day of the Classes.
