Like happiness, prosperity, will, and anything you may ever look for - material or ethereal, knowing cannot come from outside. The School for Gods by Founder and President Elio D Anna Education today seems to be the antithesis to the classical models laid out by the ancient Greeks in which schools the pupil were encouraged to question, to participate, and before all else - to know themselves. The European School of Economics believes that the world one lives in is none other than a reflection of the inner states he lives, and that the more one knows and therefore masters himself, the more he can create a world that is pleasing for himself and others. All courses at the European School of Economics are centred around the individual as their most vital element. ESE Summer short courses have be designed with the individual in mind. 4 Course Presentation Years ago the founder of one of the most prestigious universities in the United States, Thomas Jefferson, travelled to Italy not only to benefit from the architectural wonders of the Renaissance, but to live and breathe in the culture that created them. He was the forerunner of a trend that would carry on. He dreamed of a harmonious world and sought it externally, literally to the ends of the earth. The European School of Economics was founded by a man with a dream. It now has centers over three continents and in the world s major cities: London, New York, Rome, Milan, Florence, and Madrid. The College is a privately-funded institution, providing providing undergraduate, post-graduate and certificate programs focused on guiding students towards self-discovery, and bring them to the realization of their own innate qualities and uniqueness, developing each of them as leaders regardless of the field they choose to pursue. The ESE Summer program is designed to give visiting students the opportunity to meet in a stimulating environment to learn and exchange new ideas, and ultimately to discover their professional dream. Both undergraduate and post-graduate students, as well as professionals can benefit from ESE s carefully guided instruction, while at the same time benefitting from our local knowledge, excursions, and guest speakers. As a participant in the ESE Summer Program, students may be eligible to apply for a 4-week internship in one of our over 1500 collaborating companies. Not only current students, but also those who have already launched their careers and want to embark on a new adventure, or to open their own business are perfect candidates.

5 ESE Summer School ESE Summer School offers nearly twenty three-week courses taught by ESE s worldrenowned faculty. All courses take place on our campus in the heart of Central London. Summer School courses are drawn from across all disciplines, and are divided into various subject areas: Hospitality Management Fashion & Luxury Goods Management Event Management Arts and Cultural Management The Business of Architecture Music Management Sports Management International Business Law Introduction to International Commercial Dispute Resolution Investment Techniques Entrepreneurship Hospitality Management & Food Science The Economics of Diplomacy Intensive English Specialised Programmes Finance Marketing Management Structure ESE Summer School courses are full-time, intensive programmes, and consist of at least 48 contact hours over the three-week period, generally taking the form of 36 hours of lectures and 12 hours of tutorial or seminar-based classes. Due to the intensive nature of the programme, students are expected to spend a full day on campus. Lectures are attended by all students on the course, and take place either in the morning (10am - 1pm) or afternoon (2pm - 5pm), at the same time each day. They are supplemented by small 1.5 hour classes, during the following afternoon or morning. These are an opportunity to work through problem sets or case studies, or present and discuss seminar papers. In addition, students are recommended to spend 2-3 hours per day in self-guided study.

6 Timetables are issued at the beginning of the programme. It is not possible to know the expected hours of a particular course before the programme starts. It is not possible to change either the lecture time or the allocated class time, however course changes are permitted within the first two days of the session. Personal development The ESE Summer School is about more than just academic study. We understand that at this level students are beginning to think about their future, considering their choice of university, degree and future employment. The Summer School helps students with this time of transition through a series of additional sessions provided by staff from the ESE s careers, admissions and academic skills departments and a range of external speakers. We hope that students leave the programme with a greater sense of clarity about their interests, goals and skills, which will help inform their decisions in the future. Developing new skills Careers In previous years students have enjoyed visits from employers and practitioners working in fields related to their course. This provides an insight into the career paths available within the broad fields of not only Business Management, Services Industry but also Arts, Music & Sport. Admissions Students studying during our past summer schools have also benefitted from sessions led by ESE s admissions staff about the application process for undergraduate study in the UK. Personal and professional skills Students have developed their public speaking and team work skills during our previous summer schools. In 2015 students benefitted from a two-part negotiation workshop. Exams Assessment for Summer School courses is based upon the results of either two formal examinations or a combination of formal examination and assessed work. Examinations are two hours in length and are conducted under standardised ESE examination regulations.

7 Credit If you wish to receive credit for your Summer School course/courses you will need to contact either your Study Abroad Office or the office in your university that deals with external credit. We strongly advise you to do this before you apply. It is up to your home institution to decide how much credit is awarded as credits are not printed on ESE Summer School transcripts. The Summer School Office is however happy to provide any necessary information to your registry or academic advisor, to help them evaluate the courses. Summer School contact hours can be found under the tab Structure. Certification All students will be provided with a certificate and transcript that will include their name, course/courses and grade, after the programme has finished. Digital transcripts will be made available shortly after the programme has ended. Who can apply? The ESE Summer School is open to both undergraduate and graduate students as well as professionals. It is an intensive social and academic experience in the very heart of London so therefore independence, maturity and motivation are essential qualities for all applicants. What do we need from you? As part of the application process students will need to upload the following: 1. official confirmation of their most recent transcripts or academic certificates 2. a personal statement 3. evidence of their English language proficiency (if their first language is not English or if English is not the language of instruction at their school) All students must meet one of the following requirements: Native speaker of English Experience of studying in English at university level* Achieving the minimum score in one of the following language certificates: Certificate TOEFL (internet based) IELTS Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTEA) Required Score 53 or above (including 25 in each component) 5.0 or above (including 5 in all components) academic test with a score of 46 in all four components

8 *If you have studied in an English speaking institution, or have courses taught at your university in English (excluding English language courses) you may meet our requirements without having to supply one of the above certificates. Evidence of this will either need to be included on a transcript or letter from your university. We are aware that in many places, university education is taught fully or partially in English as standard. If you have studied at a university where this is the case you can apply as a native speaker. Some examples of places where is the case are: India Pakistan Turkey Hong Kong Singapore The Netherlands and all Scandinavian countries Applicants with an alternative qualification should contact the Summer School Office for advice. Applicants who wish to refresh their language skills may be interested to note that the ESE Language Centre offers intensive one-three weeks English language courses prior to each Summer School session. Please note that Places on the ESE Summer School can only be confirmed once payment of REGISTRATION FEE is received. Once a course is full then we cannot usually accept any more students.) The programme fee does not include: domestic/international travel to and from London at the beginning and end of the trip spending or souvenir money meals stationery accommodation trip cancellation insurance (travel insurance and assistance plan) full medical insurance, including medical and dental fees, and prescriptions.
