Dear Reader The Asset Management business unit, which has around 350 employees, is responsible for the maintenance and technical and commercial management of SBB Cargo s entire vehicle fleet. Comprising the areas fleet technology, fleet management, maintenance, and purchasing and maintenance logistics, Asset Management is a key element in quality assurance. We lease locomotives and freight wagons and offer you a complete range of maintenance services carried out to Swiss quality standards. Low-noise freight wagons account for 90 % of our fleet, making us the top European carrier in this respect. In addition, our environmentally friendly shunting locomotives with hybrid drive systems support SBB Cargo s efforts to keep cutting CO 2 emissions. Nine up-to-date maintenance workshops and service centres ensure that our rolling stock is always in perfect working order. They are backed up by our mobile teams, which repair wagons and locomotives on the spot. Wherever we carry out maintenance and repairs, we always attach great importance to fast, top-quality work. That is the only way to guarantee that all our vehicles remain in optimum condition and meet our stringent safety requirements at all times. Of course, our service is not limited to SBB and SBB Cargo. We are always happy to help private wagon owners and the rolling stock industry. SBB Cargo Asset Management is divided into four areas: fleet technology, fleet management, maintenance, and purchasing and maintenance logistics. This organisational structure means we are ideally positioned to cover all rolling-stock-related needs and quickly respond to our customers wishes. Light maintenance and repairs to locomotives and freight wagons are carried out in the maintenance workshops in Basel, Muttenz, the Lausanne-Triage marshalling yard, the Limmattal marshalling yard in Dietikon, Erstfeld and Chiasso, or at the service facilities in Olten, Brig and Bellinzona. SBB Cargo fosters a safety culture focused on prevention and risk awareness and ensures that our safety standards are met at all times. All employees in safety-related posts receive comprehensive training and a working environment optimised to fully meet their requirements. Managers are careful to set a good example and act as role models for safe behaviour. SBB Cargo has the following certificates: Quality management to ISO 9001 ECM, Certificate for the Entity in Charge of Maintenance Welding requirements in the service facilities to ISO/EN 3834 and EN GTP, hygiene requirements for grain and feedstuffs As a full-service provider, we offer our customers locomotives (including shunting locomotives) and freight wagons for lease or purchase.
