Art.2 Requirements At the time ofthe dedline for submission ofproposls, pplicnts shll fulfil the following requirements, on pin ofexclusion, in order to prticipte in the selection: l) shll hve doctorl degree, plus mximum of eight (8) yers of full-time post-phd reserch experience; or, in the cse of lck ofphd degree, 2) shll hve minimum of four (4) yers nd mximum of twelve (12) yers of full-time equivlent reserch experience (including the period of reserch trining), cquired fter the degree formlly necessry for the dmission to doctorte in the country where the degree ws obtined or in the country where the fellowship is tking plce; b) shll be reserchers who hve not resided or crried out their min ctivity (work, studies, etc.) in Itly for more thn twelve (12) months in the three (3) yers immeditely prior to the cll dedline (short stys, e.g.: holidys, re not tken into ccount). Art. 3 Appliction procedure Applicnts shll choose the most suitble INAF Reserch Centre (Hosting Structure) for crrying out their proposed reserch project nd will hve the possibility to indicte scientific stff member of the Hosting Structure s contct point nd supervisor of their project. In the bsence of such indiction, the successfully wrded fellows will meet the Director of the Hosting Structure to jointly identifu supervisor. In ny cse the indiction ofthe supervisor will not hve ny impct on the evlution. If required, the fellows cn conduct their reserch in more thn one INAF Reserch Centre. This option could be foreseen in the ppliction or be greed between the fellow nd supervisor during the preprtion ofthe creer development pln. Appliction forn, compiled in ll its sections, using the templte; 2. copy of vlid identity document (ld crd or Pssport); 3. Letter of Commitment signed by the Director of the selected INAF Reserch Centre, tht will ensure the pproprite conditions (ofiìce, lbortory spce, equipment etc) for the correct development of the proposed project, together with the necessry dministrtive support, using the templte; The Appliction shll be integrted by t lest two Leuers of Reference, dted, signed, nd e-miled to strofi inf.it by experts in the scientific reserch res indicted in rticle l. After the dedline, INAF will perform the eligibility check. Proposls not meeting the requirements (see Art.2) will not undergo evlution. The rejection due to ineligibility will be promptly communicted to the pplicnts, explining the resons. The pplicnt cn submit request for redress within 20 dys from the receipt ofthe communiction. INAF ccepts no responsibili for lost pplictions or documents where this is due to the pplicnt hving provided incorrect contct detils or hving filed or delyed in notifying chnges to these detils. Art. 5 Durtion of the Reserch fellowship The fellow shll devote himself/herself full time to the project for period of thirty six (36) months. The fellow, however, my propose to suspend prt, or ll, of the project due to personl, fmily (including prentl leve) or professionl resons. The request of suspension by the fellow must be ccompnied by the necessry justifi ctions. The Bord ofthe Progrmme cn pprove the request if duly justified, nd provided tht the totl durtion of the project does not overcome the durtion of the grnt greement nd suspension is shorter thn six (6) months. This mount, pid in different monthly instllments, includes the provisions for ll compulsory deductions under ntionl pplicble legisltion nd socil chrges. Trvel llownce:. fellows re entitled to three (3) trvel llownces, ech one ofone thousnd five hundred (1500) EUR/yer nd it is subject to ntionl pplicble deductions, irrespective of the ctul trvel costs incuned by the resercher. The first trvel llownce shll be pid first upon tking up ppointment nd the following two fter one nd two yers, respectively. The trvel llownce shll be proportionlly reduced ifthe fellows works for period lower thn twelve ( l2) months. Reserch cost contribution:. the hosting INAF Reserch Centre will receive contribution to the reserch nd trining expenses of the fellow. This monthly mount of five hundred (500) EUR will be used for ny expense needed to crry out the project nd to contribute t the resercher creer development. Accident nd helth insurnce:. it will be pid by INAF in fvour of the fellow, to provide coverge for helth diseses, work ccidents, occuptionl diseses nd invlidity. During the period ofobligtory mternity leve the llownce pid by INPS (Itlin Ntionl Institute for Socil Security) is supplemented by INAF up to the totl mount ofthe grnt. Art. 8 Selection Committee nd selection procedure The Selection Committee shll be composed by 7 members including the Chir. The Selection Committee shll be ppointed ccording to the following criteri:. intemtionlly recognized experience in strophysics relted fields;. significnt experience in intemtionl reserch projects in strophysics relted fields;. high level nd wide rnge ofcompetencies in strophysics;. gender blnce;. t lest two members non-resident in Itly. The Selection Committee shll be nominted by the INAF President, fter receiving indictions from the Progrmme Bord. Remote Evlution: ech submitted project shll be ssessed independently by the Selection Committee members, free from conflicts, who will give preliminry grde for ech of the evlution criteri, ccompnied by short report;. Consensus Meetin : the Selection Committee will meet to discuss the evlutions for ech proposl in order to: ) rech common view by consensus; b) produce n initil rnked list;. Considering the bottom-up pproch of AstroFlt 2, the first rnked proposls will be ccepted regrdless ofthe themtic re or the requested Hosting Structure. The S&T Qulity criterion will be weighted 60/100 nd Resercher criterion 40/100. An overll threshold of70/100 will be pplied to ll proposls. Proposls filing to meet the overll thresholds will be excluded from the finl qulified rnked list. The Selection Committee will tke into ccount the creer breks occurred for justified resons, such s civil or militry service, prenthood, or fmily cre nd/or unconventionl reserch creer pths, especilly in the cse of women. Reserch experience nd results obtined by the pplicnt will be evluted by the Selection Committee referring to the time ctully spent in the reserch ctivities. The selection procedure will be concluded, with the publiction of the finl pproved rnked list on the AstroFlt 2 website, not lter thn four (4) months from the dedline for pplictions (see Art. 3). INAF will ppoint the wrded AstroFlt 2 fellows by mens ofn "Assegno di Ricerc" position (ltlin Lw 20 December 2010, n. 240, Art. 22). A contrct will be signed between the Director of the Hosting Structure nd the fellow. Art. l0 Strting dte nd fellowship obligtions Expected strting dte of the fellowship will be within six (6) months from the wrd of the fellowship (on the l'r dy of the month). If the cndidte does not sign the contrct within this period, he/she will sunender his/her entitlement to the reserch fellowship. Under no circumstnces the signing of the contrct represents subordinte employment reltionship or ensures ny rights to ccess to permnent INAF or non permnent INAF stffpositions. A copy will be sent to the Bord of the Progrmme for ny suggestions. The Creer Developmenl Pln, to be considered live document tht will be verified nd eventully updted during the fellowship, shll include: l) the cquisition of scientific skills needed for relizing the scientific objectives of the proposed Progrmme; 2) the cquisition oftechnicl nd scientific skills of generl use in strophysics nd in other scientific fields; 3) trining in non-scientific res. The ctivities of point l) will depend on the specific scientific project of the fellow nd my include the study or development of theoreticl models, instrumenttion, experimentl set-up, dt nlysis, etc. Point 2) is more generl nd my include some prctice in using softwre typiclly dopted in strophysics nd in scientific context, the fellows my study specific progrmming lnguge. develop their bility in sttisticl nlysis, mthemticl techniques, etc. Finlly, the ctivities in 3) my include eductionl skills. The fellows my collborte with the eductionl ctivities lredy ongoing t the host structure. They my lem to mnge project of smll/medium size, to prepre reports, to write new proposls both ntionl nd Europen. The Bord of the Progrmme cn suggest trining in non-scientific skills nd INAF is entitled to orgnize lhose ctivities for the fellows; shll be fully integrted in the ctivities of the INAF Hosting structure. He/she will hve the possibility to prticipte to seminrs or conferences orgnized by the host, nd is expected to give one or more seminrs illustrting his/her scientific ctivities. He/she will hve the opportunity to join ntionl/intemtionl projects in which the host is involved, prticipting to lrge projects within collbortions tht re common in strophysics. If interested, he/she my lso collborte on voluntry bsis, s the other reserchers in the host structures, on eductionl nd didcticl ctivities; shll submit three (3) scientific reports, two (2) intermedite reports t the end of the first nd second yer of ctivity nd finl report within one (l) month fter the conclusion of their fellowship. The scientific reports must be countersigned by the Director of the structure nd the locl scientifi c supervisor. In these reports, ech fellow will present the chieved results, compring them with the proposed project nd with wht foreseen the Creer Development Pln.The reports will include specific nd generl scientific ctivities, s well s non-scientific trining ctivities, nd in cse of needs will be used to djust the remining ctivity pln.
