3 3 Background Capital Express Assurance Limited was incorporated in 2000 when it took over the life assurance arm of Perpetual Assurance Company Limited, which was then a Composite insurance company. To strengthen the company s capacity even further, Capital Express Assurance acquired the life arm of thirteen insurance companies during the last recapitalization exercise in the insurance industry in The Life portfolios were from the following companies: Linkage Assurance Plc, NEM Insurance Plc, Central Insurance Company Limited, First Chartered Insurance Company Limited, United Trust Insurance Company Limited, GTI Insurance Company Limited, Sovereign Trust Insurance Company Limited, and Oasis Insurance Company Limited. Others include Hallmark Insurance Company Limited, Regency Life Assurance Company Limited, NGI Insurance

The company is a specialist life assurance company with operations in major parts of the country, the company has an authorized capital of N7.5b, paid-up share capital of N2Billion, and asset base in excess of N5Billion. The company currently has a robust clientele cutting across various sectors amongst which are Government Agencies and Parastatal, Banking and Investment, Multi-nationals, Military and Para-military, Clubs and Association, Manufacturing, Finance and Regulatory Bodies, Aviation, Pharmaceuticals, Educational Institutions, Hospitality industry, various other corporate organizations in Nigeria, as well as numerous individuals. 4

ANTHONY ALETOR (B.Sc, MBA, ACII, AMNIM, ACIB) Vice Chairman Mr. Anthony Aletor is the Vice Chairman Capital Express Group comprising of Capital Express Assurance Limited, Capital Express Securities Limited and CAPEX Medicare Limited. He is an insurance administrator of high repute and integrity, who has carved a niche for himself through his hard work, dedication and total adherence to professional standards. A native of Igueben town in Edo state, his education spans St. Patrick s Catholic School, Bacita in Kwara State; Lagelu Grammar School, Ibadan; Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo and University of Lagos, where he acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Insurance in He equally obtained an MBA from the prestigious University of Ibadan. 25

26 People With A Passion For Life He began his working career with the mandatory National Youth Service at Tonero Douglas & Company from where he moved to Sentinel Assurance Company Limited as Head of Marketing Unit. Thereafter, he moved to Crusader Insurance Plc, where he served excellently within the marketing department. As a result of his outstanding performance he rose to the position of branch manager and then regional manager in two years. From there, Mr. Aletor became Managing Director of UTIB Insurance Brokers Limited in the year 1991, and later he became the Managing Director of Capital Express Insurance Company Limited in the year During the insurance consolidation era under his leadership, Capital Express Insurance acquired thirteen life insurance portfolios of other insurance companies and a merger with Regency Insurance life 26

This further culminated in a change of company name to Capital Express Assurance Limited. An astute insurance practitioner and investment analyst, he is also an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, the Chartered Insurance Institute (London), the Association of Pensions Fund Managers and he has written various research works in the financial field. Mr. Aletor also sits on the board of various notable companies including Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc where he holds the position of vice- chairman. 27

ADEBOLA ODUKALE (B.Sc, MBA, AIIN) Managing Director/CEO She attended St. Paul s Anglican Primary School, Lagos, 1978 where she obtained her first school leaving certificate. She proceeded to Our Lady of Apostles, Yaba, Lagos in 1978 where she completed her West Africa School Certificate in She attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife between , where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. She, also bagged an MBA in December, 2004 and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria in August She started her work career with Nigerian Life and Pension Consultant in 1991 where she rose to the position of Senior Manager, Production Department. In March 2001, She joined Capital Express Assurance Limited as 28

She was promoted to the position of Senior Manager in 2003 and subsequently got promoted to Controller, Life Operations Department in In 2006, she was promoted to Assistant General Manager and then to Deputy General Manager. She is a dedicated professional who has attended several courses both locally and internationally. She has a vast experience in Group Life Assurance and welfare schemes. Adebola as a result of her hard work and performance was promoted to Executive Director s then later Managing Director 29

30 People With A Passion For Life MR. FESTUS IDOWU OLABIYI (B.Sc, Msc) General Manager Operation Mr. F. I. Olabiyi holds B.Sc (Hons) and M.Sc both in Mathematics from the University of Lagos. He proceeded to Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh U.K as European Union Fellowship Scholar in 1989 for his post graduate programme in Actuarial Science. In 2004, he was in Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University for the Senior Management Programme. Mr. Olabiyi also attended various technical and management courses both in Nigeria and abroad including Enterprise Risk Management Course, MunicRe, Germany, Business Continuity Management course in the U.K and Dubai among others. He was a lecturer at Univerisity of Lagos and Olabisi Onabanyo (formerly Ogun State) University, Ago - Iwoye 30

He worked virtually in all strategic technical department of the organization and rose to become a management staff before joining AIICO Insurance Plc in 2006 as Deputy General Manager Life Operations. 2008, he became General Manager/Chief Operating Officer Life Business/Retail Marketing. Mr. Olabiyi is an accomplished insurance practitioner with a wealth of experience. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria and also a Fellow Association of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers of Nigeria. He is currently the General Manager Operations at Capital Express Assurance Company Limited. 31

He had his secondary education at Federal Government College, Ilorin, Kwara State between where he successfully completed his O-level and A-level programmes. Thereafter, he proceeded to University of Lagos where he bagged a degree in Actuarial Science in He later proceeded for his Masters Degree in Banking and Finance in the same University. Mr. Aboaba s career life started at Assurance Bank Nigeria Limited in 1986, where he worked in various capacities between 1986 and In 2003, he joined Gateway Bank Plc as Deputy Manager (Pensions). Prior to joining Capital Express Assurance Limited, he worked with Crusader(Nigeria) Plc as Group Head, Budget & Performance Management from In 2012, he joined Capital Express Assurance Ltd as Head, Management Services where he is charged with the responsibilities of overseeing Finance & Account department as well as Human Capital and Administrative department of the organisation. He attended Abeokuta Grammar School between 1983 and Thereafter, he proceeded to Ogun State University where he bagged a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology in He proceeded to the University of Lagos where he obtained an Advance Diploma in Business Administration in 1998 after which he took MBA (Marketing) in Lagos State University in He is also a Chartered Insurer as awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria. His career began as a Sales Executive with Client Support Service Limited in In 2000, he moved to Standard Trust Assurance Company as Assistant Marketing Manager, a position he held until From 2004 to 2006, he worked as Marketing Manager at Capital Express General. 35

He attended Government College, Surulere, Lagos and Auchi Polytechnic before he proceeded to Delta State University, Abraka, where he bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication. He also obtained a Masters degree in Marketing from the Lagos State University in His career life started during his national service where he worked as Information Officer with Abia State Ministry of Information, Umuahia. She is a member of the Nigeria Bar Association and has attended many seminars in law, business and leadership courses. Mrs. I.J Sulucainan after her academic pursuit started her working career with J.O. Irukwu & Co, a Firm of Solicitors and from there she moved to African Development Insurance Company where she worked in various capacities for over five years. 41 People With A Passion For Life DUPE KILLA-KAFIDIPE (B.SC., SAP) Head, Corporate Services & Strategy Dupe has over seven years executive management experience including over a decade's worth of cross-sector skills spanning areas of Strategy formulation, Process Reengineering, Change Management, Corporate Governance, Project Management, Human Capital Development, and Sourcing/Procurement. Dupe s educational background is a BSc in Economics, an MSc in Operations and Supply Chain Management, Project Management and some Accounting. She is also a certified in SAP Systems. 41

Starting her career at United Bank for Africa, where she contributed to the implementation of new operational policies and controls and technology, Dupe moved to NNB where she worked in Treasury Operations, Finance Operations from where she was appointed to set up the Customer Focus Group. She led the Business Development team in private UK-based Company after a stint at the Transport for London Operations Group where she acted in various capacities across Projects Support and the Fares and Ticketing Directorates. Dupe currently manages Strategy and Corporate Services for Capital Express Nigeria Limited, bringing to bear excellent strategic and operations best practices. 42
