1 School of Health Professions Texas Core Curriculum Students must complete the Texas Core Curriculum and prerequisite courses elsewhere prior to transferring into the School of Health Professions. The courses may be taken at any regionally accredited college/university. 2 Prerequisite Requirements for Students Entering Fall 2016 Clinical Laboratory Science Within these 60 hours, the following must be included: that may include Biology, Anatomy & Physiology with or without laboratory components 12 SCH in Chemistry to include General Chemistry I & II, and Organic Chemistry I 4 SCH in Organic Chemistry II or Biochemistry Note: 12 of the above 24 SCH may be satisfied by the Life and Physical Sciences Core course selection Within these 90 hours, the following must be included: 15 SCH of upper level division courses (000, 4000) 000 level or higher Microbiology course 000 level or higher Immunology course that may include Biology, Anatomy & Physiology with or without laboratory components 12 SCH in Chemistry to include General Chemistry I & II, and Organic Chemistry I 4 SCH in Organic Chemistry II or Biochemistry Cytogenetic Technology Within the required 60 SCH, the following must be included: 16 SCH in Chemistry Note: 12 of the above 24 SCH may be satisfied by the Life and Physical Sciences Core course selection Within the required 90 SCH, the following must be included: 11 SCH of upper level division courses (000, 4000) 16 SCH in Chemistry SCH of Microbiology SCH of Genetics Page 2 Updated 8/18/2015

3 Cytotechnology Within these 60 hours, the following must be included:, to include 4 SCH in Anatomy and Physiology 8 SCH in General Chemistry or higher-level Chemistry Note: 12 of the above 16 SCH may be satisfied by the Life and Physical Sciences Core course selection Within these 90 hours, the following must be included: 18 SCH of upper level division courses (000, 4000) 20 SCH in Biological Sciences, to include 4 SCH in Anatomy and Physiology 8 SCH in General Chemistry or higher-level Chemistry Note: 12 of the above 28 SCH may be satisfied by the Life and Physical Sciences Core course selection Diagnostic Imaging Prerequisites for the Certificate in Radiologic Sciences Program Minimum of 42 SCH that includes: Texas Core Curriculum (42 SCH) Note: Completion of the Texas Core Curriculum is recommended, but applicants with a minimum of 0 SCH of the Texas Core will be considered for admissions. Prerequisites for the three-year Bachelor of Science program in Diagnostic Imaging Minimum of 42 SCH that includes: Texas Core Curriculum (42 SCH) 4 SCH in Anatomy & Physiology I Note: Completion of the Texas Core Curriculum is recommended, but applicants with a minimum of 0 SCH of the Texas Core will be considered for admissions. 4 Diagnostic Imaging - Education Applicants must be certified in ARRT, NMTCB or ARDMS Note: Applicants with a minimum of 0 SCH may apply for the part-time option (2-year program) Diagnostic Imaging - Magnetic Resonance Imaging Applicants must be certified in ARRT, NMTCB or ARDMS Diagnostic Imaging - Management Applicants must be certified in ARRT, NMTCB or ARDMS Note: Applicants with a minimum of 0 SCH may apply for the part-time option (2-year program) Diagnostic Medical Sonography Minimum of 48 SCH that includes: Completion of the Texas Core Curriculum (42 SCH) and 6 additional SCH 4 SCH in College Physics, including lab 8 SCH in Anatomy and Physiology I and II, including lab Note: Completion of an Associates or Bachelors degree is recommended, but not required Page 4 Updated 8/18/2015

5 Histotechnology Within the above 60 hours, the following must be included: SCH in college mathematics, or statistics which may be satisfied by the Texas Core course selection 17 SCH in Biology and Chemistry* *Note: 12 of the above 17 SCH may be satisfied by the Life and Physical Sciences Core course selection Within the above 90 hours, the following must be included: 18 SCH of upper level division courses (000, 4000) 27 SCH in Biology and Chemistry* *Note: 12 of the above 27 SCH may be satisfied by the Life and Physical Sciences Core course selection for Histotechnology Professionals Within the above 90 hours, the following must be included: 18 SCH of upper level division courses (000, 4000) 27 SCH in Biology and Chemistry* Applicants must hold HT (ASCP) certification Applicants must have a minimum of one full year s experience in the Histotechnology field Applicants must be currently practicing their profession in a working Histotechnology Service Lab Applicant s employer must be willing to serve as a clinical affiliate *Note: 12 of the above 27 SCH may be satisfied by the Life and Physical Sciences Core course selection Medical Dosimetry A minimum of 60 SCH that include: The Texas Core Curriculum (42 SCH) & additional 18 SCH.
