There are 12 possible starting dates per year. This will enable you to develop your language skills and combine any number of courses to create a systematic language-learning program. At the start of your course we will ask you about your individual learning goals and follow up with ongoing support during the learning process. This results in tight integration of the classroom lessons, selfstudy activities and practice. At all levels you also have the option of taking one of our examinations, which are recognized around the world. The minimum duration is one week, and you can start any week. Beginners can join only at the start of courses. For more information, please contact the institute. For participants who only have two weeks and want to activate their German language skills. You will take part in an Intensive 4 course for two weeks. At the start of your course we will ask you about your individual learning goals and follow up with ongoing support during the learning process. 4 Intensive courses Intensive courses HEIDELBERG SUMMER COURSE two weeks UI (20 UI per week) max. class size: 16 1,520 The dates indicate the arrival and departure dates, and not the course dates. First week: 8:30 a.m. 12:00 noon; second week: 8:30 a.m. 12:45 The Heidelberg Summer Course will sweep you away to one of Germany s most beautiful cities. In this course you ll combine an intensive German course in the mornings with an extracurricular and sports program offering lots of variety. The course takes place at the modern conference center of the Heidelberg University of Applied Sciences. You ll have full access to the fitness and sports facilities free of charge. The course fee includes single-room accommodation with breakfast. The very well-appointed rooms are equipped with shower/wc, television and a telephone. Enrollment for this course is handled through the Goethe-Institut Mannheim-Heidelberg. The Goethe-Institut Mannheim provides preparatory courses for the DSH at the University of Mannheim and conducts the examination jointly with the university. The examination is recognized by other universities. First you will have to provide proof of German language skills. The TestDaf examination is recognized by all colleges and universities in Germany. In our training course you will receive instruction from specialized teachers as well as individual advice and support. You ll become familiar with the TestDaF exam, practice the various question types in all sections of the exam and improve your language skills. Language course with 600 UI Orientation course with 60 UI (A1.1) (A1.2) (A2.1) (A2.2) (B1.1) (B1.2) German for the working world and everyday life twelve weeks UI (4 UI per week) class size: 8 14 participants 495 Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 8:00 p.m. Do you live and work in Germany? Do you need a knowledge of German for your work or everyday life? You ll be learning German in an international group and speaking German right from the very first lesson. The interest level is kept high with a wide variety of teaching methods and types of exercises. We will familiarize you with modern spoken and written German and will focus in particular on your ability to speak. If you already speak German, you can systematically develop your skills in our special courses. In the language course you will learn and practice how to express yourself in important areas of everyday life in Germany. In the orientation course that follows, you will learn about German culture, politics, history and the legal system as well as values and customs that are important in German life. After completing the DTZ language test at level B1 and the orientation course test, you will receive the Integration Course Certificate

8 SPECIAL COURSES FOR PROFESSIONALS SPECIAL COURSES FOR PROFESSIONALS GERMAN COMMUNICATION TRAINING FOR DOCTORS on request Our communication training is designed for doctors and medical professionals. This course is suitable for you if you have been working for some time in Germany or are about to begin a residency to train as a specialist at a German hospital. The course will enhance your communication and intercultural skills for the clinical working environment. You will learn new medical and pharmaceutical vocabulary terms, German colloquial expressions for diseases and organs, various forms of clinical documentation, and the correct style for writing physician s reports. We practice patient conversations with you, for example, in taking down medical histories and examination situations. Additional topics are the German healthcare system, hospital organizations, introducing patients, diagnostic equipment, case presentations, preparation and presentation of expert lectures, and preparing a job application.
