Since the breaker resets, unlike a fuse, no replacements are required. Various sizes, configurations and styles meet many application requirements. Three styles are available with 50 to 150 amp ratings: automatic reset, manual reset, and manual reset with a manual trip feature. The manual resets feature a unique reset mechanism for visual indication of a tripped condition. Plastic housing approved for engine compartment or marine bilge area applications. Typically used for auxiliary and accessory circuits on trucks, buses, recreational vehicles, marine and construction equipment. Single pole thermal type breakers are rated up to 30 volts DC maximum. Operating temperature of -25 F to 180 F. 1/4-28 studs and surface mount style have rubber boots for insulating the ends. 7 CIRCUIT BREAKERS CIRCUIT BREAKER SAE TYPE DEFINITIONS TYPE I - Automatic Reset Cycles or continuously resets until the fault is corrected. Type I circuit breakers are typically used to protect circuits which occasionally experience momentary overloads such as wiper motor and headlamp circuits where a self resetting device is preferred. TYPE II - Modified Reset Non-cycling, remains in open position while there is power to the circuit. Resets when ignition is turned off. Type II circuit breakers are typically used in applications where fuse replacement is objectionable, such as power window, seat and sunroof circuits. TYPE III - Manual Reset Manually resettable circuit breakers remain in the open position until a button, lever or other external reset device is manually depressed. Type III circuit breakers are typically used in applications where a manual reset is desired for safe diagnosis of a circuit fault.
