The Finance meeting details have not been determined. Money for the state meeting will be collected in September at chapter meeting and information will go out to the chapter soon. Local A special thank you was expressed to the Retreat Chairs and the committee for a wonderful retreat. Additional thanks given to Soror Lewis and the Executive Committee for leading in the absence of Soror Rew. The Executive Committee held its retreat July 28, Some clarification was shared about the report made at the National Convention. Charlotte was invited to host the 2017 National Convention but declined the offer. Chapters are NOT contacted directly. Rather cities convention bureaus are invited to submit a RFP from the National staff for consideration. In this case, Charlotte was invited, however, declined for the following reasons. Charlotte was not able to meet the criteria needed to accommodate the convention. We have July 12-19, 2017 and August 9-16, 2017 available. In order to accommodate the space below, all of the special events would have to be held at Time Warner Cable Arena located 3 blocks from the Charlotte Convention Center. Exhibit space of 105,000 square feet could only offer 80,000 and would require move out on Tuesday instead of Wednesday to be able to accommodate the Closing Banquet Closing Banquet for 11,000 to 15,000 people rounds we can do 10,000 people in Hall ABC and would have to do overflow in Crown Ballroom for another 2,400 people. Club Delta for 2,000 to 5,000 people and the hospitality suite for 2500 to 3500 people - would have not be able to accommodate at the Convention Center. Our (2) largest hotels
4 could host the max numbers of approximately 2,000 in the ballroom. Seven simultaneous lunches on Saturday or Sunday were needed and we can accommodate 5 of the 7 lunches but they would have to be on Saturday. The Farwest and Midwest luncheons would have to be off site. Max numbers for the Midwest luncheon at our largest hotel would be approximately 1,200. The Social Action Luncheon has a choice of Sun/Mon/Tues or Wed we would have to have this lunch on Sunday to accommodate. The Collegiate Luncheon has a choice of Sun/Mon/Tues or Wed we would have to have this lunch on Monday to accommodate. The Storage for 3,713 square feet we can offer 2,640 square feet workshops from Wed-Wed The only rooms that would be available from Wed- Wed are 201AB, 202AB, 204, 205, 206AB, 209AB, 210AB, 218AB, 219AB, 203B (approximately 10 rooms). It is recommended we move the May chapter meeting to Monday, May 12, The rationale is due to typical low attendance to this meeting and the meeting falls on Mother s Day weekend. It was recommended that we should follow up with the Regional Director to ensure awareness of this change. Motion: Desire Rew moved for May Sorority meeting to Monday, May 12, 2014 In Favor :15 Oppose 0 Motion Carries
