1 Maha Raktdaan Shivir Blood Donation Camp Blood makes up about 7 percent of our body's weight. The gift of blood is the gift of life. There is no substitute for human blood. Every two seconds someone needs blood and more than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day. Keeping all these facts in view, the Govt. of Rajasthan, Department of Technical Education and Rajasthan technical university of Kota, conducted a mega blood donation camp, and RIET had the honor and privilege to host this pragmatic event on 25 th September This mega camp was organized in the memory of Late Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya (25 September February 1968), who was an Indian philosopher, economist, educationist, sociologist, historian, journalist, and political scientist. A cluster of over 20 colleges and over 500 students of Jaipur congregated at the RIET campus to participate in this social cause. In the inaugural ceremony for the Maha Raktdaan Shivir, Chief Guest Shri Kailash Verma, MLA, Bagru & Guest of Honor Shri Mukesh Sharma, Parshad, Bhankrota, gave their gracious presence. The programme started with the lamp lightening and paying obeisance to the almighty for His blessings. Director RIET, Prof. (Dr.) Surendra kumar, former senior scientist, BARC, welcomed the guests and addressed the gathering with his welcome speech and briefed about the importance of blood donation.

Further he state that Blood cannot be manufactured it can only come from generous donors and to save the society and mankind we all should come forwards for this noble cause. temperature, blood pressure, pulse and hemoglobin to ensure it is safe for the donor to give blood. Every blood donor is given a mini-physical, checking the donor's Principal RIET, Prof. (Dr.) Virendra Swaroop Sangtani delivered words of motivation to the participants from all colleges and faculty members, for putting in their valued time and their donation towards this cause. 4 The blood donation started in the morning at 9.00 am, the first unit was donated by Mr. Shashikant Ray, HOD CRT, after which a large number of faculty members from RIET and other colleges also participated in the event and voluntarily donated blood. It was surprising to see excited and enthusiastic students in large numbers lined up to donate blood. Refreshments were provided to the donors as essential for the body. The college management took immense care to meet the requirements of students after donating the blood, so as to avoid any mishaps in the campus. One of the students said, It feels great to participate in the event and feel the urge to donate the blood as it is required by many. The camp was organized in a much disciplined manner checking each and every aspect of donor s health. The camp packed up in the evening at 4.00pm. Ms. Vedika Sharma, event cocoordinator said that over 300 units were collected in the entire day. A noble cause was duly and successfully fulfilled.
