4 Letters of Appreciation or Complaint Complaint: No complaints (past Stage I) have been received for this period. Appreciation: We continue to receive letters of appreciation from members of the public, schools and organisations that we visit and/or assist with charitable events. The following is a selection of correspondence received since the last Information Bulletin: Sandy Mayor Councillor Will Jackson sent a letter of thanks to Sandy Station: I am writing on behalf of the Friends of Sandy Christmas Lights to thank you for the part you played in supporting the Sandy Christmas Lights Switch On event. Please pass on our thanks to the firefighters who attended our Christmas Lights event with the Fire Engine. The children always enjoy seeing them. The community spirit demonstrated at the event on Sunday was excellent and we have had very positive feedback from residents and visitors. Many individuals and organisations donated equipment, raffle prizes, time and resources to help, without which the event would not have been possible. Once again many thanks for your contribution to the success of the day. We do hope that you will consider supporting our Christmas Lights Event in A resident of Barton Le Clay sent thanks to Luton White Watch: I am writing to thank the Crew that attended on 30 December about 7.45 am. The lift broke down, I am in a wheelchair. They rescued me and my key holder so I could get to Lister Hospital for my appointment. They were excellent and we have the best Fire Service. Please find a cheque enclosed for your Benevolent Fund. Stagsden Parish Council Clerk sent a letter of thanks to CFO Fuller: I am writing to thank you on behalf of Stagsden Parish Council for the defibrillator received from your defibrillator scheme. Councillors and residents were delighted to have been included in this initiative. Thank you once again to you and your staff. Tricia Williams sent a letter of thanks to CFO Fuller: I would like to thank you and all the staff at Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service for the most wonderful gifts and beautiful flowers that were presented to me on the occasion of my early retirement after 35 years with the service. It was a fairly emotional day but, I take with me, a lifetime of happy memories, especially of all the people I was so fortunate to work with over the years. Even though I'm sure that I will miss my friends and colleagues at BFRS, I am looking forward to starting a new phase of life, together with all the opportunities if may bring. Thanks again, and I wish you all, every success for the future. 15.4
5 Helen Nellis HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire sent a letter of thanks to CFO Fuller: Thank you so much for hosting a most enjoyable visit to Sandy Fire Station this week. It was a great pleasure to meet your impressive and enthusiastic Cadets and adult helpers, and to see them in action. I am delighted to hear your plans to expand the number of Fire Cadets across the County and I have no doubt that this will be a positive influence on many more young lives. I was also thrilled to meet my new LL Cadet, Connor Walker and his family. I hope that he will have an excellent experience and represent the County with pride. Please pass on my thanks to all at Sandy. A resident of Luton sent thanks to the Community Safety Team: I recently ed you as one of the original smoke alarms fitted in my home had run out of battery and you suggested a new Home Fire Safety Check. Ray subsequently contacted me to arrange an appointment and visited this morning to carry out the check and fit new smoke alarms and also provided a Carbon Monoxide alarm. Ray was extremely helpful and gave me very valuable advice on measures to prevent a fire in the first place and also what to do in the event of a home fire. As a thank you, I am pleased to enclose a cheque donation to the Fire Fighters Charity. Many thanks again for your help - it is much appreciated. Sight Concern Bedfordshire sent thanks to Gill Pritchett following a donation from the proceeds from the Christmas Raffle: Thank you for your very kind donation in the sum of Sight Concern Bedfordshire aims to enhance the independence and quality of life of blind and visually impaired people living in Bedfordshire and Luton. We rely on donations, legacies, gifts from Trusts and Foundations as well as box collections to enable us to continue with this essential work. By donating to us you are helping to achieve that important aim for local people. Your support and assistance is greatly appreciated. CFO Martyn Emberson, Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service sent a letter thanking CFO Fuller for assistance during the Recycling Centre fire at Wollaston on 18 January 2015: I am writing to express my personal appreciation to your crews for their professionalism in assisting us in dealing with the above incident on the 18 January I am aware that had it not been for the dogged determination and aggressive offensive firefighting tactics that were deployed at this severely developing fire, it would certainly have spread to two or three buildings, resulting in the likely loss of a joinery workshop business and the complete shutdown of the Recycling Centre. This was a job very well done and on behalf of the community and the Service, I would like to pass on my sincere thanks. 15.5
