2 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INFORMATION APPLICATION PROCESS/REQUIREMENTS: Pensacola State College awards scholarships based on academic merit, leadership, school and community service, financial need, athletics and other criteria. To qualify, applicants must follow and adhere to the following guidelines. All applicants must submit a completed Pensacola State College Scholarship Application. Students must submit an application for admission to the college before submitting a scholarship application. Failure to submit a completed Pensacola State College Scholarship Application and ALL required documentation will result in the applicant NOT being considered for available scholarships. Pensacola State College Academic Merit Scholarships: Scholarship applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien. Scholarship applicants must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average on all high school or college/vocational credits and must plan to enroll on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 college credits or 450 clock hours). Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment and a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average. The Financial Aid Office is required to assess each scholarship recipient s financial need. Before receiving a Pensacola State College Academic Merit scholarship award, scholarship applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid ( submit it to the federal processor with college code for Pensacola State College, and inform the Financial Aid Office when they receive their Student Aid Report (SAR). Students who have completed an associate s or higher degree, or have attempted or completed a total of 65 college credits or more, are not eligible to receive a Pensacola State Academic Merit scholarship. Baccalaureate degree seeking students may contact the Dean, Baccalaureate Studies and Academic Support, for scholarship information. Pensacola State College Foundation Scholarships: The Pensacola State College Foundation, Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation established to encourage, solicit, receive and administer funds for the benefit of the college and college activities including the college s scholarship program. A scholarship applicant must be a U.S. citizen, resident of Northwest Florida, have a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average on all high school or college/vocational credit and may be enrolled in six or more credits, or 225 clock hours. Other specific criteria may apply. DEADLINES FOR CONSIDERATION: Pensacola State College Scholarship Applications and all requisite academic transcripts and documentation are accepted throughout the specified academic year but are subject to firm deadlines established for each term. Submitted applications will be reviewed for eligibility for each term thereafter for that academic year. FALL TERM on or before May 1, 2013 SPRING TERM on or before November 1, 2013 SUMMER TERM on or before March 1, 2014 If deadline date listed falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, applications will be accepted on the next business day. The Pensacola State College Scholarship Application is also available on the Pensacola State College Financial Aid/Scholarships website at A completed Pensacola State College Scholarship Application can be submitted to the Financial Aid/ Scholarships Office located in the Registration Center, Building 2, Pensacola campus, the Financial Aid/ Scholarships Office on the Warrington or Milton campus, or can be mailed to: Pensacola State College Financial Aid/Scholarships Office, Bldg College Boulevard Pensacola, FL 32504

3 High School Applicants: Current high school seniors are required to attach a preliminary official high school transcript (grade 9 through the first semester of grade 12) with their scholarship application and apply for admission to the college. Upon graduation from high school a final transcript must be submitted to the Pensacola State Student Records Office. All home educated students must provide official documentation of registration with their high school district for grades 11 and 12, a Home School affidavit, and either a minimum score of 520 computation and 521 verbal on the SAT; or a minimum score of 19 English, 20 Math, and 22 Reading on the ACT; or a minimum 104 Reading, 99 Writing and 123 Math PERT test scores. The required documentation must be on file with the college. All Other Applicants: If an applicant s high school graduation date is less than 10 years prior to the beginning date of the 2013 Fall term AND the applicant has not completed at least 12 college or vocational credits, or 450 clock hours, the applicant must submit an official copy of their high school transcript to the Pensacola State Student Records Office. Selection consideration will be based on the high school grade point average. High school dual enrollment courses are considered in calculating the high school grade point average until the student has completed at least 12 credits beyond the high school graduation. If an applicant s high school graduation date is more than 10 years prior to the beginning date of the 2013 Fall term, applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 college prep, college or vocational credits, or 450 clock hours from Pensacola State College and/or other college(s). The combined GPA from Pensacola State College and/or other colleges will be used to determine the cumulative GPA. If an applicant has completed 12 or more college or vocational credits, or 450 clock hours at Pensacola State College and has not attended any other colleges, the applicant submits only the Pensacola State College Scholarship Application to the Financial Aid/Scholarships Office. If an applicant has completed 12 or more college or vocational credits, or 450 clock hours at Pensacola State College and other college(s), the applicant must submit to the Pensacola State Student Records Office an official copy of the college transcript from the other college(s). The combined GPA from all colleges will be used to determine the cumulative GPA. A student who has scored a 3000 or higher on the General Education Development Exam (GED) may be eligible for a Pensacola State College scholarship. Applicant must have tested or re-tested for the GED exam with the Pensacola State College Test Center between April 1, 2012 and March 31, For more information refer to the Pensacola State College Scholarship Handbook of Criteria for Academic and Non-Academic Scholarships. Handbooks are located in the Financial Aid/Scholarships Office on the Pensacola, Warrington, or Milton Campus. Additional information concerning Pensacola State College and Pensacola State College Foundation Scholarships is available in the Scholarship section in the College Catalog or on the Pensacola State College web site at Scholarship forms are academic year specific (FALL, SPRING, SUMMER). 4 PENSACOLA STATE COLLEGE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS The Pensacola State College Foundation, Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation established to encourage, solicit, receive and administer funds for the benefit of the college and college activities, including the college s scholarship program. There are two categories of Pensacola State College Foundation scholarships each requiring separate application procedures. Not all scholarships are awarded every semester. Category 1: Pensacola State College Foundation Scholarships awarded by the Pensacola State College Scholarship Selection Committee using Pensacola State College Foundation approved selection criteria or with donor approved criteria. Category 2: Scholarships awarded by a Pensacola State College Foundation/College-appointed awarding administrator using selected criteria established by the donor. Category 1: Pensacola State College FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED BY THE Pensacola State College SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION COMMITTEE Award Amount: Varies and based on available funds Number of Awards: Varies Length of Award: Minimum of one term Selection Made By: Pensacola State College Scholarship Selection Committee Point of Contact: Pensacola State College Financial Aid/Scholarships Office (850) APPLICATION PROCEDURES and SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Complete a Pensacola State College Scholarship Application and return it to the Pensacola State College Financial Aid/Scholarships Office. 2. Applicants must have a completed Application for Admission and Residence Statement on file with the Student Records Office prior to registering for classes. High school and/or college transcripts must also be on file in the Student Records Office by the required deadline. 3. Scholarship deadline dates are strictly enforced: FALL TERM on or before May 1, 2013 SPRING TERM on or before November 1, 2013 SUMMER TERM on or before March 1, 2014 If deadline date listed falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, applications will be accepted on the next business day. Students will be considered for any of the following scholarships for which they meet the criteria. Pensacola State College Foundation General Scholarship 1. Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding. 2. Student must have a minimum grade point average of Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien. 4. Student must be a resident of Northwest Florida. 5. Student must enroll or be enrolled in a program of study leading to an award, certificate, or associates degree. 6. Student may enroll on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum of 6 credits or 225 clock hours). 7. Scholarship will cover registration fees and/or books. Some Pensacola State College Foundation scholarships use this general scholarship criteria but may require a minimum grade point average of 2.0.

5 ADDITIONAL Pensacola State College FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED BY THE Pensacola State College SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION COMMITTEE Pensacola State College Foundation Donor Specific Scholarships Requiring Supporting Documentation In order to be considered for the following scholarships, applicants must submit appropriate documentation attached to the scholarship application showing they meet the specific criteria of the scholarship in addition to any other criteria which may apply. The complete criteria for these scholarships are available for review in the Financial Aid Scholarship Office located on the Pensacola campus. Award amounts vary and are dependent on available funds: Chester Miller Endowed Memorial Scholarship Preference is given to youth who have come from foster homes or alternative school environments. Submit documentation. Coastal Bank & Trust Endowed Scholarship Preference is given to bank employees, their children or spouses, or other individuals pursuing a career in commercial banking or finance. Submit documentation. Dr. G.B. Tamburello Endowed Scholarship Preference is given to military personnel or military dependent. Submit documentation. Gulf Breeze Hospital Employee Foundation Scholarship Gulf Breeze Hospital employees/dependents must submit a letter of verification of current employment. Herring, Williams, Warrington Methodist Endowed Scholarship Student must provide a letter of recommendation from his or her pastor. Preference is given to a member of Warrington United Methodist Church. Lewis Bear Company Endowed Scholarship Preference is given to The Lewis Bear Company employee dependents. Submit employment verification. McDonald s Hospitality Endowed Scholarship Preference is given to students who are currently employed in the hospitality industry. Submit employment verification. Ross C. Shiver Endowed Scholarship Preference is given to dependents of active duty or retired military personnel. Submit documentation. VIC Progressive Regional Scholarship Preference is given to active members of the VIC Progressive Region. Submit documentation.

6 Pensacola State College Foundation Donor Specific Scholarships In order to be considered for the following scholarships, information from the scholarship application and/or college records must show applicants meet the specific criteria of the scholarship in addition to any other criteria that may apply. The complete criteria for these scholarships are available for review in the Financial Aid/Scholarship Office located on the Pensacola campus. Award amounts vary and are dependent on available funds: Aaron Lee Thomas Memorial Endowed Scholarship Preference is given to a Woodham High School graduate. Alfred I. dupont Foundation Scholarship Student must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Bea Grow Memorial Endowed Scholarship Student must be a local high school graduate majoring in a discipline that serves humanity, e.g., counseling, nursing, medical, social work, etc. Bobby Depew Endowed Scholarship Student must be a resident of Santa Rosa County. Charles and Mercedes Keller Endowed Scholarship Preference given to an Escambia High School graduate. Celestine Carroll Scholarship Award based on financial need (expected family contribution (EFC)) based on FAFSA and/or participation in the free lunch program. Student must demonstrate leadership in extracurricular activities such as athletics, school or church clubs, community service, and other similar endeavors. Dr. Garrett T. Wiggins Live Your Dream Scholarship Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Preference is given but not limited to minority students. Drs. Mary Ellen and William Spears Endowed Scholarship Student must have completed 30 credit hours and be majoring in one of the following fields of study: physical science, biological science, math, computer science, or psychology. Edward Wilson Turner Memorial Scholarship Endowment Student must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. FFCC (Foundation for Florida Community Colleges) Endowed Scholarship Student must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.

7 Greater Pensacola Antique Dealers Scholarship Preference is given to an education major. Gretchen Squires Endowed Scholarship Student must have completed a minimum of 30 credits. Hill Memorial Scholarship Student must be a graduate of Central High School. Hispanic Action Society Scholarship Student must be Hispanic or direct Hispanic descendent. Jacob Horton Memorial Endowed Scholarship Student must be majoring in business. Jane C. Noonan Memorial Endowed Scholarship Student must major in a program of study in the fields of Economic Development business, clerical, computer science, or a technology area. Katie Lee Sullivan Memorial Scholarship Student must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Leadership Pensacola Endowed Scholarship Student should possess leadership qualities and have the potential to commit to leadership in student activities or the community. Rotary Club of Pensacola Endowed Scholarship Preference to students who exhibit Rotary value of community service. Wilton Wiggins Memorial Scholarship Student must be a resident of south Santa Rosa county who has graduated from a south Santa Rosa county high school.

8 Category 2: CATEGORY 2: Pensacola State College FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED BY FOUNDATION/COLLEGE-APPOINTED AWARDING ADMINISTRATOR USING SELECTION CRITERIA ESTABLISHED BY THE DONOR. APPLICATION PROCEDURES & SELECTION CRITERIA These Pensacola State College Foundation Scholarships are available to students who meet eligibility criteria (honors, minority, disabled, disadvantaged) and/or for those enrolled in one of the programs of study indicated. All students who can demonstrate financial need are invited to inquire about Pensacola State College Foundation Scholarships. Every scholarship has different eligibility criteria. Some Foundation scholarships require that students have GPAs above a 3.0 and others have lower GPA requirements. Additionally, some are general in nature and other Foundation scholarships are only open to students in a specific field of study. There is a separate application process for these Pensacola State College Foundation scholarships. Applicants should contact one of the individuals listed below for specific details about available scholarships, eligibility criteria, applications and deadlines.
