2 Creating Value for Customers Mobile communication is moving from simple voice and SMS to multimedia. can bring more attractive applications and better experience to subscribers, and provide a higher efficient network and faster roll-out capability of new services to operators. New Generation Leading New Generation family, designed for your sites Figure 1 Huawei New Generation family Urban, Indoor Urban, Outdoor Huawei is dedicated to persistently bringing innovation and value to mobile communications world, and helps operators to deploy an easy-to-operate, TCO saving and future-oriented system. Easy-to-Operate As a complete end-to-end solution provider, Huawei can provide easy operation with operation and maintenance subsystems and toolkits for operators during a network life-cycle, including precise radio network prediction, network planning, daily maintenance, customer complain handling, network optimization and evolution. BTS3812E Macro Indoor Urban, Difficult Site Acquisition Base Band Processing Unit Remote Radio Unit BBU3806/BBU3806C + RRU3801C Distributed Low Traffic Areas Blind Spots or Hot Spots BTS3801C/BTS3803C Mini BTS3812A Macro Outdoor Public Hot Spots, Indoor BTS3801B Pico TCO Saving With Huawei innovative solutions, such as New Generation, Distributed, Hybrid IP Transmission etc., operators can not only achieve the initial phase investment saving and a faster network deployment capability, but also, and more important, get a long-term OPEX saving, which is a big concern for operators especially in 3G era. Future-oriented Huawei is always considering saving future investment for operators and providing future-oriented networks as well. Huawei's unified core network, operating system and service platform, can all smoothly evolve to supporting 3GPP R6-based network. Huawei provides operators a full performance HSDPA solution (14.4 Mbps/cell) from day one to prompt service growth. Features of New Generation Figure 2 Comparison of conventional and New Generation Conventional Standalone Analog Linear PA Single-carrier TRX Limited HSDPA Performance Private Interface Integrated Digital PA Multi-carrier TRX Full HSDPA Performance Open Architecture New Generation Integrated digital power amplifier greatly reduces the power consumption of Multi-carrier TRX allows smooth network evolution Full-performance HSDPA provides high quality mobile broadband service for users Open Architecture enables quick, cost-effective network construction
3 Distributed HSDPA and Hybrid IP Transmission Principle of Huawei Distributed Adopting remote RF technology, Huawei Distributed consists of RRU (Remote Radio Unit) and BBU (Base Band Unit). RRU can be installed close to the antenna, and connected with the Host or BBU via optical fiber. Figure 3 Basic principle of Distributed Outstanding Advantages of Huawei HSDPA Peak rate up to 14.4 Mbps (DL), 384 kbps (UL) Dynamic 15 codes/cell allocation Support a wide variety of data rate, 12 categories of UE Support 64 HSDPA users in one cell simultaneously BBU or Host I/Q digital signal Base band processing unit Optical fiber CPRI RRU TRX RF unit Large capacity (960 Mbps data throughput) and SGSN (10 Gbps throughput) to meet HSDPA requirement Huawei HSDPA SoC ASIC Up to 30% Savings in TCO Sites resource saving and easy site acquisition BBU can be embedded in indoor and outdoor equipment due to its small size, 19' width x 1U height RRU is easy to install due to its light weight, only 20 kg Fast deployment and civil work saving Distributed can be used as macro, RRU output power is 20 W Hybrid IP Transmission, Reducing Transmission Cost With the deployment of HSDPA, much more transmission bandwidth is required. In order to meet the customers' requirements to reduce the cost of transmission with the same quality, Huawei provides a Hybrid IP transmission solution with the principle that voice and other services demanding conversational QoS are carried on high QoS network (eg. E1) and Best Effort packet data services are carried on low QoS network (eg. ADSL). It is also a stepping stone to All IP RAN solution. Reducing power consumption Figure 4 The installation scenarios of Huawei distributed Figure 5 Huawei hybrid IP transmission solution RRU on the Mast RRU on the Wall BBU in GSM BTS Cabinet BBU in Auxiliary Facilities Box For CS Services and High QoS PS services High QoS Network Low QoS Network For best effort PS services Distributed is a preferred choice for 3G operators to construct a cost-effective network
4 Mobile Softswitch GPRS/ Unified PS Core With more than 100 commercially deployed Mobile Softswitch networks, Huawei has been one of the leading suppliers in the mobile softswitch market.
