2 Less time for waxing is more time for skiing Optiwax is a Finnish glide wax for alpine and cross-country skiing. It is developed by award-winning company lead by Matti Järvinen. The enthusiastic and long-span efforts strive to deliver more pleasure for skiing by making the ski preparation as easy as possible. Besides ski waxes our nano technology is also used in waxless cross-country skis under the brand names Nanogrip and Optigrip which also won the biggest innovation award in Finland in Our goal is to make preparing skis as easy as possible. After several years of testing we can bring the Optiwax collection of ski waxes to the market. Optiwax has a broad product line for both beginners and professionals. Optiwax glide tapes are the easiest choice for beginners, but thanks to their excellent glide features and extremely good resistance they are also widely used by racing athletes. Fluor powders, blocks and hard waxes are categorized by numbers from one to three to make the right choice as simple as possible. The Optiwax Nanoski products help Nanogrip and Optigrip ski owners take care of their ski equipment. 3 Products for Nanogrip and Optigrip -skis Gripcare Optiwax Gripcare is a new product for Optigrip and Nanogrip skis. Behind this innovation is the same person who developed the nano technology for those skis, Matti Järvinen. The waxes and skis are built upon the same technology to ensure their perfect compatibility. Optiwax Gripcare makes your Optigrip and Nanogrip skis work even better. It enhances their glide and grip properties, cuts the time needed to reach the complete functionality and prevent icing. Gripcare fluid can easily be spread on the ski with a sponge. It makes skiing a real pleasure and is an essential choice for the Optigrip or Nanogrip ski owner. Volume 60 ml Gripcleaner Optiwax Gripcleaner is created for Nanogrip and Optigrip skis. The cleaner removes effectively all kind of dirt that affects nanoskis glide and grip properties. Using the Optiwax Gripcleaner brings back the grip and glide the ski used to have without damaging the ski. Use the Optiwax Gripcleaner every time you notice the ski properties have decreased due to dirty snow. It is also recommended to use the Optiwax Gripcare after a Gripcleaner treatment. Volume 100ml How The Function do the Nanogrip of Nanogrip - and Optigrip -skies skis work? Nanoski is the first waxless ski which is not based on mechanical grip. The secret of simultaneous glide and grip lies in the control of rest and glide friction in different conditions. The functionality is a result of years of research and development including intense testing. In order to get grip the ski uses water layer between snow and ski surface. At rest position the surface will break the shape of water molecules, which creates very high friction and the ski will get the grip. In the glide phase the surface has characteristics that will decrease glide friction. Nanogrip and Optigrip skis work in every condition, but the function is optimal when the water layer between snow and surface is substantial. 4 5
4 Tips for Optigrip and Nanogrip owners from the developer Waxless nanoski is ready for skiing straight from the shop, but in the beginning especially the glide properties are not yet optimal. The glide and grip properties will increase after short skiing. During this introduction period snow crystals will grind away extra surface. The nano particles get better in touch with snow and water molecules which will increase both glide and grip of the ski. The skiing distance needed to reach the optimal performance depends on snow conditions. In rough, old snow ski will grind much faster than in new dry snow. Optiwax Gripcare will shorten this test skiing period by increasing glide and grip of ski and preventing icing in problematic conditions. Optiwax gripcare is recommended to be used in problematic conditions against icing and when you need more glide on your ski. Another helpful tool, the Optiwax Gripcleaner should be used when the ski is no longer functioning optimally due to dirt. Gripcleaner cleans the surfaces effectively and brings back the skis good properties. After a Gripcleaner Treatment the Optiwax Gripcare is recommended. With correct care Nanogrip and Optigrip skis will keep on delivering real pleasure and they will even get better thanks to the grinding by snow crystals. For more information please check out: 6 7
5 Glide tapes The perfect pleasure of skiing can only be reached with an excellent glide. When the glide wax is long-lasting, fast and easy to use, you can get the best out of skiing every time. The Optiwax glide tapes are the number one choice especially for beginners. Tape waxing can be done without special waxing equipment and it will offer almost racing level glide for up to 200 kilometer. The glide tapes are also widely used by ski racers the good durability has brought many good results in long ski marathon races. The glide tape wide is the perfect choice for ski holidays when one waxing offers good glide for many days. Also world-class athletes appreciate the extreme durability and ease-of-use of Optiwax glide tapes. The nordic combined World Cup winner Anssi Koivuranta uses the glide tape even on his ski jump skis in order to make more training jumps with less waxing. Glide tape1, Glide tape1 wide C Glide tape 1 is made for high humidity conditions. It contains fluorocarbon, which increases glide properties in wet and dirty snow. Glide tape 1 is the perfect choice as a universal glide. Glide tape1, width 60mm x length 7,5m Glide tape1 Wide, width 120mm x length 7,5m Glide tape2, Glide tape2 Wide C Glide tape 2 is the choice for cold and dry conditions. The special Optiwax production process makes Glide tape 2 extreme durable and hard. Glide tape2, width 60mm x length 7,5m Glide tape2 Wide, width 120mm x length 7,5m Instructions Attach tip or tail of the ski to the glide tape package and pull out the glide tape over the glide area of ski. Heat the iron till C. You do not need a special waxing iron. Glide the iron slowly on the glide tape so that the wax will warm and attach in the ski glide surface. After ironing pull the glide tape away and brush the ski. The ski is ready for a ride. Waxtip Glide tape used together with Optiwax Fluor block is a good way to obtain an extremely durable race waxing. Rub a thin layer of Fluor block on the ski and pull the glide tape over it. Iron the glide tape and Fluor block together and brush the ski. Rub again a thin layer of Fluor block, then iron Fluor block by using used glide tape. After letting the ski cool a little and brushing it you are ready for the start line. 8 9
6 Fluor powders Optiwax Fluor powder products are specially made for race skiing. These waxes are a combination of awarded technology, knowledge and experience. This combination has resulted in fast, durable and wide use-range powder waxes for racers who only want the best. Together with glide tape Fluor blocks retain glide extremely long. That is why Fluor blocks have been popular among long distance racers. Optiwax Fluor blocks are a fast and easy way to create world cup level glide. Fluor block C The Optiwax Fluor block 1 is the best choice on new snow around zero degrees. This wax has been the number one choice for the Estonian Nordic Combined team. When moving in fast speeds the Fluor block 1 is extremely good. Net weight: 20g Fluor block C The Optiwax Fluor block 2 is a wide-range block for old and artificial snow. This wax is a good choice for junior or marathon racer.
