12 Electrosurgical & Smoke Evac Products SMOKE EVACUATION SYSTEMS & PRODUCTS Crystal Vision Smoke Evacuation Machine ADVANTAGES FOR OPEN PROCEDURES Hands free smoke evacuation With Crystal Vision, you can choose to use our ExtendEVAC pencil with integral telescoping tip or a regular electrocautery pencil snapped into our convenient smoke evacuator sheath for complete elimination of smoke from the O.R. Both can be conveniently held in one hand by the surgeon, with the evacuator conveniently located for ease of use. ULPA filtration and sensors Crystal Vision s built-in sensors prevent smoke particles from infiltrating the operating room by alerting the operator when ULPA filter is full and stopping the machine automatically if not changed within a few minutes. Easy-to-read console The front panel of Crystal Vision illuminates automatically when room lights are lowered, with red light indicators for high flow and green for low flow. ESU Sensor The unit automatically activates when the pencil is activated and stops when the pencil is deactivated for efficient, quiet operation. ADVANTAGES FOR LASER PROCEDURES Meet OSHA Guidelines OSHA has stated that all surgical smoke produced by lasers should be properly filtered by a smoke evacuation system as close to the surgical site as possible. Laser Footswitch Sensor The footswitch sensor will automatically activate smoke evacuation once the laser is active. Additional Procedures Speculum tubing allows the evacuation of smoke for GYN and ENT removal of nodes, growths and genital warts. Our laser tubing has a male barb that fits perfectly over the smoke evacuation port on most speculums. Occlusion Light The Crystal Vision Machine will alert you for any obstructions within the speculum port or tubing during the procedure. 13 Make the Right Connection SMOKE EVACUATION SYSTEMS & PRODUCTS ADVANTAGES FOR LAPAROSCOPIC PROCEDURES Clinically superior Crystal Vision automatically removes CO2 gas from abdomen post-procedure reducing postoperative pain by reducing the CO2 trapped inside patient at the end of the procedure. Patient s body will absorb less CO2, producing better patient outcomes by reducing recovery time and medication required post-operatively. The laparoscopic smoke evacuation tubing set conveniently attaches directly to secondary trocar stopcock and is virtually invisible to the physician so it does not change current laparoscopic technique.. Constant monitoring of pneumoperitoneal pressure With Crystal Vision, the amount of internal pneumoperitoneal pressure is constantly assessed and automatically reduced when needed to lower potentially dangerous pressure levels. Shut-off is automatic when complete. During surgical procedures using laser or electrosurgical unit, the thermal destruction of tissue creates a smoke byproduct. Research studies have confirmed that this smoke plume can contain toxic gases and vapors such as benzene, hydrogen cyanide, and formaldehyde, bioaerosols, dead and live cellular material (including blood fragments), and viruses. At high concentrations, the smoke causes ocular and upper respiratory tract irritation in health care personnel, and creates visual problems for the surgeon. This plume contains chemical by-products, and research suggests that there is little difference between laser and electrosurgical plume. Any smoke plume or noxious fumes are irritating to the respiratory tract. The potential for bacterial and viral contamination from surgical smoke is undefined; however it is known that mutagenicity of the gaseous by-products do exist. A wall suction device with an in-line filter is sufficient in keeping the air clear of smoke, a single - or triple-filter smoke evacuation unit should be used according to the need demonstrated. 20 Electrosurgical & Smoke Evac Products ILLEGAL RESTRAINTS OF TRADE DeRoyal electrosurgical products are compatible with any electrosurgical unit on the market, but to be certain and/or to answer any questions the customer might have regarding compatibility, that customer should inquire with the original manufacturer of the electrosurgical unit being used at the customer s facility. Upon any inquiry, the customer may find that some suppliers require purchase of only their accessories as a condition of initial purchase. These suppliers may also state that warranties and/or guarantees would be otherwise invalidated. Typically, according to the Supreme Court precedent and federal law, arrangements (in which the sale or support of one product is conditioned upon the purchase or utilization of a separate product from the same manufacturer/supplier) are often considered to be tying arrangements which may constitute an illegal restraint of trade. Clearly, the important considerations for the customer are the technical and economic comparisons between competing products and DeRoyal electrosurgical products, which are the finest available. DEROYAL CUSTOMER INDEMNIFICATION POLICY DeRoyal electrosurgical products carry with them the company s superior workmanship, materials and design, and the further assurance that reasonable care was utilized in the manufacture of these products. DeRoyal will replace, at no charge, any electrosurgical products which fail to meet DeRoyal s standards of workmanship, materials, or design, although DeRoyal will not be responsible for damage after delivery, due to accident, improper use or abuse; or failure to follow instructions provided by DeRoyal. Included in this replacement policy are electrosurgical generators, if damaged, and such damage proven to be solely caused by a defective DeRoyal electrosurgical product or the incompatibility of the DeRoyal product with the electrosurgical generator. Finally, DeRoyal will indemnify the medical facility for any loss or claims for burns proven to be caused by defective DeRoyal electrosurgical products, subject to the conditions that: 1) The medical facility and its associated personnel have, in all respects and at all times, adhered to the instructions provided by DeRoyal. 2) The medical facility has furnished prompt records of any and all claims of damage allegedly caused by defective DeRoyal electrosurgical products by certified mail to DeRoyal at 200 DeBusk Lane; Powell, TN ) The medical facility cooperates fully with DeRoyal to solve the problem, and in the investigation and defense of any claim.
