1 Making a Game Board from 1 Inch Hexagon Paper You can make a game board for the Medieval Wargame by cutting up the Hex paper and piecing it together to make a larger board to make as big of a board as you would like. If you can, use card stock to copy the hex paper. It makes a much sturdier board. You will need a straight edge of some kind like a ruler or yardstick. A hard surface to cut on is important. I use a scrap piece of plywood but a thick piece of cardboard would work also. Anything to protect the work table will do. You will need something sharp to cut with like an exacto knife, a utility knife or a good pair of scissors. You will need clear scotch tape. Clear packing tape will be needed if you are going to laminate the board. If you are using scissors to cut the paper you will need a sharp pencil to draw lines with. If you are a kid you will need an adult's permission and some help to cut the paper. tools you will need Once you have the tools, print out two or more sheets of hex paper and line them up next to each other to see how the hexes will match up.

2 Now that you have the sheets lined up you need to cut off the border of the paper so the hexes will be able to touch the matching hexes on the other sheet. You will need the straight edge and knife to make the cuts. If you are using scissors I will deal with that later. First cut off the border on the left piece of paper. Then cut off the border on the right piece of paper right where the hexes begin. If you are using the straight edge cutting method. Be sure about where you place your fingers on the straight edge. I have nicked myself with a knife doing cutting this way so pay attention. Also you have to put a fair amount of pressure on the straight edge to make sure it doesn't move or you will not get a straight cut.

3 The two pieces of hex paper should match up now. Take your scotch tape and tape the two pieces together at the top and bottom. Now flip it over and tape all along the back where the two pieces come together.

4 Now you need to trim the top and bottom edges.

5 Here is a three piece board. If you want to laminate your board you have two possibilities. If you can locate a laminating machine you can laminate it with that. Most office supply stores have a laminating service which should do a great job. I don't know how big of a board they could laminate but I am sure there is some limit to size. Another method is for the do it your self types is to use clear packing tape. You apply strips of packing tape to the board, overlapping each other slightly till the board is covered. This can be quite tricky so you might want to practice on a spare piece of paper. Make sure the board is clean. Dog hair and other tiny bits will try to jump onto the board just as you are applying the tape. Also the tape has a bad habit of accidentally touching the paper at the wrong place and time and then wrinkling. Despite the frustrations this method works quite well. If you want to draw on the board with dry erase markers you need to make sure that each piece of tape overlaps the previous one or marker will get between the cracks and permanently stain the paper. Being able to draw on the board is worth while however. You can draw terrain like swamps and rivers and be able to change them the next game. When you are finished with a game be sure to erase the board because the colors do start to become permanent. Just use a damp paper towel to erase it. 6 Here is a finished small board made out of three pieces of hex paper. This won't accommodate many figures so I would make it at least twice this size for a regular game. One last thing is to show how to use scissors instead of a knife. Most of the steps are the same except you need to draw lines on the paper using the straight edge to guide you when you make the scissor cuts. Then you can make accurate cuts with your scissors. Cutting with scissors is generally less accurate then using a knife but it is safer.
