1 General The Vuyk Versatile Vessel (VVV) is developed by Vuyk Engineering Rotterda to anticipate on the future deand of the offshore arket. To serve the offshore industry, the vessel can be fitted with a wide range of equipent that is partly designed as odular systes. This reduces obilization tie and has the advantage for contractors to use this equipent flexible within the fleet. For ulti purpose use, the vessel has the capability to suberge and load floating deck equipent or cargo. This possibly reduces costs as obilization can be cobined with heavy transport projects. Functionalities The VVV is a dynaically positioned construction vessel suitable to perfor a wide variety of operations: Installation and construction for oil and gas industry Heavy lifting Subsea installation Pipe and reel lay operations Moonpool operations Installation and transport of wind turbines Float on / Float of operations of equipent (and cargo) Offshore support Heavy transport Optional: Bridge Installation Vuyk Engineering Rotterda B.V. Due to the versatile functions, the vessel can execute projects which norally require a cobination of several specialized ships. P.O. The arrangeent of the cranes also provides space for odular equipent and deck load to be positioned and operated between the cranes. Optionally the vessel can be fitted with a longboo, used for installation of bridges and civil constructions. x Heavy Lift Crane Lifting capacity Lifting height above water level Longboo Lifting capacity Lifting height above water level x Vuyk Engineering Rotterda B.V. 3 Modular Equipent The vessel can be fitted with following odular equipent: JLay equipent Reel lay equipent Trenching equipent The vessel is self supporting with respect to fitting and disounting the odular equipent. This can be done by lifting the equipent to deck, skidding/rolling onto the unobstructed deck, or suberging the vessel when using floating odules. Modular Accoodation The standard accoodation is suitable for 5 persons, including ship's crew. In ost cases this is not sufficient for working with odular equipent. To expand the accoodation capacity, the vessel can be fitted with a odular accoodation unit for persons. This unit is selffloating so it can be floated on the suberged vessel. Positioned directly aft of the forecastle, a large deck reains for fitting equipent and storage of pipes/product. Vuyk Engineering Rotterda B.V. P.O. Box, De Linie 7 9 AA Capelle aan den IJssel Phone +3 () 45 5 Fax +3 () Eail [email protected] Website This odule provides ore flexibility, as during transport axiu free deck area is available, while during installation work the accoodation capacity is increased significantly. VER project 8.
4 Arrangeent The vessel consists of a ono hull fitted with a large forecastle and buoyancy casings to generate the subersible functionality. On the aft buoyancy casings two heavy lift ast cranes are fitted. This location iniizes loss of deck space by the crane pedestals. The deckhouse is positioned on the forecastle deck where it provides a perfect overview on the large workdeck aft. Below deck the engine roo, thruster roos, forward pup roo and all required service spaces are located. The idship consists copletely of ballast and fuel tanks. For access two corridors fro forward to aft are arranged. Also a oonpool is fitted in the idship area as the otions of the vessel are lowest in this region. This location contributes to a higher workability through the oonpool. The oonpool can be closed at deck so an unobstructed deck is available for installation and transport projects. In the aftship the propulsion roo and aft pup roo are located in between the crane pedestals. The adjacent spaces below the buoyancy casings can be used for extra winch capacity for the ast cranes. Hull for Vuyk Engineering Rotterda B.V. In order to reduce the resistance of this relatively wide vessel, the idship coefficient is iniized by a sloped side. This has the advantage of a saller waterline at sailing draught and the axiu waterline breadth at lifting draught. The foreship is fitted with a bulbous bow to achieve lower resistance in free sailing conditions. The bow is designed with a Vshape with little flare, to iniize bow ipact. The aftship has a ild Vshaped botto which, in cobination with the sloped sides, provides good flow to the propellers. P.O. Box, De Linie 7 9 AA Capelle aan den IJssel Phone +3 () 45 5 Fax +3 () Eail [email protected] Website VER project 8.
5 Propulsion Dynaic Positioning The vessel is equipped with a sophisticated propulsion syste. This syste is balanced for the power requireent in free sailing conditions and during dynaic positioning. The syste consists of following propellers: Aft aziuth thrusters Fwd aziuth thrusters Fwd tunnel thruster 3 x x x 6 With the aft propellers in use, the vessel can reach a service speed of 4 knots. A class dynaic positioning syste is fitted on the vessel. The syste is designed for the following environental conditions with all propulsion equipent operating: Significant wave height : 3 Current speed : knot Wind speed : 6 Bft. DP capability plot (ax. sig. wave height) All thrusters operating FWD C thruster failure 8 7. z. 8 9 AFT PS thruster failure Power Generation A dieselelectric propulsion and power generation syste is favourable as the power deand varies in the different operating conditions. This syste iniizes fuel consuption while availability of power is preserved Machinery Main generator sets Auxiliary power 4x 43 x 5 Vuyk Engineering Rotterda B.V. A setup of four siilar generator sets is chosen. Depending on the operation three or four sets are in use. During dynaic positioning operations this configuration provides sufficient redundancy to ensure positioning of the vessel, in case of failure of one generator set. P.O. Box, De Linie 7 9 AA Capelle aan den IJssel Phone +3 () 45 5 Fax +3 () Eail [email protected] Website VER project 8.
6 Workability Construction vessels require superior seakeeping behaviour to achieve axiu workability. Therefore this vessel is fitted with large bilge keels and passive antiroll tanks in the hull. Depending on the operational area and type of work the workability of the vessel can be deterined. Depending on the loading condition, the antiroll tanks are adjusted for axiu effect. Figure below gives a workability plot for a Jlay operation in the Gulf of Mexico. The workability for 3 headings is shown by the coloured lines through the scatter table. Hs () WORKABILITY Condition Modular Jlay Equipent Liits Area 3 Gulf of Mexico Workability Pitch angle : N.A. deg Heading 8 deg : % Roll angle : N.A. deg Heading 5 deg : 97% Xacceleration :. /s Heading 9 deg : 8% Yacceleration :.5 /s Zacceleration :.5 /s Tz (sec) deg 5 deg 9 deg Optional Dynaic Positioning Class 3 To provide ore redundancy the DP syste can be upgraded to a class 3 syste. This can be achieved by dividing the engine and propulsion roos into watertight zones. The electrical syste ust be divided into fire zones to generate redundancy after flooding or fire in any copartent. This concept is developed as starting point for further specification on clients requireents. These will be incorporated in the basic design to follow. Vuyk Engineering Rotterda B.V. P.O.
