2 1 Cleep Solution Overview Using the Cleep Solution the Operator is able to get own subscribers a possibility to alarm wanted party if subscriber is out of balance. Wanted party call back brings additional air time to termination revenues to Operator. Cleep solution works only on signaling side and does not require payload channels, so all service logic terminates before call establishment. With Cleep solution, when a subscriber which has no balance is trying to initiate a call, the call is retrieved by the service platform which dials the second subscriber s number and drops immediately the call by leaving a missed call notification on the phone screen. Thus, the subscriber is calling back and the operator earns from voice traffic. Service is intended for prepaid subscribers. 2 Solution components Solution consists of several logical components which are described below in the table. Logical component Signaling Module Description This module is responsible for receiving mirrored SS7 over IP (via L2 mirroring ports on customer IP backbone) traffic containing CAMEL messages between MSC and Prepaid platform. This module by analyzing CAMEL messages determines that subscriber A with insufficient balance tries to call to subscriber B in order to execute Cleep application logic. This module stores Calling Party Address (MSISDN A), Called Party Address (MSISDN B). This module is responsible for initiating 1

3 Business Logic Engine CDR Web Portal circuit switched call ISUP call based on information received from Signaling module. Processing module uses a number of business logic rules that are stored and configured on Business Logic Engine in order to apply different functionality and policy for outgoing calls. This module also produces call statistics and CDRs This module implements different call traffic functions/policies to provide Cleep application functionality described in Functionality Chapter 5 This module permanently stores all statistical and call related information for reporting and reconciliation purposes This module is responsible for representation facilities of the solution (configuration and reporting) 3 Call Flow Cleep solution upon receiving of information about call made from A to B (A have insufficient balance) decides to initiate ISUP call (cleep call) on behalf of subscriber A to B. 1. Cleep solution takes a proper GMSC (Gateway MSC) point code from the 2

4 DB depending on the received Called Party Number and initiates call (ISUP IAM) to the chosen GMSC with the same Called and Calling Party Numbers 2. G MSC routes the call to MSC which is related to subscriber B. 3. MSC B executes normal GSM call procedures towards B and sends ISUP ACM message to GSMC when it s ready to call 4. GMSC sends ISUP ACM towards Cleep 5. After receiving ISUP Address Complete Message from GMSC Cleep application releases the call (ISUP REL) 6. GSMC transfers ISUP REL messages to MSC B 7. MSC B replies with ISUP RLC (release complete) 8. GMSC transfers ISUP RLC message to Cl.epp application Subscriber B received missed call notification on the screen. 4 Physical Connectivity with customer IP Network (SIGTRAN) Solution should be connected to customer signaling IP network Cl.eep node, site #1 Celcom network, site#1 ETH-0 OAM traffic, VPN ilo, FE Server Management, ilo, FE FE VPN / SSG A ETH-4 Mirroring, L2 L2/L3 FE OAM Site switch OAM domain IPBB ETH-5 SIGTRAN NTP ETH-1 ETH-2 Cluster interconnect ETH-1 ETH-2 ETH-0 ilo, FE OAM traffic, VPN Server Management, ilo, FE SPAN port Site #1 Router A VLANxxx STP 01 B ETH-4 Mirroring, L2 MSS XXX ETH-5 SIGTRAN SPAN port Site #2 Router A STP 01 The following connections should be available: 1. Connection to SIGTRAN links that carries CAP (CAMEL) traffic to and from MSC to Prepaid via STP (black ones on the picture) 2. Connection to 1 or 2 MSC via ISUP in order to make outgoing calls (cleeps) (blue ones on the picture) 3. Connection to 4 Gigabit/FE Ethernet ports on Customer O&M network routers (green ones on the picture) 5 Functionality Cleep solution support the following features that help operator to apply necessary business logic. Configuration of the features can be done via web portal. 3

5 5.1 Destinations Cleep solution allows to define up to 250 destination points to which different policies can be applied. Destination can be defined as set of MSISDN masks. 5.2 Call throttling per destination Cleep Solution supports call throttling to allow operator to set the limits of outgoing calls initiated by the platform. Throttling limits are defined per destination or globally per system. 5.3 Outgoing Call Scheduler Scheduling is the policy for Cleep service that allows the operator to set time and day of service allowed. For example, operator may choose to turn off the service during some exact hours or days, some days with special events by calendar etc. Outgoing call scheduler works per defined destinations. 5.4 Incoming and outgoing call policy This functionality allows the operator to define the applicability of the service by subscriber number (MSISDN). For example, operator can restrict the service for defined MSDISDN and mask 5.5 Service usage statistics Cleep Solution supports the following counters: - Total number of cleeps per destination/per day - Total number of cleeps per day/month/year - Top 5 destinations per day/month/year - Total number of Cleep generators (unique MSISDNs) - Cleeps per second per system 5.6 CDR generation Cleep solution generates Call Detailed Records with the following information: Field description Format, example Subscriber A MSISDN Subscriber B MSISDN Timestamp DD.MM.YYYY hh:mm:ss Status code 0 CDRs can be exported to external BI/ETL systems via FTP protocol. CDRs are text based format with ; delimiter. 5.7 Reporting Cleep Solution supports the following reports available through web portal: - Total number of cleeps per destination/per day - Total number of cleeps per day/month/year - Top 5 destinations per day/month/year - Total number of Cleep generators (unique MSISDNs) - Cleeps per second per system 4
