At UNC, we pride ourselves on transformational educational experiences for the students that come here to study the arts, as well as many other disciplines. We especially welcome the students who have come from throughout the United States and the world to learn more about the art of performing the piano under the tutelage of world-class guest artists and our faculty. We also are proud of the fact that we offer the highest standard of piano instruction in a supportive, nurturing artistic environment, which is one of the hallmarks of our music and arts programs. We hope that your time on campus is spent enjoying all that the University of Northern Colorado and the community of Greeley has to offer you. 3 Stanislav Khristenko Welcome From UNC Keyboard Faculty International Piano Competition, First Prize at the Maria Canals International Music Competition, and was named Fourth Laureate at the Queen Elisabeth Competition. Mr. Khristenko also was a recipient of the Emil Gilels Award of the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation and a Russian Performance Art Foundation Award. Following Mr. Khristenko s performance of Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1 with The Cleveland Orchestra in the final round of the Cleveland Competition, the Plain Dealer s Zachary Lewis praised his performance for its shimmering filigree and phrases of exquisite tenderness, in which every note mattered. Born in Ukraine, Mr. Khristenko is a graduate of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He received an Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2010 where he studied as a full scholarship student with Sergei Babayan. 4 Guest Artists Stanislav Khristenko Marina Lomazov Professor of Piano, University of South Carolina Founder and Co-Director of Southeastern Piano Festival Stanislav Khristenko s performances have captivated audiences on four continents since his first solo recital at the age of eleven. A poet, an architect of great forms (LeSoir), Mr. Khristenko has been praised in the media around the globe. The Washington Post wrote it was clear that Khristenko knows how to spin a story; his pacing was mature and unhurried, the dynamic range wide, and his fingers exhibited power and sensitivity. Of his Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall solo recital The New York Concert Review wrote [he] has the poise and intellect of a seasoned performer. Joseph Rackers Associate Professor of Piano, University of South Carolina Co-Artistic Director of Southeastern Piano Festival Stanislav Khristenko Gold Medalist, Cleveland International Piano Competition First Prize, Maria Canals International Music Competition Fourth Laureate, Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition medalists/stanislav-khristenko/ Mr. Khristenko has appeared as soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Belgium, the Cleveland Orchestra, Phoenix Symphony, Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra, Berliner Musikfreunde Orchestra, Takamatsu Symphony Orchestra, Arkansas Symphony, Northwest Florida Symphony and Moscow Conservatory Orchestra, among others. His performance highlights include solo recitals in Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, Schubertsaal in Vienna, Phillips Collection in Washington, and performances with orchestra in Grosser Hall of Berlin Philharmonie, Severance Hall in Cleveland, Moscow Conservatory Great Hall and Hong Kong City Hall. Mr. Khristenko has won top prizes at some of the most prestigious international piano competitions. In 2013 alone he won First Prize at the Cleveland

6 Lomazov/Rackers Piano Duo The Lomazov/Rackers Piano Duo garnered wide attention as the Second Prize Winners of the Sixth Biennial Ellis Duo Piano Competition, the only national competition for piano duo in the United States at the time. Since then, they have performed as recitalists and in concert with orchestras throughout the United States and Europe, including performances at the Kiev International Music Festival (Ukraine), Varna International Piano Festival (Bulgaria), Moulin d Andé Arts Festival (France), Burgos International Music Festival (Spain) and Infiorata di Genzano (Italy) in addition to appearances in every region of the United States. to wide-ranging performances of Stravinsky s Rite of Spring and Petrushka, leading one critic to write that the duo really lit up the audience demonstrated that nearly 100 years after it was written, this modernist touchstone can still sound modern (Free Times). Praised as a diva of the piano (Salt Lake City Tribune), Marina Lomazov has performed throughout the United States, Europe, South America and China. She has won prizes in the Gina Bachauer, Cleveland, William Kapell and Hilton Head international piano competitions, and was the first pianist to be awarded the Artist Diploma at the Eastman School of Music in nearly two decades. Praised for unflappable virtuosity (American Record Guide), Joseph Rackers has performed throughout the United States, Bulgaria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Spain and Ukraine at venues including the Shanghai and Sichuan Conservatories of Music (China), Dame Myra Hess Concert Series (Chicago), Banff Centre for the Arts (Canada), Yantai International Music Festival (China). He is the recipient of the prestigious Performer s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. Ms. Lomazov and Mr. Rackers each hold the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance from the Eastman School of Music and both serve on the piano faculty of the University of South Carolina School of Music where they co-direct the Southeastern Piano Festival. Lomazov and Rackers are Steinway Artists. Recent engagements include performances at the Society of Composers International Conference, the Chernigov Philharmonic (Ukraine), South Carolina Philharmonic, Piccolo Spoleto Festival and numerous others. Their performances have been described as splendid (Rochester, NY, WXXI radio), and a review of a performance of the Poulenc Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra said simply: The soloists? Amazing (The State). The Lomazov/Rackers duo has premiered numerous works across the United States, including several works written specifically for them.
