3 Audience This document is intended for the SIP Trunk Customer s technical staff and Value Added Reseller (VAR) having installation and operational responsibilities Introduction This Application Note describes the configuration steps for Bell Canada SIP Trunking with ShoreTel Connect ONSITE System via Ingate SIParator/Firewall Bell Canada Bell SIP Trunking provides a gateway to the public switched telephone network through our IP network, allowing voice calls to run over a single data backbone through our core network. Bell SIP Trunking is offered over Canada s largest and most advanced MPLS network, with 70% more points of presence than the nearest competitor and our Ethernet service leveraging the industry-leading Bell fiber optic network. 5 Features SIP Authentication Method This test used a Static IP Authentication method between the ShoreTel Connect Onsite PBX. SIP Authentication is required and provisioned on the Ingate. SIP Registration is not required for Bell Canada SIP Trunks. 6 Caveats and Limitations Silent Monitor/Barge-in may not work after Whisper Page due to ShoreTel defect ENG ShoreTel uses Remote Codec Honoring and will respond with same SDP for the Incoming Calls. For Outbound Calls, ShoreTel uses Codec priority as defined on the Sites Page of the ShoreTel Director. Outbound calls from ShoreTel Connect Client failed when utilizing ST-100DA as phone and trunk switch For inbound fax, if the initial codec selected as G729, the fax will fail as neither party tries to renegotiate the fax codec to G711 pass-through after the fax tone. Need to limit codec to G711 only in Ingate SIParator/Firewall as only limiting the G711 codec in ShoreTel does not work. NOTE: There may be other feature limitations when using SIP Trunks. 7 Configuration Configuration Steps In this section an overview is presented of the steps that are required to configure the ShoreTel Connect ONSITE IP-PBX and Ingate SIParator for SIP Trunking to Bell Canada. 8 ShoreTel - Create Custom Codec Lists and Sites Create Codec Lists 1. Navigate to Features > Call Control > Codec Lists 2. Click NEW 3. Set Description: Bell Canada is used for this example 4. 9 Create Sites 1. Navigate to System > Sites 2. Set Name: Headquarters 3. Set Local Area Code: 613 is used in this test 4. Set Admission Control Bandwidth: Set Intra-Site Calls: Newly created Codec List, Bell Canada, was selected from the drop down menu as an example. This selection contains only G711 codecs. 6. Set Inter-Site Calls: Codec List, Bell Canada, is selected from the drop down menu 7. Set Fax and Modem Calls: Default Codec List, Fax Codecs Low Bandwidth Passthrough, is selected from the drop down menu 8. Leave all other fields as default 9. Click SAVE Figure 4: Sites ShoreTel. 10 ShoreTel - SIP Trunk Configuration This section describes the ShoreTel configuration necessary to support connectivity to Bell Canada SIP Trunking service Create SIP Trunk Profiles SIP Profile is critical for SIP Trunking deployment. The Default ITSP SIP Profile is used for this test. 1. Navigate to Trunks > SIP Profiles 2. Check Default ITSP under NAME Figure 5: SIP Trunk Profiles ShoreTel. 11 Add Trunk Group 1. Navigate to Trunks > Trunk Groups > Trunk Groups 2. Select the GENERAL tab 3. Set Name: Bell Canada 4. Set Trunk Type: SIP 5. 14 Create Individual Trunks 1. Navigate to Trunks > Trunks 2. Click NEW 3. Set Site: Headquarters 4. Set Trunk Group: Bell Canada (SIP) is selected from the drop down menu 5. Set Name: Bell_Canada is used in this setup 6. Set Switch: Lab110-vTS1 is selected from the drop down menu 7. Set IP Address or FQDN: Enter the LAN IP Address of Ingate SIParator. Please contact your Bell Canada or ShoreTel Business Representative for more information regarding your deployment. 8. Set Number of Trunks: 4 is given in this setup 9. 21 Ingate Apply and Edit SIP Trunking Configuration via Web GUI 1. After the configuration is uploaded via the SUT TG, login to Ingate SIParator/Firewall via web GUI 2. 25 10. Make sure Relay media for remote users is set to NO. If it is set to YES, one way audio will occur when the ShoreTel phone transfers the incoming call to another PSTN user while utilizing ShoreGear 90. Figure 23: SIP Trunks Cont. ShoreTel. 28 5. Navigate to SIP Services > Sessions and Media a. Under Session Configuration, set Session Timer: 900 seconds is given for this test Figure 26: Sessions & Media b. Under Requests, set Default timeout for INVITE requests: 300 seconds is given for this test. 29 Ingate responds to SIP OPTION by default. In order to pass the SIP OPTION from ShoreTel to Bell Canada, complete the following configuration: 6. Navigate to SIP Traffic > Dial Plan 7. Under the Matching Request-URI section, click Add new rows 8. Set Name: OPT-BC is given in this setup 9. Set Tail: nothing is selected from drop down 10. 30 11. Under the Forward To section, click Add new rows 12. Set Name: BC OPT is given in this setup 13. Set Replacement Domain: xxxxxx.bell.ca is given here 14. Set Port: 5060 which is SIP Port used in this setup 15. Set Transport: UDP is given for this test 16. Under the Dial Plan section, click Add new rows 17. Set From Header: Select ShoreTel ShoreGear from drop down 18. Set Request-URI: Select newly configured Matching Request-URI OPT-BC from drop down 19. Set Action: Select Forward from the drop down 20.
