Next, in years he attends the Engineering Faculty of the Politecnico di Milano achieving the bachelor degree in Transports Engineering with a final mark of 110 (on a maximum of 110). Then, from 2004 to 2006 he achieves the master degree in Management Engineering always at Politecnico di Milano with a final mark of 110 (on 110) with a thesis entitled: Supply chain strategies for the Italian luxury industry. In parallel (years ) he enrolled in the Alta Scuola Politecnica. The Alta Scuola Politecnica (ASP), founded in 2004 by the Politecnico di Milano and the Politecnico di Torino, is one of the nine Scuole di Alta Formazione in Italy (i.e. schools for highly selected students). The ASP is attended by 150 students selected among the 6,000 who enrol in the masters of science of the two Politecnici (in engineering, architecture or design). This community of students coming from different disciplines are joined into one single class to develop their interdisciplinary capabilities to conceive and implement complex innovation projects. The ASP consists of an additional program that runs in parallel to the master of sciences. It entails interdisciplinary courses on innovation and design processes and the development of projects, in multidisciplinary teams, for external firms and institutions (for further information: Thanks to this experience Ruggero gets the ASP diploma and the double degree in Industrial Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. From March 2007 he collaborates with Politecnico di Milano and Università degli Studi di Bergamo on research, teaching and consultancy activities.

2 Ensuing his participation in a Ph.D. study program from 2008 to 2011, Ruggero received his Ph.D. degree in Economics and Technology Management at Università degli Studi di Bergamo with the thesis "Global supply chain management in the manufacturing industry". During this period, he also attended several international doctoral conferences, workshops and symposia and collaborated with research institutions at the international level. In August 2011 he was selected and participated in the fourth meeting of Lindau on economics where he had the opportunity to hear and meet more than 15 Nobel Prize winners in economics. Scientific and Research Activity The research activity, started with the Master Thesis, has been developed inside the Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano and the Department of Economics and Technology Management of Università degli Studi di Bergamo. The research activity has been conducted mainly on Operations and Supply Chain Management with a particular focus on Globalization and International studies. The main methodologies applied in these researches are survey and case studies. In particular, the following areas have been studied. Development of expert system for supply chain management decisions Development of two rule and knowledge based expert systems in collaboration with several leading firms. The first one for the evaluation of the benefits of eprocurement. The second one to assess the most effective investments to support a global sourcing strategy. Supply chain strategies in the luxury industry Started with the Master Thesis, this study has been conducted through case studies of some of the most excellent Italian luxury products makers. The objective was to deepen peculiar factors of the luxury industry that may affect supply chain strategy and to evaluate the validity of literature models in this sector. Global supply chain strategies in the manufacturing industry This is topic is directly connected to the Ph.D. thesis. Using IMSS database 1 and case studies, global supply chain configurations, strategies and related performances have been highlighted in different conference papers and publications. ebusiness strategies in the Supply Chain Always by means of IMSS database, this study aimed to identify the adoption level of electronic tools for supply chain integration. A longitudinal analysis has been performed between 2001 and 2005 to highlight the main trends in using electronic tools for supporting information sharing and system coupling with suppliers and customers. About ebusiness, another research based on case studies has been conducted to identify the maturity level in adopting eprocurement among 15 large multinational companies. 1 IMSS: is a research network of universities from all over the world that collaborate to the definition of a questionnaire and the data collection. The aim of the project is to investigate manufacturing strategies and practices in industrialized nations throughout the world. The motivation behind the project is to create possibilities for comparative analyses of manufacturing strategies in the engineering / assembly industries (ISIC 28-35), and to analyze specific hypotheses within this context. The fifth iteration (IMSS-V) of the survey has been conducted in 2009, with the participation of more than 700 firms in 20 countries.

3 International adoption of advanced organizational models in manufacturing The aim of this research is to understand the diffusion of advanced organizational models (e.g. more autonomy, team working and training for workers) in different countries according to their cultural profile. Moreover, we studied the relationship between such organizational models and the performance in the adoption of sustainability practices. Other recent topics under development are: sustainability in manufacturing networks and the supply chain and project management in international development projects. International research activity From August to December 2009 Ruggero Golini joined as a visiting researcher the Center on Globalization, Governance and Competitiveness of Duke University (Durham, North Carolina). There he took part to two research projects about two green technologies: Powder Coating and Efficient Electric Motors. The objective of the studies was to analyze the global structure of the value chain of these products, the historical diffusion of the technology and the drivers and barriers to the adoption. In the same period he attended classes of Capstone Course in Markets & Management Studies and Globalization and Development held by Prof. Gary Gereffi. Since 2006 Ruggero Golini has been part of the IMSS international research network that involves more than 20 partners located in different countries. He contributed to the design of the survey and the coordination of the network. He is also member of EurOMA and Decision Science organizations. Awards EurOMA conference 2009: Best paper award (Paper: "The impact of country culture on the adoption of new forms of work organization"). The paper was then published on the International Journal of Operations and Production Management. IPSERA conference 2012: Best paper award (Paper: Sustainable supply chain management: the role of supply chain management investments and of global sourcing ). In August 2011 he was selected and participated in the fourth meeting of Lindau on economics where he had the opportunity to hear and meet more than 15 Nobel Prize winners in economics. Teaching activity Since 2007 Ruggero Golini is also a lecturer of Project Management and Supply Chain Management at MIP (the business school of Politecnico di Milano). Between 2007 and 2011 he gives lectures for undergraduate students within the course of General Management, Marketing and Supply Chain Management at Università degli Studi di Bergamo. Since 2011 he is Professor of General Management and Supply Chain Management at Università degli Studi di Bergamo.

4 Consultancy and research projects Ruggero Golini has participated to different research and consultancy projects promoted by Politecnico di Milano, Universtà degli Studi di Bergamo and MIP Business School in collaboration with leading firms and public administration. To mention some of them: Reorganization of the Milan Tribunal. A project to reorganize to make more efficient and effective the Milan Tribunal operations. ecommerce market share analysis. Based on detailed selling data, we have estimated whether the adoption of ecommerce increases the market share in the IT B2B sector. Global value chain in the high-speed rolling stock industry. Based on the results of the research projects conducted in 2007 and 2008 about IT eprocurement in collaboration with a leading IT firm, all the material is being organized to be put on a virtual platform in order to be accessible at a global scale by all employees. eprocurement value assessment. A project delivered in collaboration with a leading IT firm. The project aimed to develop a tool for a qualitative and quantitative assessment of the benefits associated to an eprocurement solution. Business plan evaluation. Collaboration in a project for evaluating the value of a large real estate investment. A forecasting and production planning system for a cotton mill. This project conducted for one of the biggest high-end cotton mills in Italy, had the objective of creating and testing a forecasting model for the production planning. Agorà Project. The scope of this project was to find new possible forms of collaboration among small companies of the mechanical cluster of Lecco. eprocurement trends. This project, run in collaboration with a leading IT firm, aimed to identify eprocurement adoption trends and approaches.
