1 Managing Tasks with Microsoft Project Server, Project Online and Project Lite for Microsoft Project Server 2013 (4 Hours) Course Overview After attending this course you will be able to Use the Project Web App component of Microsoft Project Server or Project Online or Project Lite to gain an understanding of what tasks you are responsible for across all projects and to enter task progress information, submit changes to those tasks, record time in timesheets, create and update information pertaining to project issues and risks, upload project-related documents and set up alerts for your tasks. You will learn the role that each of the components of the Project Server 2013 or Project Online environment plays in supporting the planning and managing of projects, how different project stakeholders interact with and use the different components in order to meet their needs, the benefits to the organization of using a tool like Project Server or Project Online, what information is available to project team members in Project Server, Project Online or Project Lite and how to navigate within the software in order to see the information of interest, how to use filters, sorting and grouping to make the information easier to work with, how to view and work with projects in Project Server or Project Online, how to view the tasks for which you re responsible, the difference between work and duration and why it s relevant, the difference between progressing tasks and recording time,

information, submit changes to those tasks, record time in timesheets, create and update information pertaining to project issues and risks, upload project-related documents and set up email alerts

2 Page 2 You will learn (continued) the different ways that task progress can be recorded, the roles involved in getting task progress updates into the plan and the process through which those updates move prior to being incorporated into the schedule, how to record progress on your tasks and how to submit those updates for review and approval, how to attach notes to tasks, what happens to your progress updates once they re submitted, what categories are available for recording and submitting your time, how to record and submit your time, how to request vacation time in Project Server, Project Online or Project Lite, how to record sick time, how to reschedule your planned work on a particular task, how to assign your planned work on a task to another project team member, how to suggest the addition or removal of a task, what happens to suggested task changes once you ve submitted them, how to set up alerts and reminders for your tasks, how to identify a risk that pertains to a project or task with which you re involved, how to identify an issue that pertains to a project or task with which you re involved, how to upload project-related documents. This course is appropriate for you if. You are a project team member who is or will be responsible for providing updates about your project tasks and/or how you spent your time using Microsoft Project Server 2013, Project Online or Project Lite. This course is taught from the project team member s perspective and focuses on how team members can provide information about the tasks to which they are assigned.
