1 Sample Forms Taxi and limousine drivers drive automobiles and limousines to transport passengers. Taxi and limousine drivers are employed by taxi and other transportation service companies, or they may be self-employed. l Check out the VECTOR work video before completing the tasks. Choose video or video with subtitles. 1. Tasks NOC 7413 Taxicab Driver Take Sheet Receipt School Run Essential Skills Focus Document Use Measurement and Calculation Oral Communication Problem Solving Taxicab Drivers complete Take Sheets to keep track of the daily pick-ups and drop-offs of customers. Look at the United Taxi Take Sheets. Task 1 A Taxicab Driver has 3 customers within the first hour of work. The following are the takes or amounts paid by customers (either by credit card charge or in cash): 1. Charge $ Charge $ Cash $19.70 Fill in the Take Sheet for these 3 customers and write the total of the takes in the subtotal column. Document Use Task 2 The total on the Taxicab Driver s take sheet for the day is $ and should be the same as the total on the dispatch computer system in the taxi. The computer total is $ How much is the amount collected different from the amount on the dispatch system? Measurement and Calculation 1

2 Taxicab Drivers are required to fill out receipts for customers who ride the taxi using corporate accounts. Look at the receipt form. Task 3 A Taxicab Driver has picked up a customer from the bus depot and must drive them to the Holiday Inn on Kings Road. The trip costs $ The dispatch receiver shows that the pick-up time was 1:13 p.m. and the drop-off time was 1:28 p.m. The corporate account is Life Insurance Canada. Does the driver require any further information to complete the form, and if the driver does need further information, what is it? Document Use Taxicab Drivers may be responsible for school runs where they will be picking up students who are either disabled or outside the regular catchment area of the school buses. Taxicab Drivers are required to complete forms related to each school run. Look at the School Runs form. Task 4 On January 17th, Car: Van332 was on school run #15. Four children aged 7 to 10 are picked up on this route. Road conditions were icy and the children were scared. The taxicab driver decides to enter information into the comment section. Enter the information into the comments section that the taxicab driver should state. Document Use Taxicab Drivers fill out charge slips when a customer pays using VISA, Mastercard or American Express. Task 5 A trip costs $23.10 and the customer pays using VISA. The taxicab driver enters the card number in the dispatch receiver to receive an Authorization No. The authorization comes back as denied. The driver will need to explain to the customer that the card cannot be used and provide the customer with alternative solutions. When you are ready, record your answer. Oral Communication 2

3 Task 6 A customer at the end of a trip begins to argue that the taxicab driver took a longer route and wants a discount on the total fare. How could this kind of disagreement be avoided in the future? Problem Solving Task 7 A customer requests a route that will be very slow due to road construction. Task 6 A customer at the end of a trip begins to argue that the taxicab driver took a longer route and wants a discount on the total fare. How could this kind of disagreement be avoided in the future? s will vary. Sample answer - Before beginning the trip the taxicab driver could always ask the customer for their preferred route and this will help to avoid any future disputes. The driver should offer an alternative route that avoids road closures, but also ask the customer if they have a preferred alternative route. Check page 17 for one way to get this answer. Locate the first box in the Charge column and enter the first charge of $ Locate the second box in the Charge column and enter the second charge of $ Locate the Cash column. 6. Locate the third box in the Cash column and enter the third take of $ Identify what is required: the subtotal of the current takes. 8. Locate the headings Charge and Cash and decide these are the amounts required to create a subtotal. 9. Set up the problem to calculate: Charge 1 + Charge 2 + Cash 3 = Subtotal of takes. 10. Calculate: = $ Decide that $71.00 is the required information. 12. Scan the Take Sheet for the key word Subtotal. 13. Locate the Subtotal column. 14. The cab driver is short $6.80 One way to get this answer Identify what is required: the difference between the take sheet total and the computer total. 2. Set up the problem: calculate the computer total the take sheet total = the difference between the amount collected and the amount of the dispatch system. 3. Locate the heading Charge to. 14. Locate the corporate account name in the task. 15. Decide that the information to enter on the Charge to line is Life Insurance Canada. 16. Scan the receipt form using the key words Pick Up and Drop Off. 17. Locate the heading Pick Up Time. 18. Locate the pick up time in the task. 19. Decide that the information to enter on the Pick Up Time line is 1:13 p.m. 20. Locate the heading Drop Off Time. 21. Locate the drop off time in the task. 22. Decide that the information to enter on the Drop Off Time line is 1:28 p.m. 12

Set up the solution: using personal experience as a paying customer, decide that another credit card would easily solve the situation, but another solution maybe needed and cash would be an option. To get cash quickly you can use a debit machine and there are usually debit machines close by. 4. Check that the requested information has been covered in your answer. One way to get this answer Identify the problem: how can a taxicab driver avoid a customer accusing the driver of taking a longer route? 2. Determine the goal: to avoid disagreements with customers on whether a route was longer than necessary. 3. Decide on actions: Think about what can be done before a trip starts in a taxicab to ensure a customer is happy with the route taken to their destination. 4. Set up the solution: If a customer thinks a route is too long, it may be because they know a quicker route themselves. 5.
