6.4 Air purging with vacuum pump Air and moisture in the refrigerant system have undesirable effects as below: Pressure in the system rises. Operating current rises. Cooling or heating efficiency drops. Moisture in the refrigerant circuit may freeze and block capillary tubing. Water may lead to corrosion of parts in the refrigerant system. Therefore, the indoor units and the pipes between indoor and outdoor units must be leak tested and evacuated to remove gas and moisture from the system. Air purging with vacuum pump (Indoor unit) (Liquid side) (Outdoor unit) Two-way valve Close (Gas side) Manifold valve Compound meter Pressure gauge -76cmHg Lo Hi Three-way valve Close Handle Lo Charge hose Handle Hi Charge hose Vacuum pump adaptor Vacuum pump Procedure 1. Completely tighten the flare nuts of the indoor and outdoor units, connect the manifold valve charge. 2. Connect the charge hose connection to the vacuum pump. 3. Fully open the handle Lo of the manifold valve. 4. Operate the vacuum pump to evacuate. After starting evacuation, slightly loose the flare nut of the Lo valve on the gas pipe side and check the air is entering. (Operation noise of the vacuum pump changes and a compound meter indicates 0 stead of minutes) 5. After the evacuation is complete, fully close the handle Lo valve of the manifold valve and stop the 23
operation of the vacuum pump. Make evacuation for 15 minutes or more and check the compound meter indicates -76cmHg. 6. Turn the stem of the Hi valve about 45 counterclockwise for 6 or 7seconds after the gas coming out, then tighten the flare nut again. Make sure the pressure display in the pressure indicator is a little higher than the atmosphere pressure. 7. Remove the charge hose from the Lo pressure charge hose. 8. Fully open the Hi and Lo packed valve. 9. Securely tighten the cap of the packed valve. Gas leak check Soap water method Apply soap water or a liquid neutral detergent on the indoor unit connections or outdoor unit connections by a soft brush to check for leakage of the connecting points of the piping. If bubbles come out, the pipes have leakage. 6.5 Pumping down (Re-installation) Procedure 1. Confirm that both the 2-way and 3-way valves are set to the opened position. Remove the valve stem caps and confirm that the valve stems are in the opened position. Be sure to use a hexagonal wrench to operate the valve stems. 2. Operate the unit for 10 to 15 minutes. 3. Stop operation and wait for 3 minutes, then connect the charge set to the service port of the 3-way 24
valve. Connect the charge hose with the push pin to the gas service port. 5. Air purging of the charge hose. Open the low-pressure valve on the charge set slightly to purge air from the charge hose. 6. Set the 2-way valve to the close position. 7. Operate the air conditioner at the cooling cycle and stop it when the gauge indicates 0.1MPa. 8. Immediately set the 3-way valve to the closed position. Do this quickly so that the gauge ends up indicating 0.3 to 0.5Mpa. Disconnect the charge set, and amount the 2-way and 3-way valve s stem nuts and service port caps. Use a torque wrench to tighten the service port cap. Be sure to check for gas leakage. 6.6 Re-air purging (Re-installation) Procedure: 1. Confirm that both the 2-way and 3-way valves are set to the closed position. 2. Connect the charge set and a charging cylinder to the service port of the 3-way valve. Leave the valve on the charging cylinder closed. 25
3. Air purging. Open the valves on the charging cylinder and the charge set. Purge the air by loosening the flare nut on the 2-way valve approximately 45 for 3 seconds then closing it for 1 minute; repeat 3 times. After purging the air, use a torque wrench to tighten the flare nut to on the 2-way valve. 4. Check the gas leakage. Check the flare connections for gas leakage. 5. Discharge the refrigerant. Close the valve on the charging cylinder and discharge the refrigerant until the gauge indicates 0.3 to 0.5 Mpa. 6. Disconnect the charge set and the charging cylinder, and set the 2-way and 3-way valves to the open position. Be sure to use a hexagonal wrench to operate the valve stems. 7. Mount the valve stems nuts and the service port cap. Be sure to use a torque wrench to tighten the service port cap. Be sure to check the gas leakage. 6.7 Balance refrigerant of the 2-way, 3-way valves 26
Procedure: 1. Confirm that both the 2-way and 3-way valves are set to the open position. 2. Connect the charge set to the 3-way valve s service port. Leave the valve on the charge set closed. Connect the charge hose with the push pin to the service port. 3. Open the valves (Low side) on the charge set and discharge the refrigerant until the gauge indicates 0.05 to 0.1Mpa. If there is no air in the refrigeration cycle, it will not be necessary to apply an evacuation. Discharge the refrigeration gradually; if it is discharged too suddenly, the refrigeration oil will be discharged. 6.8 Evacuation Procedure: 1. Connect the vacuum pump to the charge set s centre hose. 2. Evacuation for approximately one hour. Confirm that the gauge needle has moved toward -0.1 Mpa (-76 cmhg) [vacuum of 4 mmhg or less]. 3. Close the valve (Low side) on the charge set, turn off the vacuum pump, and confirm that the gauge needle does not move (approximately 5 minutes after turning off the vacuum pump). 27
4. Disconnect the charge hose from the vacuum pump. 6.9 Gas charging Procedure: 1. Connect the charge hose to the charging cylinder. Connect the charge hose which you disconnected from the vacuum pump to the valve at the bottom of the cylinder. If the refrigerant is R410A, make the cylinder bottom up to ensure liquid charge. 2. Purge the air from the charge hose. Open the valve at the bottom of the cylinder and press the check valve on the charge set to purge the air (be careful of the liquid refrigerant). 3. Open the valves (Low side) on the charge set and charge the system with liquid refrigerant. 4. Immediately disconnect the charge hose from the 3-way valve s service port. Stopping partway will allow the refrigerant to be discharged. If the system has been charged with liquid refrigerant while operating the air conditioner, turn off the air conditioner before disconnecting the hose. 5. Mounted the valve stem caps and the service port Use torque wrench to tighten the service port cap. Be sure to check for gas leakage. 28

In auto mode, the machine will choose cooling, heating or fan-only mode according to the difference between T1 and Ts. T1-Ts T1-Ts>1 Running mode Cooling -1< T1-Ts 1 Fan-only T1-Ts -1 Heating Indoor fan will run in auto fan of the relevant mode. The louver operates the same as in relevant mode. If the machine switches mode between heating and cooling, the compressor will keep stopping for 15 minutes and then choose the mode according to T1-Ts again. If the setting temperature is modified, the machine will choose the running function again. 42
8.4.5 Dehumidify mode Indoor fan speed is fixed in breeze and can t be changed. The louver angle is the same as in cooling mode Compressor running rules Room over low temperature protection If room temperature is lower than 10, compressor will stop and not resume until room temperature over Evaporator anti-freezing protection, condenser high temperature protection and outdoor unit frequency limit are valid, and they are the same as that in cooling mode The outdoor fan operates same as in cooling mode Forced operation function Enter forced operation function: Pressing the touch button once, the machine will transfer into forced auto mode, if pressing the button once again, the machine will turn into forced cooling mode, the third pressing will stop the unit, and the forth pressing is the start of the cycle of forced auto mode, forced cooling mode and stop. Refer the following chart: In forced operation mode, all general protections and remote control are available Operation rules: Forced cooling mode: The compressor runs at F2 frequency and indoor fan runs as breeze. After running for 30 minutes. the 43
machine will turn to auto mode as 24 setting temperature. Forced auto mode: The action of forced auto mode is the same as normal auto mode with 24 setting temperature Timer function Timing range is 24 hours, and the minimum resolution is 15 minutes Timer on. After turning off, the machine will turn on automatically when reaching the setting time Timer off. After turning on, the machine will turn off automatically when reaching the setting time Timer on/off. After turning off, the machine will turn on automatically when reaching the setting on time, and then turn off automatically when reaching the setting off time Timer off/on. After turning on, the machine will turn off automatically when reaching the setting off time, and then turn on automatically when reaching the setting on time The setting time is relative time The tolerance of timer is 1 minute per hour Sleep function mode Operation time in sleep mode is 7 hours. After 7 hours the AC quits this mode and turns off Operation process in sleep mode is as follow: After pressing ECONOMIC or SLEEP button on controller, the machine will turn into sleep mode. When cooling, the setting temperature rises 1(be lower than 30) every one hour, 2 hours later the setting temperature stops rising and indoor fan is fixed as low speed. When heating, the setting temperature decreases 1(be higher than 17) every one hour, 2 hours later the setting temperature stops decreasing and indoor fan is fixed as low speed.(anti-cold wind function has the priority) Timer setting is available When user uses timer off function in sleep mode(or sleep function in timer off mode), if the timing is less than 7 hours, sleep function will be cancelled when reaching the setting time. If the timing is more than 7 hours, the machine will not stop until reaches the setting time in sleep mode. 44
8.4.9 Auto-Restart function The indoor unit is equipped with auto-restart function, which is carried out through an auto-restart module. In case of a sudden power failure, the module memorizes the setting conditions before the power failure. The unit will resume the previous operation setting (not including Swing function) automatically after 3 minutes when power returns. If the memorization condition is forced cooling mode, the unit will run in cooling mode for 30 minutes and turn to auto mode as 24 setting temp. If A/C is off before power off and A/C is required to start up now, the compressor will have 1 minutes delay when power on. Other conditions, the compressor will have 3 minutes delay when restarts Automatic panel function The automatic panel is forced to turn to the closing direction at an angle of 50 when the unit is getting through the power, and this action is not affected by any signal from remote controller When the unit is turned on, the panel is opened automatically at an angle of 50, then the horizontal louver will be opened When the unit is turned off, the panel is closed automatically at an angle of 50, then the horizontal louver will be closed If the panel needs moving when the horizontal louver is in action, the unit will stop the horizontal louver and then carry out the action of the panel. After ending the action of the panel, the horizontal louver will continue its action Ionizer (Clean Air) function Clean Air function is available only when the A/C is on, and it s controlled through remote controller After the A/C being turned on, the Clean Air function is switched on when the A/C receives FRESH CODE at first time, and ionizer is switched off when the A/C receives the CODE again. It s a circle After starting the Clean Air function, the ionizer can work only when the indoor fan motor is running. If the indoor fan motor is off, the ionizer also stops working, even though the Clean Air function is available Switching the running mode will not stop the ionizer. When turning off the A/C, the ionizer is 45
also turned off. 46
