CASHIN S FIFTH CLASS 21ST DECEMBER 2012 Our Christmas Play We did a christmas play for the Christmas Variety Concert and it s called One Too Many. Everyone in my class was so happy to take part in the concert. One Too Many is about Santa who drinks too many eggnogs and coughs and falls down. Jack Frost comes in and takes Santa s crystal heart and Santa didn t look like Santa at all. There are ten elves, a little girl and a bartender. The elves all fall down and say the wrong words. The little girl comes in and sees Santa on the ground and thinks he is dead. The bartender gives Santa lots of eggnog. We have six children that are narrators. The little girl saves Christmas and all the little boys and girls all get their presents after all. We hope you enjoyed our play. Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year. Tania Staunton Sheridan, Ms. Lunny, 3rd Class My Kickboxing Grading Hi, my name is Ben. I go to a kickboxing class in the hall every Tuesday and Thursday from I only started kickboxing four months ago. My club is called Tallaght Martial Arts or T.M.A. for short. I had my grading last Saturday. I had to do kicks and punches and hit the pads. I passed and I got my first belt, the yellow tip. My next grading will be in six months. I better start training! By Ben Maher Johnston, 5th Class, Miss Cashin Katie Taylor Yesterday my mam and boxing coach brought myself and my little sister to a photo shoot with Katie Taylor in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre. Katie Taylor did a few excercises with boxing pads with my sister Tiffany and I. I got her autograph and so did my little sister. We were on the news and we will be in all the papers. I will be boxing on the same show as Katie Taylor. How lucky am I! Chantelle Spenser, 5th Class, Miss Murray

2 Skype My class was picked from the 5th classes to sing songs for for a school in Denmark as part of the Commenius Project. We skyped them at 10am on the 18th of December. We sang Rocking Around The Christmas Tree and Merry Christmas Everyone. Kudzai introduced us to them.they sang a Danish Christmas song and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer in Danish. A girl introduced us to their class and she learned a story called The Bad Elf in English, which probably was a challenge for her. Ms. Murrayʼs class came into our class to watch. We all had great fun. It worked great but it wouldnʼt have happened without the help of Mr. Durken. I would like to thank Mr. Durkin a whole lot for the massive effort he put into our skype session with Denmark. A towel Glee Club Glee is a club that takes place after school every Tuesday with Miss Gargan and Miss Oʼ Driscoll. In Glee Club you do dancing and singing. This year before the Christmas Holidays we did a Christmas Concert. We sang and danced to three songs, Wings, Snow Is Falling and One Directions song Live While Weʼre Young. I really like these songs. My friends told me that I was the loudest in the Christmas Concert! After our performance there was a loud clap. When we were finished we went back to our classroom. We had something to eat and drink. At 9.30 we went home. At home there was lots of excitement over my performance. I really want every boy and girl go and try Glee Club, itʼs brilliant! 3 Dundrum on Ice Last Wednesday I went to Dundrum on Ice. It was so much fun. I go to a club in City Wise Education Centre and that was our Christmas trip. Dundrum Ice rink is really fun. It has penguins (not real penguins!) to help younger kids get around.you can get hats and teddyʼs there too. Music plays while you are skating around.i LOVE DUNDRUM ON ICE!! My School in Poland Hi my name is Natalia. I come from Poland. When I was younger I went to school in Sw. Kasciurzko in Poland. There was three levels in my school. School is not like here in Ireland it is really different over in Poland. There are only three levels of high school. There was a small library and a school shop, not like our shop in St Marks. It had sweets, doughnuts and lots lots more. We didnʼt have any uniforms, we came to school in our own clothes. We brought lunch to school but we could bring sweets everyday. We also had a nurse. She was on the second level. She brought us a special toothpaste when we needed to brush our teeth. We had a medium yard outside that we played in when it was sunnny. We did every subject with our teacher. In Poland we must learn German, English and Polish. By Natalia Glenc, 5th Class, Miss Cashin Taekwondo My name is Ted and I had an amazing weekend. In my Tackwon-do we went to the Kiltipper Inn for a Christmas Party and an Awards Ceremony. The award ceremony was great. Me and my sister Kim won a trophy each. My sister won Newcomer of the year. I won members member of the year. My trophy is huge, it is half the size of my sister. It was a fantastic weekend and I certainly enjoyed it. I brought the trophy to school on Monday to show to my teacher and class. They were thrilled for me. Ted Rena Room 16 Ms Walsh 4th class

5 Christmas Card Competition Winners Photo Photos from 2012 Skype Christmas Carols Between Ireland, Denmark, Finland and Italy St. Marks SNS as part of their Comenius Christmas Project skyped schools in Italy, Finland, Denmark and Ireland. They sang two carols and listened to songs from the other countries at Christmas time. The kids enjoyed the experience and learned a lot about the other countries.
