DETAILS ON EACH OF OUR SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS Scholarship applicants must meet all admissions and financial requirements of the College for enrollment. All scholarship applicants must (at a minimum) complete the following: 1. Complete and sign a Scholarship Application Form. 2. Provide Proof of High School Graduation or GED 3. Sign an affidavit of eligibility. 4. Submit a 500-word essay on How will earning a degree change my life? These requirements apply to all scholarship applications. Application for the Build a Better Future Scholarship requires a letter of recommendation from the College s Campus Director or designee. In addition to the information provided here, we encourage you to contact a campus near you for additional information. ADULT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS First Time College Attendee Scholarship: To be eligible an applicant must be the first person in his/her immediate family (parents and siblings) to pursue a college education and this must be the first college level program that the applicant has pursued. The scholarship award is for $2,500. To remain eligible for the First Time Degree Scholarship, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and at least 85% attendance North-West College Scholarships 1
2 Hispanic Student Scholarship: To be eligible, an applicant must be fluent in Spanish and English, be of Hispanic heritage, and a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident. The scholarship award is for $2,500. To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and at least 85% attendance. African American Student Scholarship: To be eligible, an applicant must be of African American heritage, and a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident. The scholarship award is for $2,500. To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and at least 85% attendance. Asian and Pacific Islander Student Scholarship: To be eligible, an applicant must be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander heritage, and a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident. The scholarship award is for $2,500. To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and at least 85% attendance. Native American Student Scholarship: To be eligible, an applicant must be of Native American heritage, and a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident. The scholarship award is for $2,500. To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and at least 85% attendance. Single Parent Scholarship: To be eligible, an applicant must be the single custodial parent for a child under the age of 18 (proof required) and be presently single, divorced, or widowed. The scholarship award is for $2,500. To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and at least 85% attendance. Professional Women s Scholarship: To be eligible, an applicant must be female, age 25 or older, and pursuing their first associate s degree. The scholarship award is for $2,500. 3 Professional Men s Scholarship: To be eligible, an applicant must be male, age 25 or older, and pursuing their first associate s degree. The scholarship award is for $2,500. To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and at least 85% attendance. Leadership and Armed Forces Scholarship: To be eligible, an applicant must have demonstrated leadership experience and/or have served in our armed forces and have been honorably discharged. The scholarship award is for $2,500. To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and at least 85% attendance. Future in Nursing Scholarship: To be eligible, an applicant must demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA process, express a desire to eventually go into the nursing profession, and enroll in one of the college s healthcare programs. The scholarship award is for $2,500. To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and at least 85% attendance. Moms in Healthcare Scholarship: To be eligible, an applicant must be female, have children under the age of 18, demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA process, and enroll in one of the college s Entrepreneur Scholarship: To be eligible, an applicant must enroll in one of the college s programs with entrepreneurial opportunities such as Massage Therapy and submit a draft business plan. The scholarship award is for $2,500. To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and at least 85% attendance. Healthcare Provider Scholarship: To be eligible, an applicant must enroll in a healthcare program and demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA process. The scholarship award is for $2,500. To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and at least 85% attendance. North-West College Scholarship Information 3
4 Healthcare Administrator Scholarship: To be eligible, an applicant must enroll in a program related to Health Care Administration, demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA process, and have prior work experience in health care (proof of work experience must be provided). The scholarship award is for $2,500. To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and at least 85% attendance. OTHER SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS Build a Better Future Scholarship: This scholarship is to help people who have successfully completed the College s GED classes and earned their GED or completed the Bridge to Success High School completion program and graduate with a H.S. Diploma. There is no limit on how many Build a Better Future scholarships a campus can award each year. To be eligible, applicants must have completed the College s GED classes or Bridge to Success High School Online Program, earned their GED or High School Diploma, and apply for the scholarship within 30 days of earning their GED. To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients must enroll in one of our program offerings and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA and at least 85% attendance. The scholarship award is for $2,500. NOTE TO ALL SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS Scholarship recipients acknowledge and agree that they will not portray North-West College, Glendale Career College, or Nevada Career Institute (together, Colleges ) in a negative, harmful, disparaging, offensive or otherwise inappropriate manner as determined in the Colleges sole discretion. The Colleges reserve the right in their sole discretion to make any changes or modifications to the scholarship awards, including but not limited to, the criteria, the selection process, the deadline dates, and the terms and conditions for receiving scholarship awards. Any violation of scholarship terms and conditions, as determined in the Colleges sole discretion, will result in disqualification of the scholarship and/or termination of the scholarship award. 5 acknowledge and agree that they shall have no right to appeal or contest the decision of the Colleges to terminate the scholarship awards upon any violation of the applicable terms and conditions. In the event that any provision of the scholarship terms and conditions shall be held void, voidable, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. 6 Q: Is there a deadline for applying for the scholarship awards? A: Yes. The deadline is based on your start date. An applicant for a scholarship must submit all of the required paperwork at least one week prior to starting school. Q: Can I apply for more than one scholarship? A: Yes. You can apply for more than one type of scholarship award but you may only receive one award from the college. You cannot receive multiple scholarship awards from the College Q: If I can only receive one scholarship award, can I apply for several awards to increase my chance or receiving one scholarship award? A: Yes. You can apply for as many Scholarship awards as you are eligible, but you can only receive one award. NUMBER AND AMOUNTS Q: Are there really $250,000 in scholarship awards available? A: Yes, we can provide updates upon request regarding the number and type of scholarships awarded at each of our campuses. Q: Are there an unlimited number of scholarship awards available? A: No. The scholarship fund is limited to $250,000. Q: $250,000 is a lot of money. Can I apply for all of it? A: No. Each scholarship award is for a specific amount. See specific scholarship details above. Q: Will there always be $250,000 available throughout the year? A: No. Since scholarship awards are made throughout the year, the amount available for the year is reduced as awards are made. North-West College Scholarship Information 6

ELIGIBILITY Q: What are the eligibility requirements for each type of scholarship award? A: lf you read above, there is a description of each scholarship award and the eligibility criteria. Q: Can I apply for one of the Adult Scholarships without taking a test? A: Yes. Eligibility for our Adult Scholarships is not based upon any testing. Q: Do my previous high school or college grades affect my eligibility for the Adult Scholarships? A: No. Our Adult Scholarship awards are not based upon any grades that earned before. Q: Do I still need to meet all the regular admissions requirements for a given program to be eligible for a scholarship award? A: Yes. GENERAL Q: If I get a scholarship award, do I actually get the money? A: No. The scholarship awards are applied to your tuition charges. Q: Can I use the scholarship award for living expenses? A: No. Scholarship awards are only applied to tuition charges. Q: Can I use this scholarship award at another college? A: No. Our scholarship awards may only be used at our family of colleges. 8 Q: If I don t complete the program and graduate, do I still get the scholarship? A: No. Scholarship awards are not credited toward tuition charges unless the student graduates. If a scholarship recipient does not graduate, he/she loses their scholarship award. Q: Do I have to maintain good grades or a certain GPA while I m in school to keep the scholarship award? A: Yes. Most of the scholarship awards require you to maintain a certain GPA to keep the scholarship award. See details above for each scholarship type. Q: Do I have to maintain good attendance while I m in school to keep the scholarship award? A: Yes. Most of the scholarship awards require you have good attendance to keep the scholarship award. See details above for each scholarship award type. Q: How are the scholarship award recipients selected? A: The College has a Scholarship Committee that reviews applications, verifies eligibility, and selects award recipients. Q: What if I have a question that is not answered here? 9 Scholarship Application Scholarships have specific eligibility criteria and may only be awarded after application, determination of eligibility, and selection by the Scholarship Committee. Application Requirements General Requirements Scholarship Rules Applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Must provide proof of High School graduation or GED. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident. Completion of scholarship Application form. Sign an affidavit for eligibility. Submit a 500-word essay on How will earning a degree change my life. Recommendation letter from GED Coordinator or designate for Build a Better Future Scholarship. Scholarships may only be awarded to new students. A student may not receive multiple scholarships from the college Applicant must submit all required paperwork to the scholarship committee at least one week prior to the start of the student s first module. Scholarships are nontransferable, apply to tuition only and will not result in a cash payment to students. All scholarships are waivers to tuition. Graduation is a requirement for all scholarship awards. A recipient who withdraws prior to graduation will not have the scholarship posted to their account.
