16 CULTURE AND STRATEGY Think ROI, not just costs Custodians of the Facilities AND Resources All decision predicated on the Conscious Cost Control Practice as part of the Accessible, Attentive, and Affordable Innovative Model of Higher Education Sustainability is an aspect of culture, not just a characteristic of operation We teach it; We model it Memberships: ACUPCC, ASSHE, & CURC ACUPCC goals GGC will purchase and install solar panels on buildings and vacant land sufficient to meet or exceed the goal of generating 15% of GGC s electrical power from sustainable sources: Met with Hannah Solar to discuss possible renewable projects on campus. Exploring possibility with electrical provider. Environmental Classes and supporting curricula for other classes / programs Communications (frequent and multi-modal) with students, faculty and staff

17 BUILD New Buildings Library LEED Gold certified Student Center LEED Silver certified H1 Applied for Georgia Peach Points certification H2 Applied for LEED Silver certification and for Georgia Peach Points certification. Expect to receive LEED Certification and 3 Georgia Peach Points based on data received. C3 Will apply for Georgia Peach Points certification Flooring material used in Allied Health is manufactured from recyclable product Installation of white/reflective roof materials and insulation with a high R-value (Library, Student Center, H1, H2 and C3) Use of low VOC materials in all interior finishes, including paints, adhesives, and sealants

18 RENEW Renovations Installation of hand dryers in restrooms to reduce paper waste. New mechanical unit serving the pool in Fitness Center is more energy efficient and recycles reusable energy back into the building (pool heat) Installation of new water fountains with bottle fillers (reduces the waste from plastic water bottles and other nonrecyclable cups, etc.).

19 REUSE Waste Management Recycling Program Metals Installation of new waste/recycle containers around campus Recyclable trash (paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, aluminum, etc.) Controlled (hazardous waste) Disposal Program o Lamps from fluorescent and incandescent lights fixtures o Light fixture ballasts o Batteries o Computer and other electronic devices o Paint and other similar waste materials

20 CONSERVE Energy Management Reductions in energy and utility consumption: Replacement of fluorescent (and incandescent) light fixtures with LED fixtures. Replacement of light switches with room occupancy sensors Installation of water saving control valves Currently use Energy Star appliances as campus standard HVAC systems set to Unoccupied Mode from 10pm-4am Monday-Friday and weekends Additionally, several building mechanical systems are equipped with air-economizer mode, allowing outside air to assist with each building s air-conditioning load. Installation of campus wide exterior lighting controls system.

21 STEWARD Sustainable Exterior Environment Landscape design and installation of drought tolerant and local species planting on new buildings (including C3, E, G, L, H1 and H2 and the Streetscape project near H1. Implementing sustainable landscaping (local species and drought tolerant) to other existing areas around campus. Currently use reclaimed storm water to supplement irrigation All 100% IAW original 20 year Master Plan developed by Sasaki

22 TRANSPORTATION LEV / HEV (Electric vehicle) Charging Stations Installation of Level 2 EV charging stations in the Parking Deck, B-Lot, Housing 1000 lot and I-Lot Evaluation of solar charging stations beginning Extensive use of electric vehicles for facilities and warehousing to reduce emissions (golf carts)

23 POLICY AS A RESOURCE Custodial Operations We have a Green cleaning policy All cleaning products used have a Green Seal certification Environmentally Conscious Team Member Green Cleaning Products Clear Trash Bag Blue Recycle Bag
