This source suggested that August and Julianna were married about 1849, but this date is suspicious because it would infer that the first 4 children were born before August and Julianna were married. No other authoritative source has yet been found by RLN that documents their marriage date, so RLN assumes it was prior to son John's documented birth year of Pittman, Esther (Witzke) (Personal communication), My grandmother referred to Johann Daniel Witzke simply as her uncle John and thought he was a Lutheran minister somewhere near St. Cloud, Minnesota. She did not know anything else about him or his family.
