2 M A Expanded Statement of Institutional Purpose Linkage: Institutional Mission Reference: As a newly developed college, within Bethel University, our mission remains to create a learning and growth opportunities for members of our learning community with an emphasis on making application of the knowledge obtained. College/University Goal(s) Supported: a. The College will maintain or enhance programs in areas of core competency. Intended Educational (Student) Outcomes: 1. Students graduating with a degree in will demonstrate knowledge of major theories of leadership and management. 2. Students graduating with a degree in will be able to demonstrate knowledge of other areas of business. 3. Students graduating with a degree in will demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of leadership to real-world situations. 4. Students will report feeling a high degree of quality in their degree program. Students will also report superior support staff and services were in place to foster their success.
3 M B August 2012-July 2013 August Students graduating with a degree in will demonstrate knowledge of major theories of accounting. 1 a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success: The mean overall score on the Exit Exam in Accounting will be used to assess this outcome. Graduates will perform at the 50 th percentile level. 1 a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected: Exit exam scores indicate that our students performed very well in this area. Our students exceeded the benchmark by scoring 80.75% 1 a. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: Monitoring results from our exit exam will continue to provide areas for improvement. The student survey will provide insight on facilitators and how their teaching styles can be improved or modified to benefit student learning.
4 M C 2 Students graduating with a degree in will be able to demonstrate knowledge of other areas of leadership. 2 a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success: The mean overall score on the Exit Exam in Statistics will be used to assess this outcome. Graduates will perform at the 50 th percentile level. 2 a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected: The Exit Exam results indicate that our graduates did not meet the bench mark goal of performing in the 50 th percentile scoring 38% 2 a. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: The Exit Exam will continue to be utilized as the primary means of assessment. This was the first year that we were able to utilize scores from the Exit exam. Our goals will remain the same for another year as we norm the results and establish baseline data. We will re-evaluate results in Stats in 6 months to look for improvements or whether immediate action should be taken. Second Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above _2_b
5 M C 3 Students graduating with a degree in will demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of Systems and Organizational Change to real-world situations. 3 a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success: Students graduating with a degree in will complete a course Systems Approach to Organizational Change. 85% of students will successfully identify an opportunity for improvement in their organization, summarize journal articles and apply them to their own organization, and identify one recommendation based on their organizational analysis. Summary of Assessment Data Collected _3_a 88% of students successfully identified an opportunity for improvement in their organization, summarize journal articles and applied them to their own organization, and identified one recommendation based on their organizational analysis. 3 a. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: Based on our student performance our goal for our students in the ORP will remain the same. 85% of students will successfully identify an opportunity for improvement in their organization, summarize journal articles and apply them to their own organization, and identify one recommendation based on their organizational analysis.
6 M C 4 Students graduating with a degree in will report a high degree of satisfaction with Bethel University s degree program and processes. 4 a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success: A student satisfaction survey will be developed to assess student responses, suggestions and/or concerns within the program with facilitation and staff support. Student satisfaction rate should reach 85%. 4 a. 1.. Summary of Assessment Data Collected: The surveys indicate that the students were well pleased with the advising they received in some areas but less satisfied in others. Students indicated they felt there was consistency with the way the program was represented and what they found in the program. They also expressed satisfaction with overall services received from CPS. Their rate of satisfaction with staff support was 82%. 4 a.1. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: A part of the dissatisfaction with advisors had to do with turnover, due to growth and advisors leaving their positions for other growth opportunities within the University. Bethel will continue to strive to employ and develop advisors that will be responsive to the needs of students. We will also work hard to reduce attrition in those departments.
7 M C 4 a. 2. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: The goal of 85% student satisfaction will remain in place for the next fiscal year for staff support. These areas will be re-examined in six months. If numbers exceed the desired goal the goal can be modified. 4 a.2. Summary of Assessment Data Collected: The surveys indicate that our students were pleased with the consistency of facilitation they received and the quality of the academic content of the program. 93% of the students surveyed expressed satisfaction in the area of academics and facilitation
