2 Introduction Anybody involved in financial decision making/ planning would need financial modelling for their day to day decision making. The program will cover important concepts of financial management and an insight on how to convert the real world applications in Excel Spreadsheet Model. Objectives This program will facilitate the users to analyse their financial data on complex problems using Microsoft Excel. The participants need not be proficient in computer applications, but some familiarity with basic features of Excel is desirable. In any case, one session will be exclusively devoted to make participants familiar with the basic features of Excel Spreadsheet. The important benefits that participants can expect from the program are: Understand the core concepts of Financial Management, Develop hands-on, spreadsheet modeling skills, and Build a number of finance applications, which are fully understandable. Contents The following broad topics will be covered during the program: Excel Basics and Data Analysis using Excel Forecasting of Financial Statements o Profit & Loss Statements o Balance Sheet o Cash Flow Statements Valuation using o Free Cash Flow Methods o Investment Valuation o Valuation of company, Stocks, etc. Risk Management o Risk measures using standard deviation and beta o Cost of Capital Capital Budgeting o NPV, IRR and similar measures Special Topics o Simulation for financial decision making o Other relevant contemporary issues

3 Pedagogy The pedagogy will consist of lectures and hands on practice sessions. A disk containing study material and Excel templates for developing real-world applications will be provided to the participants at the beginning of the Workshop. Hands on practical sessions are essential for Learning by solving Example. We believe that the best way to learn financial modeling is by working through examples and solving real life cases. This program has fully developed this hands-on, active learning approach, wherein participants build financial models themselves, using simple built-in Excel functions. Building from Simple Examples to Real-World Applications. The general approach is to start with simple examples and build up to a practical, real-world application. Faculty Experienced faculty of IIM Raipur, along with eminent experts from the industry will conduct the sessions. Who should participate? The program is so designed to keep it jargon free and non-mathematical and useful for anyone using Excel for day to day financial applications. However the program is mainly targeted for: Corporate executives involved in financial decision making Professionals and research scholars who are actively engaged in analysis of Financial data Note: Participants are requested to bring their own laptop and charger. Duration & Venue The Programme is scheduled during April 16-18, 2014 on a residential basis at IIM Raipur, GEC Campus, Sejbahar; Accommodation for participants would be arranged at a city hotel. Registration Fee The registration fee per participant is Rs.30000/- per participant. This includes academic fee, Programme kit for participants, boarding and lodging (on twin sharing basis). He is also the Chairperson of Executive Education & Consultancy. He received his Ph.D. in finance from Anna University Chennai, MBA from Bharathiar University, MFT from Pondicherry University and a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Madras University. Before, joining IIM Raipur, he had worked as a faculty in Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Tamilnadu. He has teaching, research and industry experience of about 16 years. His areas of research, teaching and consultancy include portfolio management and market efficiency, security analysis, behavioural finance, corporate finance and financial modelling. He is a member of American Accounting Association (AAA) and Financial Management Association International (FMA). He has been published a number of research articles in various Indian and international journals. He is been a member of an Editorial Advisory Board in international journals and served as an Associate Editor for The Journal Contemporary Management Research, the bi-annual peer-reviewed journal published by Bharathidasan Institute of Management. He is organised and being the resource person for a series of workshops on Data Analysis for Management Research using SPSS conducted by premier Institutions. He has participated Global Colloquium on Participant Centered Learning (GloColl-2012) at the Harvard Business School, Boston, MA.

5 Prof. S. K. Mitra He is a senior faculty of Finance at IIM Raipur. He has worked with the Institute of Management (IMT), Nagpur and Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA). He also had more than 20 years of Industrial experience in a number of Government, Private and Multinational Corporations. He has a number of national and international publications to his credit, including one of the most popular case studies at Harvard Business School Publishing. His area of interest is Corporate Finance, Financial Modelling, Empirical Finance, Investment Analysis and Business Valuation. Prof. Venkata Vijay Kumar Venkata Vijay Kumar undertakes finance courses for PGP and PGPEX courses. His area of interest lies in capital markets and microfinance. He has pursued doctorate from IIM Indore on the primary equity markets in India. Prior to academics, he was a software engineer for couple of years.
