1 VPNremote for 4600 Series IP Telephone Self Installer User Installation and Configuration Quick Start This document provides instruction for installing and configuring the Avaya VPNremote for 4600 Series IP Telephone (VPNremote Phone) in the small office home office (SOHO) environment. Avaya VPNremote for 4600 Series IP Telephone installation The VPNremote Phone is intended for use in a SOHO environment. Equipment requirements You will need the following equipment: 1 Avaya VPNremote for 4600 Series IP Telephone 1 Cat5e to connect the telephone to power source 1 Avaya power source 1, if necessary, to connect power source to SOHO router or IP connection 1 Intel Windows XP based PC 1 computer with corporate network access To install and use a security device in a typical network, the customer must supply the following: DSL or modem providing connectivity to the Internet. Avaya recommends that the SOHO office use a LAN router with network address translation (NAT) and firewall capability that provides DHCP addresses for all SOHO devices. Avaya also recommends that the customer-supplied router provide QoS guarantees for the telephony tunnel. The procedures in this guide will assist you to complete the installation and configuration of your VPNremote Phone. Use the following procedures in the stated sequence to complete the installation and configuration: 1. Verify that your computer is connected to your SOHO and that you have connectivity to your corporate network. 2. Download the VPNremote Phone Self Installer file. See Downloading the Self Installer Configuration file. 3. Disconnect your computer from your SOHO. 4. Connect your VPNremote Phone to your computer. See Connecting the VPNremote Phone to your computer. NOTE: Your computer and VPNremote Phone are only connected to one another. Your computer is not connected to your SOHO. 5. Click the Self Installer configuration file to execute installer on the computer. 6. Disconnect the VPNremote Phone from your computer. 7. Install the VPNremote Phone into your SOHO. See Installing the VPNremote Phone into your SOHO. 8. Reinstall your computer into your SOHO or into the open port on the VPNremote Phone Avaya Inc, All rights reserved. P/N /07

2 VPNremote for 4600 Series IP Telephone Configuration Downloading the Self Installer Configuration file In the Self Installer configuration method, the software installation and configuration is started by your Administrator. Your Administrator has preconfigured the Self Installer file and placed the file on a network location. Once you have downloaded the Self Installer file, you must complete the configuration by executing the file. Use the following procedure to download the Self Installer configuration file: 1. Verify that your computer has connectivity to your corporate network. 2. Navigate to Self Installer configuration file. The location of this file is provided by your network administrator. 3. Download the Self Installer file to your computer. 4. Disconnect the computer from your corporate network. 5. Physically disconnect your computer from your SOHO. 6. Connect the VPNremote Phone to your computer. See Connecting the VPNremote Phone to your computer. 7. Navigate to the InstallVPNremoteFor46xx.bat file. 8. Double click the file to execute the Self Installer. Before the installation process begins, the telephone tries to find a DHCP server. Once the telephone finds the DHCP server, the installation process begins. Once the process is complete, the installer displays a finished window on the computer. 9. When you see the finished window, disconnect your computer from the telephone. 10. To complete your installation, you must install the VPNremote Phone into your Small Office Home Office (SOHO) and use your VPNremote Client user name and password. See Installing the VPNremote Phone into your SOHO.

3 VPNremote for 4600 Series IP Telephone Installation Connecting the VPNremote Phone to your computer Use the following procedure to connect your VPNremote phone to your computer: 1 1. Connect the to the right port on the back of the telephone Connect the other end of the to the Avaya power source phone jack. The phone jack on the Avaya power source is on the left side and is labeled Phone Connect the Cat5e to the Avaya power source line in jack. The line in jack on the Avaya power brick is on the right side and is labeled Line In Disconnect your computer from your SOHO and connect the other end of the straight through to your computer. Computer 5. Connect the Avaya power brick or PoE switch power cord to an AC outlet to power-up the telephone. NOTE: Your computer and VPNremote Phone are only connected to one another. Your computer is not connected to your SOHO.

4 VPNremote for 4600 Series IP Telephone Installation Installing the VPNremote Phone into your SOHO Use the following procedure to install the VPNremote Phone into your SOHO: 1 1. Connect the to the right port on the back of the telephone Connect the other end of the to the Avaya power source phone jack. The phone jack on the Avaya power source is on the left side and is labeled Phone Connect the Cat5e to the Avaya power source line in jack. The line in jack on the Avaya power brick is on the right side and is labeled Line In Connect the other end of the straight through to your SOHO. DSL or Cable Modem 5. Connect the Avaya power brick or PoE switch power cord to an AC outlet to power-up the telephone.

5 VPNremote for 4600 Series IP Telephone Configuration Entering your User Name and Password At startup, the phone will attempt to establish a VPN connection using the Administrator configured VPN parameters. You are given the option to change the VPN parameters. To change the VPN parameters, press the Edit button indicated on the VPN startup screen to enter the user name and password. When entering information through the telephone keypad, use the Case button, or fifth gray button, to switch between upper-case letters and lower-case letters. Use the left and right arrow keys at the bottom of the display to move left or right. Press the Done button at the lower left corner of the display to return to the configuration options. Use the following procedure and the telephone key pad to enter the user name and password: 1. Select the VPN option to change by using the gray buttons on the left of the display. Press the User Name button, or second gray button, to change the VPN user name. The user name is the same name used to login to the enterprise network using VPNremote Client. 2. Enter your user name using the telephone key pad. Press the alpha-numeric keys until the desired letter appears. 3. Select the VPN option to change by using the gray buttons on the left of the display. Press the Password button, or third gray button, to change the VPN password. The password is the same password used to login to the enterprise network using VPNremote Client. 4. Enter your password using the telephone key pad. Press the alpha-numeric keys until the desired letter appears. 5. Press Done to complete the configuration.
