First week: 8:30 a.m. 12:00 noon; second week: 8:30 a.m. 12:45 The Heidelberg Summer Course will sweep you away to one of Germany s most beautiful cities. In this course you ll combine an intensive German course in the mornings with an extracurricular and sports program offering lots of variety. The course takes place at the modern conference center of the Heidelberg University of Applied Sciences. You ll have full access to the fitness and sports facilities free of charge. The course fee includes single-room accommodation with breakfast. The very well-appointed rooms are equipped with shower/wc, television and a telephone. The Goethe-Institut Mannheim provides preparatory courses for the DSH at the University of Mannheim and conducts the examination jointly with the university. The examination is recognized by other universities. This course is suitable for you if you have been working for some time in Germany or are about to begin a residency to train as a specialist at a German hospital. The course will enhance your communication and intercultural skills for the clinical working environment. You will learn new medical and pharmaceutical vocabulary terms, German colloquial expressions for diseases and organs, various forms of clinical documentation, and the correct style for writing physician s reports. We practice patient conversations with you, for example, in taking down medical histories and examination situations.
