3 Polycom Eagle Eye Director: Version introduced support for the Polycom EagleEye Director camera. EagleEye Director is a high-end dual camera system that works in conjunction with some Polycom HDX systems to provide accurate close-up views of the person who is speaking while also capturing the room view. The EagleEye Director also provides smooth transitions between the close-up view of the person who is speaking and the room view. A blue LED on the base indicates that the camera has completed powering on. EagleEye Director can use EagleEye II cameras and EagleEye III cameras as tracking and room view cameras. The following combinations are supported: Two EagleEye II cameras Two EagleEye III cameras One EagleEye II camera and one EagleEye III camera To use the Polycom EagleEye Director camera, systems must be running software version or later. For information about installing the camera software, refer to Installing Software and Options for Polycom HDX Systems and Accessories. For information about configuring the camera, refer to the Administrator s Guide for Polycom HDX Systems. Positioning the Polycom Eagle Eye Director The Polycom EagleEye Director is a new HD camera that works with Polycom HDX 9000 series, Polycom HDX 8000 series, Polycom HDX 7000 series and Polycom HDX 6000 series systems. Follow these guidelines when you use the Polycom EagleEye Director with your HDX system: Avoid setting the Polycom EagleEye Director in the corner of a room. The Polycom EagleEye Director should be at least 12 inches away from all of the walls. Make sure the Polycom EagleEye Director is on a level surface or mounting bracket. Because the Polycom EagleEye Director auto-tracking feature covers less than 30 degrees downwards and 9 degrees upwards in terms of tilt angle, you must follow these requirements: The following illustrations show the recommended position of the Polycom EagleEye Director. 4 Recommended height is feet ( meters). Typically the EED will not let you calibrate it when the camera is lower than the person speaking. Ensure that people are sitting within the viewing range of between 3 and 22 feet from the camera. Set the Polycom EagleEye Director on top of a monitor. Ideally, place the camera between 5.5 and 7 feet from the ground. Ensure that people are sitting between 3 and 20 feet from the camera. 6 HDX Remote Control Option Button: The EE Director will be automatically enabled when the HDX connects to a far-end. You can temporarily disable/enable the EE Director on the HDX via the HDX remote control by selecting the Option button and selecting Stop Tracking, or Start Tracking however, anytime you mute/un-mute the Eagle Eye Director will be enabled again. HDX and Eagle Eye Director Versions and Camera Detection: The HDX system should be running version or higher and the EE director should be at v or higher. 7 Other Polycom Products Polycom Touch Control Touch Control adds a level of improved usability for users. Even though users may not use the camera controls from Touch Control, the ease-of-use of dialing and sharing content makes the PTC a great add-on for your customer. A single one-touch button appears on the screen to turn EagleEye Director on & off. Polycom SoundStructure Sound Structure may be a better solution for rooms where participants are well over 25 feet from the EagleEye Director or additional audio integration is necessary SoundStructure can use boundary microphones that will trigger cameras to P/T/Z to a preset camera location Polycom Eagle Eye Camera Shelf Camera shelf supports the EagleEye HD, Eagle Eye II, III, EagleEye View, EagleEye QDX, Eagle Eye Director Cameras. 8 Polycom Eagle Eye Director Tech Tips: The EagleEye Director uses a dual camera system. While one camera tracks the person who is speaking, the other camera captures the room view. The EagleEye Director shows the room view while the camera moves from one speaker to another. When the tracking camera locates a person who is speaking, the EagleEye Director camera switches to a close-up of that person. By providing automatic and intelligent views in various speaking scenarios during a conference, the EagleEye Director delivers a user experience similar to a newscast video production Room Lighting: Good conference room lighting is important for face finding so try to avoid shadows, standing in front of windows or low lit rooms. Calibration: You can calibrate the Eagle Eye Director with the HDX remote or via HDX Web User Interface while in the room. Far End Camera Control: The far-end cannot control the Eagle Eye Director camera while Voice Tracking is enabled. This is working as designed. Camera Presets: Camera presets can only be used when the Eagle Eye Director is disabled. Whiteboard in the room: While the Eagle Eye Director will track you to a whiteboard, it will switch to the room view when you have your back towards the Eagle Eye Director and it will track back to you once you turn around and start speaking again. Muting/Un-muting Audio: Muting the mics temporally disables the Eagle Eye Director during an active call. Muting/un-muting re-enables the EED even if it was temporarily disabled to begin with. Single Person in a large room: You can have the person sit closer to the Eagle Eye Director, change the room view or temporarily disable the EED for these types of calls. Disabling/Enabling the EE Director: The EE Director will be automatically enabled when the HDX connects to a far-end. You can temporarily disable/enable the EE Director on the HDX via the HDX remote control by selecting the Option button and selecting Stop Camera Tracking, or Start Camera Tracking however, anytime you mute/un-mute the Eagle Eye Director will be enabled again. Turning-Off the EE Director Tracking feature: You will need to go into the HDX Admin Settings Camera Configuration Camera Tracking Settings and set the Tracking Mode to OFF Reboot/Power Cycle: Don t forget that the Eagle Eye Director has its own power cable, so an HDX reboot/power cycle does not reboot the EED. 9 Troubleshooting the Polycom Eagle Eye Director This section presents a series of common problems and troubleshooting steps to resolve them. Detection Failure If the EagleEye Director is not detected, try one of the following solutions: Ensure all cables are tightly plugged in and attempt camera detection again. If the EagleEye Director is powering on or waking up from sleep, wait for a few seconds and then attempt to detect the camera again. Manually power off the EagleEye Director by unplugging the power supply of the EagleEye Director and unplugging the HDCI cable to HDX system. Power the EagleEye Director on again and attempt camera detection again. Calibration Failure Ensure that all of the seven EagleEye Director tracking microphones are working correctly. Calibration fails if any of the microphones do not work. To verify microphone functionality: 1 Do one of the following: From the local interface, go to System > Diagnostics > Video >Cameras > Camera Audio Meter. From the web interface, go to Diagnostics > Video > Cameras >Camera Audio Meter. 2 Speak aloud and verify that you can see dynamic signal indications for two vertical microphones and five horizontal microphones. If no signal indication appears for a specific microphone, manually power the EagleEye Director off and then power it back on. 3 Perform the calibration again. Voice Tracking Failure If the voice tracking function is not working, it might be because it is not activated. Framing the Speaker Inaccurately If the speaker is not framed accurately, try one of the following solutions: Ensure that the vertical bar of the EagleEye Director is vertical. Calibrate the camera again. Waking Up Failure If EagleEye Director does not wake up after the HDX system wakes up, try to detect the camera again. You might need to re-detect the camera twice. If re-detecting does not resolve the problem, power the EagleEye Director off and then power it on again.
